30th Celebration Packs: All-Foil Cards, 30 Pikachu Variants, and What Each Format Contains
By Dexhaul Team · September 3, 2026
Every booster pack in the 30th Celebration set is all-foil, and every pack guarantees one of 30 unique Pikachu rare cards. That is not how a standard Pokémon TCG set works, and it changes how you should think about which product to buy.
Releasing worldwide on September 16, 2026, the 30th Celebration expansion is part of the Pokémon 30th Anniversary. Before you pre-order, here is a clear breakdown of what each format actually contains.
What Is in a 30th Celebration Booster Pack?
Each English booster pack contains five cards plus one foil Basic Energy and a code card for Pokémon TCG Live. Every one of those five cards is foil.
In a standard Pokémon TCG set, only the rare slot (and sometimes a reverse holo) is foil. In 30th Celebration, all five cards in every pack carry a holofoil treatment, including the Basic Energy. Every card you pull has that finish.
On top of that, one slot in every pack is a Pikachu rare card. There are 30 different Pikachu variants in the set, each with a distinct holofoil pattern and the Pokémon 30th Anniversary logo in the card text area. Opening nine packs in an Elite Trainer Box means nine different Pikachu cards guaranteed, each one unique.
The Day and Night Theme
The 30th Celebration set is built around a day and night concept: Espeon represents the day side, Umbreon represents the night side. The two Ultra Premium Collection boxes each lean into this theme with matching promo lineups. The Night version features Umbreon ex and Pikachu ex promos; the Day version features Espeon ex and Pikachu ex.
The ETB takes a different path. Its promo is a full-art foil Nidorina. Nidoqueen, its evolution, appeared in the original Base Set, which grounds the choice in the anniversary's Gen 1 nostalgia without duplicating the Mew ex and Mewtwo ex headliners found in packs.
Elite Trainer Box: 9 Packs and the Nidorina Promo
The ETB is the most widely purchased format for TCG collectors. At $179.95, it includes nine 30th Celebration booster packs, a full-art foil Nidorina promo, 16 foil Basic Energy cards, 65 card sleeves, damage-counter dice, a competition-legal coin-flip die, and a collector's box with six card dividers.
Nine packs means nine Pikachu rare variants guaranteed. The accessories add real value: official Pokémon card sleeves retail separately at $10-15, and the collector's box keeps sealed product organized long-term. The ETB is built for both the opening experience and storage.
A code card for Pokémon TCG Live is also included, letting you redeem the promo card digitally.
Ex Tins and the Sylveon ex Box: 4 Packs Each
The 30th Celebration ex Tins come in two options: Sylveon ex and Greninja ex. Each tin includes one foil promo card featuring that Pokémon ex, plus four 30th Celebration booster packs. Four packs means four Pikachu variants.
The Sylveon ex Box at $64.99 contains the same four packs and the same Sylveon ex foil promo, plus a foil oversize version of Sylveon ex. That oversized card accounts for the $5 difference. Both formats give you the same pack count, so the decision comes down to whether you want the display piece.
Battle Decks: No Booster Packs
The Battle Decks contain no booster packs. That matters more than it sounds.
Each Battle Deck is a ready-to-play 60-card deck built around a featured ex (Espeon ex, Umbreon ex, or Victini ex). You get the deck, damage counters, a plastic coin, a deck box, a double-sided playmat, a strategy sheet, and a code card. There is no random pull, no foil rare slot, and no Pikachu rare inside the box.
For someone new to the game, a Battle Deck is the right entry point: the deck is functional out of the box and teaches the current format. For a collector expecting to open packs, it is the wrong product. The 30th Celebration Battle Decks are well-built for play and a poor choice for the opening experience.
Ultra Premium Collection Night: 29 Packs and the Classic Collection
The UPC Night is the flagship product in the 30th Celebration lineup, and it is the only retail format that includes a Classic Collection booster pack.
Inside: 29 standard 30th Celebration booster packs, one Classic Collection booster pack, two foil promo cards (Umbreon ex and Pikachu ex), a playmat featuring Umbreon, Mewtwo, and Pikachu, 65 matching card sleeves, a deck box, and a collector's box with dividers. That Classic Collection pack contains three cards from the set's Classic Collection subset.
The Classic Collection Subset
The Classic Collection is a dedicated subset within 30th Celebration, accessible only through the UPC products. The three-card Classic Collection packs pull from a curated pool of cards styled with callbacks to historic Pokémon TCG artwork and themes, distinct from the main set's 30th Celebration card design. It is the one part of the set you cannot access through any other product type.
If the Classic Collection subset matters to you as a collector, the UPC Night or UPC Day is the only avenue. The individual Classic Collection packs are not sold separately at retail.
The Sylveon ex Box vs the ex Tin: A Clear Side-by-Side
Two products, nearly identical names, five-dollar gap. Here is what each contains:
- ex Tin (Sylveon ex) at $59.99: 4 booster packs, 1 foil promo Sylveon ex
- Sylveon ex Box at $64.99: 4 booster packs, 1 foil promo Sylveon ex, 1 foil oversize Sylveon ex card
Same pack count, same standard promo. The Box adds the oversized foil card for display: worth the extra $5 if you plan to frame the art, redundant if you are opening for packs.
Format Summary: Packs per Product
If pack count is your primary consideration, here is where each format lands:
- Booster Pack (single): 1 pack, $14.95
- Battle Deck (Espeon ex, Umbreon ex, or Victini ex): 0 packs, $20.00 to $34.99
- Ex Tin or Sylveon ex Box: 4 packs, $59.99 to $64.99
- Elite Trainer Box: 9 packs plus Nidorina promo and accessories, $179.95
- Ultra Premium Collection Night or Day: 29 packs plus 1 Classic Collection pack, two ex promos, and accessories, $549.95
The Battle Deck row is the one that catches people off guard. In Pokémon TCG, "deck" means a built, ready-to-play 60-card set, not a box of booster packs. Knowing that before you order saves a frustrating unboxing.
Every other format gives you standard packs: all-foil cards, one Pikachu rare per pack, and the full set pool including Futuristic Rare slots for Mew ex and Mewtwo ex.
