Remix Bout (SM11a): English Equivalent Hidden Fates (2026)

Pokémon Remix Bout SM11a Japanese Booster Box
Pokemon Remix Bout SM11a Japanese Booster Box · £749.99 GBP

Japanese Remix Bout (SM11a) is the direct source set for English Hidden Fates. SM11a released in Japan on August 2, 2019; the English counterpart followed on August 23, 2019.

The short answer: if you want booster box pulls, you buy Remix Bout as a Japanese import. If you want Shiny Vault cards, you buy English Hidden Fates products. The Shiny Vault has no Japanese equivalent in SM11a at all.

What Remix Bout brings to the box

Remix Bout was the third and final "high-class" Sun and Moon special set in Japan, following Cosmic Eclipse (SM12) and the earlier Dream League. The set concept was a remix: it gathered TAG TEAM GX combinations from across the Sun and Moon era and reprinted them in a single focused release.

The core TAG TEAM GX lineup includes Charizard and Braixen GX, Blastoise and Piplup GX, and Mewtwo and Mew GX, among others. Each has both a regular holo version and a Full Art SR version (numbered above 064/064). The chase SR is Charizard and Braixen GX at 068/064, which commands consistently high secondary prices.

A 30-pack Remix Bout box yields 150 cards at 5 cards per pack. The SR hit rate follows standard Japanese high-class set odds: roughly 1 SR per 2 packs on average, though this varies by batch. The UR rainbow rares (numbered 073/064 and above) are the rarest pulls.

For collectors who prefer the Japanese product experience, Remix Bout offers something Hidden Fates EN cannot: a proper booster box. Opening a full Japanese box is a distinct experience compared to cracking individual tins or collection sets on the English side.

The Shiny Vault: what is only in English Hidden Fates

This is the defining difference between the two products.

The Shiny Vault is a 94-card sub-set unique to Hidden Fates EN, numbered SV1/SV94 through SV94/SV94. It contains shiny (alternate color) versions of Pokémon GX, Trainer Full Arts, and a handful of Pokémon V cards.

None of these cards exist in SM11a Remix Bout. None were ever printed in Japan as part of this release.

The most sought-after Shiny Vault card is Shiny Charizard GX (SV49/SV94), a black Charizard with a vivid alternate artwork. Shiny Mewtwo GX (SV57/SV94) and Shiny Rayquaza GX (SV69/SV94) are also among the top pulls. Japanese collectors who want these cards must specifically acquire English Hidden Fates products.

Japan's nearest equivalent for shiny GX cards was Shiny Star V (S4a), released in November 2020, over a year after Remix Bout. That set is a completely different product in both era and card pool. The Hidden Fates Shiny Vault is not a Japanese reprint of anything: it was designed specifically for the English market.

One card that often confuses buyers is Detective Pikachu GX. It appears on Hidden Fates tin packaging and inside some Hidden Fates collection products, but it is a promotional card: it is not part of the SM11a set and has no Remix Bout equivalent. It is also not part of the main Hidden Fates set numbering.

Japanese or English How to choose

Buy Remix Bout (SM11a) if you want booster box pulls

The Japanese booster box is the only way to open 30 packs of this set. If the box-opening experience matters to you, or if you collect Japanese-language cards specifically, Remix Bout is the product. The SR hit rate in the Japanese box is strong for a 64-card set, and import sellers now stock it reliably.

Buy English Hidden Fates if you want the Shiny Vault

No amount of Remix Bout boxes will yield a Shiny Charizard GX or a Shiny Mewtwo GX. Those cards exist only in English products: the Charizard GX Tin, Gyarados GX Tin, Raichu GX Tin, GX Collection boxes, and the Elite Trainer Box. If the Shiny Vault is the target, Hidden Fates EN is the only path.

Grading and competitive play considerations

PSA and CGC grade both Japanese and English Hidden Fates cards.

For competitive play, only English cards are legal in Pokémon Organized Play events in English-speaking regions. Japanese Remix Bout cards are not legal as substitutes in English-format tournaments, per standard Play! Pokémon rules.

Frequently asked questions

Is Remix Bout (SM11a) the same as Hidden Fates?

SM11a Remix Bout is the Japanese source set for the Hidden Fates main set. The main sets share most cards, but English Hidden Fates adds the 94-card Shiny Vault, which has no SM11a equivalent.

Why was Hidden Fates never sold as a booster box?

The Pokémon Company International made a deliberate product decision to release Hidden Fates exclusively in tins, collection boxes, and the Elite Trainer Box format. No official English booster box was produced, making loose Hidden Fates packs secondary-market products only.

Can I get Shiny Vault cards from a Remix Bout booster box?

No. Shiny Vault cards (SV1/SV94 through SV94/SV94) are exclusive to English Hidden Fates products. They do not appear in any Japanese set, including SM11a.

What is the rarest card in Remix Bout (SM11a)?

The ultra rare (UR) rainbow rare versions of the TAG TEAM GX cards, numbered above 073/064, are the hardest pulls. Charizard and Braixen GX in Full Art SR form (068/064) is the highest-demand single from the set on the secondary market.

Which Hidden Fates EN products contain Shiny Vault packs?

All Hidden Fates EN sealed products include Shiny Vault packs alongside main set packs: the GX Tins (Charizard, Gyarados, Raichu), the GX Collection boxes, and the Elite Trainer Box. Each product includes a mix of both pack types.
