Pokémon 151 Alakazam ex Collection (2023): Contents and MSRP
By Dexhaul Team · October 9, 2026 · 5 min read
The Pokémon 151 Alakazam ex Collection contains four Pokémon TCG: Scarlet and Violet 151 booster packs plus three foil promo cards: a foil Alakazam ex, a foil Kadabra, and a foil Abra. It released on October 6, 2023, two weeks after the main SV 151 set launch.
This is an SV3.5 Character Collection. The pack count is lower than the 151 ETB, but the three guaranteed foils span the full Abra evolutionary line. That makes this the only standard sealed 151 product containing all three evolutionary stages together in foil.

The promo Alakazam ex versus the set cards
The SV 151 set contains two separate Alakazam ex cards: the Double Rare at #065/165 and the Special Illustration Rare at card #199/165 (Serebii). The promo in this collection carries different artwork and no set number.
Buyers searching for the SIR and finding this listing are looking at a completely different card. The SIR can only be pulled from booster packs. The promo is exclusive to this collection and has no secondary market equivalent.

MSRP and price per pack compared to other 151 products
The launch MSRP for the 151 Alakazam ex Collection is not confirmed on a dated primary source checked today. Observed prices from independent shops start at $99.99 USD as of October 9, 2026, with most listings between $109.99 and $165.00. The table below uses confirmed MSRPs for the adjacent 151 products.
| Product | MSRP | Packs | Per pack at MSRP |
|---|---|---|---|
| 151 Alakazam ex Collection (this product) | Not confirmed | 4 | N/A |
| 151 Elite Trainer Box | $49.99 USD | 9 | $5.56 |
| 151 Binder Collection | $49.99 USD | 4 | $12.50 |
| 151 Ultra-Premium Collection | $119.99 USD | 16 | $7.50 |
Pack value is not the reason to buy this collection. The ETB delivers more than twice the packs at the same confirmed MSRP as the Binder Collection. The Alakazam ex Collection's value argument rests entirely on the three exclusive foil promos, not the booster packs.
How it compares to the nearest 151 products
| Feature | Alakazam ex Collection | 151 ETB | 151 Binder Collection |
|---|---|---|---|
| Booster packs | 4 | 9 | 4 |
| Exclusive promo cards | 3: Alakazam ex, Kadabra, Abra | 1: full-art Snorlax | None |
| Storage accessory | None | 65 sleeves, dice, coin, deck box | 20-page 9-pocket binder |
| Release date | October 6, 2023 | September 22, 2023 | September 22, 2023 |
The collection beats both alternatives on exclusive promo count: three foils versus one for the ETB, and none for the Binder Collection. It loses on pack count versus the ETB and on storage versus the Binder Collection.
The tradeoff is clear: choose this box when the Abra line promos are what you want, and choose the ETB for pulls. For a complete map of every 151 sealed product, the Pokémon 151 Kanto collector guide covers each tier from booster bundles to the UPC.
Release timeline
| Date | Product | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| September 22, 2023 | Pokémon TCG: Scarlet and Violet 151 (main set) | ETB and Binder Collection launch same day; tcg.pokemon.com |
| October 6, 2023 | 151 Alakazam ex Collection (this product) | Character collection wave; same date as the 151 UPC |
| October 6, 2023 | 151 Ultra-Premium Collection | $119.99 MSRP; the set's flagship product |
The two-week gap between the main set and this collection is typical for character collection accessories in the SV era. The ETB and Binder Collection launched with the set on September 22, 2023, while the character collections and the UPC followed on October 6, 2023.
Who should buy it, and who should skip it
Buy it if you collect the Abra evolutionary line or want all three foil promos as a display trio. The promo Alakazam ex artwork appears nowhere else in the 151 set, and the foil Kadabra is the only foil Kadabra card in any standard 151 sealed product.
Skip it if you are chasing pulls. Four packs from a 2023 special set offer no meaningful variance advantage over buying individual packs. The 151 ETB gives you more than twice the packs plus accessories at $49.99 MSRP, making it the stronger option for anyone primarily opening boosters.
Also skip it if you want the Alakazam ex SIR (#199/165). The promo in this collection and the SIR have completely different artwork, different legal statuses in sanctioned play, and very different secondary market values. The collection does not substitute for buying the SIR separately.
Frequently asked questions
How many packs are in the Pokémon 151 Alakazam ex Collection?
Four booster packs from the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet and Violet 151 special set, each containing 10 cards. The 151 ETB contains nine packs for $49.99 MSRP, so the collection trades pack count for exclusive promos.
Is the Alakazam ex in this collection the same as the SIR from the set?
No. The collection includes a promo with distinct artwork and no set number. The Special Illustration Rare is card #199/165 and can only be obtained from booster packs, not from this product.
What is the Alakazam ex Double Rare card number in 151?
The Double Rare is #065/165. The SIR is #199/165. The promo in this collection carries no set number and is entirely separate from both.
When did the 151 Alakazam ex Collection release?
October 6, 2023, two weeks after the 151 main set launched on September 22, 2023. It released on the same day as the 151 Ultra-Premium Collection.
Which 151 sealed product has the most packs?
The 151 Ultra-Premium Collection leads at 16 packs ($119.99 MSRP), followed by the ETB at 9 packs ($49.99 MSRP). The Alakazam ex Collection and Binder Collection each include 4 packs.
