Dragon Storm (SM6a): English Equivalent Is Dragon Majesty
By Dexhaul Team · October 19, 2026 · 5 min read
Japanese Dragon Storm (SM6a, April 6, 2018, 59 cards) is the source set for English Dragon Majesty (DRM, September 7, 2018, 78 cards). The two sets cover the same Dragon-type Pokémon, but Dragon Majesty landed five months later and added 19 cards that were never part of Dragon Storm's Japanese product release.

Both sets were "mini" products, sold in individual booster packs and specialty collection boxes rather than standalone booster boxes. Neither Dragon Storm nor Dragon Majesty ever had a standard 36-pack booster box.
What's different inside
Dragon Majesty expanded the Dragon Storm card pool significantly. The 19 extra English cards are the unique insight here: they include Dragon-type Pokémon that debuted in other Japanese sets or were distributed as Japanese promos, consolidated into Dragon Majesty for the English-language release.
| Feature | Dragon Storm (SM6a) | Dragon Majesty (DRM) |
|---|---|---|
| Base card count | 59 | 70 (numbered; plus 8 secret rares) |

The most important addition in Dragon Majesty is Dragonite-GX (67/70), which was not part of Dragon Storm's 59-card roster. Dragonite is a sought-after card for Dragon-type deck builders who want the full GX suite in English.

Japanese or English: which version to buy
Price per pack
Dragon Storm JP packs originally retailed at approximately 180 yen. On the secondary market today, both sets are collector items from a completed print run. Individual Dragon Majesty booster packs are observed at $97+ USD on DexHaul (October 19, 2026), reflecting their 2018 vintage status. Japanese Dragon Storm single packs carry a similar secondary premium for collectors targeting SM6a.
Neither set is an opening-value play at current prices. Both are collector acquisitions.
Play legality
Dragon Majesty is legal in Pokémon TCG Expanded format for English-language events. Dragon Storm cards are legal in Japanese Expanded, but are not valid in English-format sanctioned play. If you compete in English tournaments, the EN DRM print is the only option.
Language
Dragon Storm packs have Japanese text throughout. Every card, attack name, ability, and trainer effect is in Japanese. For players who read English, Dragon Majesty is the natural choice. For collectors who display sealed product or grade individual cards, Japanese first-print Dragon Storm copies carry a separate collector premium in their own market.
Grading
PSA and BGS accept both Japanese and English cards. Japanese Dragon Storm copies graded by PSA or CGC are labeled with their SM6a set. A PSA 10 Rayquaza-GX from Dragon Storm versus a PSA 10 DRM Rayquaza-GX are distinct population entries, which matters to registry collectors building full-set runs.
Dragon Majesty products and where the set appears
Dragon Majesty was sold in several sealed formats at launch. The Elite Trainer Box (ETB) included eight DRM booster packs, sleeves, dice, and a collector's box. Specialty collections such as the Legends of Unova GX Collection and the Latias/Latios Pin Collections bundled packs with promo cards not available in standard boosters.
None of these products were released in Japan. Dragon Storm in Japan was sold as a premium box set rather than an Elite Trainer Box, and those Japanese configurations are distinct from the English DRM ETB.
