The Pokémon x 73Studio Collection: Every T-Shirt in the Range, Ranked

The 73Studio x Pokémon collection is one of two licensed Pokémon fashion lines sold through Culture Kings, and the two are easy to confuse if you haven't looked closely.

The older "Pokémon By Loiter" line leans premium and heavyweight, with a Mewtwo tee at $39 and a Snorlax Sherpa hoodie at $132. It's streetwear-adjacent at the premium end of the market. The 73Studio line runs alongside it at the same retailer, at a narrower price band ($39–$42), with a different design philosophy: bold character illustration, deliberately graphic, built to be noticed.

Ten designs. One collaboration. Here's how they stack up.

What Makes 73Studio Different

73Studio is a fashion design studio, not a TCG or plush brand. Their Pokémon licensing deal sits in the streetwear space, not the merchandise space.

That distinction matters. Pokémon Center Japan produces plush and apparel built around character fidelity and collector appeal. Loiter produces premium basics with a Pokémon character as the anchor.

73Studio builds graphic t-shirts where the Pokémon itself is the composition: large-format, often with text treatments ("LEGENDARY," "VINTAGE"), on a black or white base.

The result is a tee that reads more like an art print than a licensed product. Whether that's what you want depends entirely on the occasion.

The $39 Standard Tier: Eight Designs

Eight of the ten tees sit at $39. Standard print on a black or white base, with large character artwork and minimal additional elements.

The Charizard tee ($39, white) is the most straightforward buy in the collection for anyone who just wants a clean, recognizable Pokémon on a shirt. White base, large Charizard illustration, no layered text or distressed treatment. If you're buying one 73Studio tee for everyday wear, this one has the broadest appeal.

The Dragonite ($39, white) works the same way. Two Kanto Pokémon on white with a standard print that works across most casual contexts.

The Lugia ($39, black) steps into the Legendary tier. Lugia is the mascot of the Johto Silver games and one of the most visually distinctive Legendary designs in the franchise. On a black base, the design reads as a strong silhouette.

The Kanto Legendary Birds: Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres

Three separate $39 tees cover the Kanto Legendary Birds individually. That's worth noting: you can buy all three as a set.

Articuno (Ice/Flying), Zapdos (Electric/Flying), and Moltres (Fire/Flying) are the original three Kanto Legendary Birds, introduced in Generation I. Each has its own tee in the 73Studio collection, all at $39 on a black base with the "LEGENDARY" text treatment.

These three tees have a direct connection to the 30th Celebration TCG set launching September 16. The Kanto Legendary Trio Poster Collection in that launch features Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres as the three foil promo cards. A collector who picks up the poster collection and wants to wear the same trio has all three tees available right now.

The Zapdos design (the hero image at the top of this page) is the strongest visual of the three. Zapdos is the most graphically striking of the Legendary Birds in flat-print form, with sharp angular lines that work well at t-shirt scale. Articuno and Moltres are equally well-executed; the choice between them is simply which Legendary is your favorite.

The Ghost-Type Pairing: Gengar and Mimikyu on One Tee

The Gengar/Mimikyu tee ($39, black) is the only multi-Pokémon design in the 73Studio range. Both are Ghost-types: Gengar is Generation I's iconic shadow, while Mimikyu is the Ghost/Fairy from Alola whose lore centers on wearing a Pikachu disguise to feel less lonely.

Pairing them on a single tee isn't a coincidence. The two are the most recognizable Ghost-types across their respective generations, and they share a design language: small, round silhouettes, big expressive eyes, dark coloring. They read naturally as a pair.

If you're buying for someone who loves Ghost-type Pokémon rather than any specific character, this is the right pick. It's also the only design in the collection that functions as a "duo" piece.

The $42 Vintage Tier: Snorlax and Rayquaza

Two designs carry the "Vintage" label and cost $42: Snorlax and Rayquaza.

The "Vintage" designation signals a different print technique. Standard 73Studio tees use a clean screen print with defined edges and solid color fills.

The Vintage tees use a deliberately washed-out or distressed finish, where the artwork has soft edges and a slightly faded look from the start. It's the same character art, but it reads as an older, worn piece rather than a fresh print.

The Rayquaza Vintage ($42, off-black) is the stronger of the two for collectors with any interest in the current TCG era. Rayquaza is the centrepiece of the Delta Reign Mega Evolution set expected in late 2026, and the Vintage print works particularly well with Rayquaza's elongated, high-detail design. The distressed finish softens the complexity of the artwork in a way that's intentional, not a compromise.

The Snorlax Vintage ($42, off-black) is the safer pick for gifting. Snorlax is one of the most recognized Pokémon designs outside of Pikachu and Charizard, the Vintage print is forgiving on silhouettes, and the off-black base is more versatile than straight black.

The Newest Addition: Armarouge and Ceruledge

$39.00 USD · Culture Kings US

Armarouge and Ceruledge are the version-exclusive Fire-types from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, introduced in 2022. Armarouge is exclusive to Scarlet; Ceruledge appears in Violet.

Their inclusion in the 73Studio range is significant. Every other design in the collection features Pokémon from Generation I (Kanto), II (Johto), or III (Hoenn): Charizard, Zapdos, Snorlax, Gengar, Lugia, Rayquaza. Armarouge and Ceruledge are Generation IX, Paldea-era Pokémon introduced less than four years ago.

That tells you something about the collaboration's timeline. 73Studio is actively expanding the range with newer Pokémon, not treating this as a nostalgia-only lineup. The Armarouge/Ceruledge tee is the one to watch if you follow the Scarlet/Violet era.

It's also the only design featuring the paired version-exclusive structure that Scarlet/Violet made central to its identity. Both Pokémon share a paired Charcadet pre-evolution but evolve based on items specific to each version, making them natural design partners.

Which Tee Is Right for You

The 73Studio collection is consistent in quality and narrow in price. The $3 gap between the standard and Vintage tiers is about the print technique, not the character.

For the most versatile single pick: the Charizard white tee. It works across the widest range of occasions and pairs with most wardrobes.

For fans of the current TCG era: the Rayquaza Vintage or the Lugia. Both tie directly to active collecting arcs in 2026.

For the 30th Celebration launch window: any of the Kanto Legendary Birds trio. Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres are the stars of the 30th Celebration Poster Collection launching September 16, and all three tees ship now.

For a Ghost-type focus: the Gengar/Mimikyu dual design is the only option in the collection and covers both generations of popular Ghost-type appeal in a single piece.
