Booster packs: the open-anything pick
A single sleeved booster pack is the easiest Pokémon secret santa gift under $20. It costs less than a coffee shop round and delivers something the recipient can actually use.
The Pokémon TCG: Journey Together (set code SV09) is the current standard-legal set as of 2026. A single sleeved pack from independent shops runs $6.95, observed October 28, 2026. The sleeved wrapper holds the pack's shape and makes it feel gift-ready straight out of the envelope.
It works equally well for someone who plays competitively, someone who just likes opening things, and anyone who has a collection sitting in a binder.
For the lapsed collector in your group, consider a Mega Evolution sleeved booster pack ($7.95, observed October 28, 2026) instead. Mega Evolution features Mega Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur with modern card art. The nostalgia factor lands well for anyone who played during the X and Y era.
A single pack contains 10 cards. The recipient keeps whatever they pull. The appeal is the opening experience, not the chance of a rare card.
Mini plush: the zero-risk crowd pleaser
Mini plush work for every demographic in a Secret Santa draw. You do not need to know whether your recipient collects cards, plays the game, or just likes Pokémon from childhood.
The Pokémon Mocchi Mocchi Mini Pikachu (13 cm, by Takara Tomy) is a round, exaggeratedly soft plush designed for tactile appeal. At $14.99, observed October 28, 2026, it sits comfortably under the $20 cap.
Pikachu is the safest character pick in any Secret Santa scenario. Recognition is near-universal, even among people who last touched a Pokémon product in the late 1990s.
The Pokémon 5-inch Sleeping Plush line features characters in a curled, sleeping pose. Sweets and Geeks lists the Igglybuff version at $15.99, observed October 28, 2026. The sleeping format is notably desk-friendly: the plush stays in place rather than tipping over.
Some shops sell assorted variants, adding a small element of surprise if the recipient opens it at the event.
See the full plush range in the Pokémon 2026 holiday gift guide for larger picks and higher-budget options.
Keychains: practical and wearable
A keychain is the lowest-friction Secret Santa gift for an adult recipient. It is practical, non-perishable, and takes up almost no space.
The Pokémon Funism Snorlax Keychain with Poké Ball is a chunky rubber figure of Snorlax alongside a miniature Poké Ball capsule. At $9.99, observed October 28, 2026, it leaves room to add a small pack or a pin to reach closer to the $20 ceiling.
The Funism line uses a rounded, exaggerated sculpt style rather than standard-proportioned character figures. That approachable tone suits a workplace Secret Santa draw better than a replica figurine.
Enamel pin badges are a useful pairing if you land under budget. Cool Spot Gaming lists individual Pokémon pins from $4.49, including Eevee and Pikachu badges, observed October 28, 2026.
Two pins plus the Snorlax keychain comes to roughly $19. The pins clip to a bag or jacket, which gives the recipient something wearable even if they do not use a keychain.
LEGO Jigglypuff Concert 72159: the only set under $20
The LEGO Pokémon SMART Play range launched in 2026 and spans sets from $14.99 to over $100. The Jigglypuff Concert 72159 is the only entry in the line priced under $20 as of October 28, 2026.
At $14.99, it is the lowest-priced licensed Pokémon building set currently available from a major brand. The next step up in the LEGO Pokémon SMART Play lineup is the Charmander and Geodude's Cavern Clash 72157 at $19.99, and the line then jumps to $69.99 and above. Barnes & Noble and the LEGOLAND Resort shop both list 72159 in stock, observed October 28, 2026.
The SMART Play sets are designed to work with an optional companion app. The physical build stands on its own and displays fine without it.
For a younger fan, the app adds interactive features. Either way, the gift is the building experience.

Some Pokémon products look right for the price range but are not good Secret Santa picks.
Avoid themed decks and trainer kits under $20. These are designed for someone learning the TCG, and giving a 60-card deck to a casual fan leaves them with something they cannot use. A single booster pack or a plush lands better.
Avoid assorted mystery grab bags from private sellers. Listings titled "Pokémon mystery lots" in the $12-20 range are not licensed products and the contents are unverified. Stick to sealed, named products from identifiable shops.
Mini tins (like the Lumiose City range at $14-16) contain two to three booster packs and are reasonable value. The catch for Secret Santa: tins telegraph their contents through the box shape. A flat sleeved pack or a small plush wraps more cleanly if presentation matters at your event.
Pair it with
To fill the $20 budget more completely, pair the Journey Together sleeved pack ($6.95) with the Snorlax Funism keychain ($9.99). Together they reach $16.94, observed October 28, 2026, leaving room for a single pin badge from $4.49.
A sleeved booster pack fits alongside a keychain inside a standard card box or small envelope without adding bulk. Two items read as a more considered gift than one.
For higher-budget occasions, the Pokémon Christmas gifts guide covers ETBs, collector tins, and premium plush.
FAQ: Pokémon Secret Santa gifts under $20
What is the best Pokémon Secret Santa gift under $20?
A sleeved single booster pack from the current set (Journey Together, $6.95) or the LEGO Jigglypuff Concert 72159 ($14.99). The pack works for anyone who has ever collected; the LEGO set works for anyone who likes building.
Are Pokémon booster packs a good Secret Santa gift?
Yes, as long as you frame them correctly. A single pack is an experience gift, not a value proposition. The recipient opens 10 cards and keeps whatever they pull.
Do not suggest it might contain something valuable.
Is there a LEGO Pokémon set under $20?
Yes. The LEGO Pokémon SMART Play: Jigglypuff Concert 72159 is listed at $14.99 from multiple shops as of October 28, 2026. It is the only set in the current LEGO Pokémon range below the $20 mark.
What Pokémon plush fits a $20 Secret Santa limit?
The Mocchi Mocchi Mini Pikachu (13 cm, $14.99) and the 5-inch Sleeping Plush ($15.99 at Sweets and Geeks) both sit under $20. Both are small enough to fit in a standard gift bag.
Should I buy a Pokémon mystery box as a Secret Santa gift?
No. Reseller mystery lots with unverified contents are not reliable Secret Santa gifts. Stick to sealed, named products from identifiable shops for a clean unboxing experience.
