30th Celebration Pre-Launch FAQ: Your Biggest Questions About September 16 Answered
By Dexhaul Team · September 6, 2026
Specialty ETB pre-orders for September 16 have not all closed. Collector Store LLC lists the standard 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box at $149.99 with an expected September 16 release date. Galactic Toys carries the same product at $179.95, also open. Ten days from launch, these are the eight questions collectors ask most.
The 30th Celebration set spans three release waves: September, October, and November. Each wave carries distinct products with different urgency levels. Pre-order windows, Wave 1 versus Wave 2, ex Box promos, and the missed-ETB problem each have a plain answer below.
Ordering Before September 16
Can I still lock in a specialty ETB pre-order for September 16?
Yes. The specialty-channel allocation window has closed at many merchants, but not at all of them. Collector Store LLC ($149.99) and Galactic Toys ($179.95) both show open pre-order listings for the standard ETB as of this writing. These are independent specialty retailers operating within allocations they received from distributors ahead of launch.
Specialty allocations for major TCG anniversary releases are locked by distributors weeks before launch. When a merchant's allocation sells through, no additional units arrive from the same wave. The window that remains is what those merchants still hold. If you need a specialty ETB pre-order, search now rather than waiting.
Why do ETB prices range from $149.99 to $179.95 across different shops?
Independent specialty merchants set their own prices. Each factors in pre-order risk, shipping overhead, and when they opened their allocation window relative to initial demand. There is no regulated uniform price for TCG products sold through independent channels.
The product inside the box is the same regardless of which merchant you buy from. The spread you see is merchant pricing variance, not product variance. A $30 difference in merchant price reflects their individual business model, not a difference in what you receive.
The Wave Structure
What is Wave 1 versus Wave 2, and what is in each?
Wave 1 launches September 16. It includes the Elite Trainer Box, the Booster Pack (sold individually), the Knock Out Collection, the ex Boxes (Greninja ex and Sylveon ex), the Poster Collection, and the Tech Sticker Collection. Every product in this group ships on the same date.
Wave 2 starts in October with the Booster Bundle and continues in November with the Figure Collections and Ultra Premium Collection. These are not the same products restocked: they are different SKUs with different configurations, different promo content, and different launch dates.
If a listing says "Wave 2" or ships by November, it is a separate product, not the Wave 1 ETB or Knock Out Collection returning to stock. The October Booster Bundle at $84.95 is the first Wave 2 product. It contains six booster packs and is the format to consider if you want the set but missed the September window.
Is the Pokémon Center ETB a different product from the standard specialty-market ETB?
Yes. The Pokémon Center releases a version-exclusive ETB for major TCG anniversary launches, which typically includes promo content separate from the standard retail edition. For large Pokémon TCG releases, the PC listing has historically opened its pre-order window in the final days or week before launch with tighter quantities than independent channels.
If you want the Pokémon Center exclusive specifically, watch the PC site closely as September 16 approaches. Pre-orders at independent merchants for the standard ETB are a separate product; buying one does not give you the other's promo content. Both exist as distinct SKUs in the broader lineup.
Mid-Tier Products
Do I need both the Greninja ex Box and Sylveon ex Box to get the full promo set?
Yes. Each ex Box includes a version-exclusive promo card not found in the other box. Buying one does not give you both promos. This matters because some merchant listings are described as "one at random," meaning you receive either Greninja or Sylveon with no choice. If you need a specific version, avoid random listings.
MHDEALSPLUS lists both ex Boxes as a set at $139.95. That removes the "at random" problem entirely and puts both promos in one order. Purchasing each individually from merchants selling specific versions typically costs $59 to $74 per box, reaching a similar total across two separate orders.
Is the Knock Out Collection a Wave 1 or Wave 2 product?
Wave 1. The standard Knock Out Collection launches September 16, currently listed at $29.95 from MHDEALSPLUS. A separate Wave 2 Knock Out Collection is scheduled for late October. That is a different product batch, not the same collection returning to stock after Wave 1 sells out.
At $29.95, the Knock Out Collection is the most accessible Wave 1 entry point after a single booster pack. If your pre-order confirmation references September 16, you have Wave 1. Pre-orders referencing October or "Wave 2" are the later batch.
If You Have Missed a Window or Are Planning for Wave 2
I missed the ETB at my preferred shop. What are my options now?
Three paths remain. First, DexHaul's search surfaces open pre-order slots from merchants you may not have checked. Not every merchant sells through at the same time, and new listings occasionally open as merchants reassess their allocation. Second, mass retail chains are expected to stock the ETB on September 16 for in-store purchase with no pre-order required, though per-store quantities are not predictable in advance.
Third, purchasing 30th Celebration singles after launch is often more cost-efficient than opening sealed product in search of specific cards, particularly for Futuristic Rares, which command the highest post-launch singles prices in the set. Individual booster packs at $14.95 each from Galactic Toys give you the set experience without committing to a full ETB.
Which Wave 2 products should I lock in a pre-order for before September 16?
The Ultra Premium Collection carries the most time-sensitive Wave 2 decision. Independent specialty merchants currently list the Night and Day UPC variants between $499 and $600. The Pokémon Center will open its own UPC listing with limited quantity when its pre-order window arrives. Securing a merchant pre-order now hedges against missing that window entirely.
The Figure Collections (Mew and Mewtwo, November) carry lower urgency. Pre-orders remain available at $89.95 to $124.95 per box, and the November launch date removes any September 16 pressure. If the budget requires prioritization, the UPC is the call to make before launch day. The Figure Collections can be addressed in October.
