Hidden Fates ETB (2019): Contents and MSRP
By Dexhaul Team · October 19, 2026 · 5 min read
The Hidden Fates Elite Trainer Box is one of the most sought-after ETBs in the modern era of the Pokémon TCG.
It shipped on September 20, 2019 with an MSRP of $49.99 USD and packed 10 Hidden Fates booster packs, a full-art foil Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno-GX promo card, 65 card sleeves, 45 basic Energy cards, 6 damage counter dice, and a competition coin. The set it draws from, documented by Serebii, is an English-exclusive sub-set that introduced the Shiny Vault: 94 alternate-art shiny cards numbered SV1–SV94 that exist nowhere else in the Sun and Moon era.
What's Inside the Hidden Fates ETB
Every item that comes in the box, with notes on the promo card:
| Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Hidden Fates booster packs | 10 | Each pack contains 10 cards; Shiny Vault pulls are possible in every pack |
| Full-art foil promo card | 1 | Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno-GX, a Tag Team GX card exclusive to this ETB |
| Card sleeves | 65 | Sized for standard Pokémon TCG cards |
| Basic Energy cards | 45 | Mix of standard Energy types |
| Damage counter dice | 6 | Standard six-sided damage counters |
| Competition coin | 1 | For determining who goes first |
| Collectible storage box | 1 | The ETB outer box doubles as a card storage tin |
The ETB is the only product that includes the full-art foil promo. Standalone Hidden Fates tins each include 3 booster packs and a separate foil promo (Charizard-GX, Gyarados-GX, or Raichu-GX), so buyers wanting the most packs per purchase have always targeted the ETB.

MSRP and Price Per Pack
The original retail price and what it means per pack:
| Format | MSRP (2019) | Pack count | MSRP per pack |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hidden Fates Elite Trainer Box | $49.99 USD | 10 | $5.00 |
| Hidden Fates Tin (Charizard, Gyarados, or Raichu) | $19.99 USD | 3 | $6.66 |
| Hidden Fates booster pack (singles) | ~$3.99–$4.99 USD | 1 | $3.99–$4.99 |
At launch, the ETB offered the lowest cost per pack of any Hidden Fates product. Observed prices from independent sellers today reflect secondary market demand: the ETB ranges widely above MSRP, with listings observed on October 19, 2026 starting around $49.99 USD from some sellers and significantly higher from others. Individual booster packs now sell for $45–$123 USD each depending on condition and seller.
How It Compares
Hidden Fates sits in a small group of late Sun & Moon ETBs that remain highly collectible years after release. Here is how the box compares to two of its era-mates:
| Product | Release year | Pack count | MSRP | Promo card | Shiny Vault |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hidden Fates ETB | 2019 | 10 | $49.99 | Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno-GX | Yes (94 cards) |
| Shining Fates ETB (2021) | 2021 | 10 | $49.99 | Shiny Charizard V | Yes (Shiny Vault cards) |
| Champion's Path ETB (2020) | 2020 | 10 | $44.99 | Charizard V | No |
Hidden Fates and Shining Fates are the only ETBs in the Sun and Moon and Sword and Shield eras to include Shiny Vault pulls, which is why both sit above MSRP on the secondary market today.
The Shiny Vault: What Makes Hidden Fates Different
Hidden Fates introduced something no English Pokémon TCG set had done before: a parallel sub-set of 94 alternate-art shiny Pokémon cards, all in the same booster packs.
These Shiny Vault cards (SV1–SV94) feature a distinctive black background and textured holo treatment. They cover a wide spread of Pokémon, from common Stage 1s to Shiny Charizard-GX (SV49/94), and can appear in any pack from the set, including packs pulled from the ETB. Serebii's Hidden Fates card list covers every Shiny Vault entry with artwork previews.
The critical point for buyers: the Japanese equivalent of Hidden Fates was Remix Bout (SM11a, released July 2019), but Remix Bout did not include a Shiny Vault. The shiny alternate-art cards were released separately in Japan as SM-P promotional cards, not as standard booster pulls.
English Hidden Fates is the only version of this content where shiny-alt-art Pokémon could be pulled from a sealed pack. That structural difference is why the set carries collector premiums it has held since 2019.

Who It's For, and Who Should Skip It
The Hidden Fates ETB suits a collector who wants the most value from a sealed Hidden Fates purchase. Ten packs gives more Shiny Vault entries than a tin, and the Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno-GX promo is exclusive to this product.
Skip it if your goal is simply to add a single Hidden Fates GX card to a binder. Buying individual singles is more efficient. The ETB makes most sense sealed, as a complete collectible, or opened when you want a full-set pulling experience.
If you are newer to vintage sealed products, also check the Hidden Fates Shiny Vault guide for a breakdown of which Shiny Vault cards appear in the set and how the pull rates work across products.

The ETB includes a full-art foil Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno-GX promo card. This card is exclusive to the ETB and does not appear in the regular Hidden Fates pack pulls.
Is the Hidden Fates ETB worth buying sealed?
That depends on your goal. For a display piece or a vintage sealed collectible, a sealed ETB holds its identity as a complete product.
For pulls, the tins or single packs serve the same set at lower entry points. See the full breakdown at DexHaul's ETB guide.
What is the difference between Hidden Fates and Shining Fates?
Both are English-exclusive sub-sets with a Shiny Vault. Hidden Fates was released in September 2019 (Sun and Moon era), while Shining Fates arrived in February 2021 (Sword and Shield era). Shining Fates is generally easier to find; Hidden Fates commands higher secondary market prices.
