Mega Feraligatr ex in 2026: A Buyer's Guide from $12 to $400

Mega Feraligatr ex arrives in the Ascended Heroes tin on August 28, but the Feraligatr catalog on DexHaul spans from a $12 Dragon Majesty single to a $400 vintage PSA slab. Which product fits your collection depends entirely on where you are starting from.

The New Release: Ascended Heroes Tin (August 28)
The Mega Feraligatr ex tin is one of three Ascended Heroes products launching August 28.
It contains a foil promo Mega Feraligatr ex card, an oversized lenticular card, and four Ascended Heroes booster packs from the ME2.5 set. The foil promo is a playable card. It is not the same as the Special Illustration Rare Mega Feraligatr ex (274/217) found inside booster packs, which features full-art extended illustration and trades as a single at significantly higher prices.
Pre-order pricing varies by merchant. US-based sellers are listing at $53.99 to $73.95. Canadian sellers sit around CA$99.95.
The tin is a pre-order as of writing, with shipping expected around the August 28 street date. Check whether the listing includes the lenticular card: product descriptions differ between sellers.
Start Here: The $12 to $20 Budget Tier
Two options exist for under $20 on DexHaul right now.
The Dragon Majesty Feraligatr (24/70) at $12.25 is a non-holo rare from the 2018 Sun & Moon sub-set. Non-holo means it surfaces in Near Mint condition consistently, which makes it a solid binder pick at this price. A clean entry for a type or Johto collection without committing to sealed product.
The Lumiose City Mini Tin at $16.02 is a Feraligatr-themed collectible tin with booster packs included. Mini tins from this line are shelf-display pieces rather than investment targets, but for a gift or a starter sealed product, the price is competitive. Zatu is a UK-based seller, so factor in shipping if you're ordering internationally.
The Mid-Range: $57 to $90
Two vintage-adjacent singles occupy this range, and they appeal to different collector instincts.
The HGSS07 Black Star Promo is the defining Feraligatr card from the HeartGold and SoulSilver era (2010). Released as a promotional holo during that generation's print cycle, it carries a distinct visual language separate from both the WotC era and today's Mega Evolution printings. Collectors building a generation-by-generation Feraligatr set treat HGSS07 as a required inclusion.
The Expedition Base Set Feraligatr (46/165) at $85.55 sits just above it. Expedition was the first English e-Card era release (2002), and its card design bridges the original WotC era and modern formats. Condition matters here: Near Mint e-Card holos are scarcer than their Neo Series counterparts because the e-Card era had lower initial collector demand at time of release.
The Premium Tier: $133 to $265
The Mega Feraligatr ex Special Illustration Rare is the card most collectors are tracking from Ascended Heroes.
At $133 raw NM, the SIR features extended full-art illustration of Mega Feraligatr ex. The PSA 10 graded copy is listed at $299, a 2.25x grading premium over the raw NM price.
That ratio is tighter than the vintage premiums seen further down this list. The market hasn't fully priced professional certification into the new SIR yet, which is typical in the first six months after a set releases.
For collectors sourcing from Japan, the Mega Feraligatr ex 763/742 (the Japanese equivalent) is available at $225.71 in light-used condition from linknext-japan.
The Japanese version has a different card number and set structure under the Japanese Mega Evolution numbering. Collectors building parallel English/Japanese sets target this as the JP counterpart to the English SIR.
The Vintage Ceiling: Neo Genesis 1st Edition
The Feraligatr #4/111 from Neo Genesis (2000) is the card that established Feraligatr's position in vintage collecting.
Released as one of the original holographic Johto starter cards in English, the 1st Edition version carries the printed stamp on the left side of the card, identifying it as the initial production run. Neo Genesis holos in 1st Edition are genuinely condition-sensitive: the set's era produced cards prone to holo scratching, and Near Mint ungraded copies are harder to find than the PSA population data suggests.
The PSA 8 copy at $400 is the realistic entry for a graded 1st Edition Neo Feraligatr. PSA 9 copies trade at a significant premium above that when they appear. The grading premium on this card is substantially steeper than on the modern SIR: a PSA 8 Neo Genesis 1st Edition Feraligatr costs more than three times the $133 raw NM SIR, even though the SIR is a more visually striking card by modern standards.
That divergence is the defining feature of the Feraligatr collector market right now. Vintage condition scarcity and the 1st Edition label are doing more work for the Neo Genesis card than artwork alone can explain.
Which Tier Makes Sense?
For most collectors in 2026, the answer is the Ascended Heroes tin first.
The tin gives you sealed product from the Mega Evolution series at a known street price, a playable promo, and the lenticular card as a display piece. If the SIR is the actual target, the smarter move is to wait for pack prices to stabilize in the weeks after the August 28 launch, then buy the single directly rather than cracking sealed product for it.
The HGSS07 promo and Expedition single are for collectors building a generation-spanning Feraligatr set, one card per era. The Neo Genesis 1st Edition PSA 8 is the long-term vintage anchor for the serious collector who wants the original and is comfortable with the $400 entry point.
The one tier worth watching closely is the raw NM SIR. The 2.25x grading premium on the PSA 10 is historically low for a card with this much collector interest. If that premium expands as the set matures, buying raw NM now before widespread grading activity begins is the play that the data currently supports.
