Zoroark in 2026: Four TCG Eras, Four Entry Points

Zoroark has cards in sets spanning fifteen years of TCG history, from the 2011 Black & White Base Set through the 2026 SV White Flare expansion, and the right buy in 2026 depends entirely on which era you want to own.

The Illusion Fox reads differently depending on the format.

In BW, it was a competitive pivot card. In Sun & Moon, it shared billing with Greninja on a TAG TEAM. In Sword & Shield, it arrived as an entirely different regional form with a different type.

In Scarlet & Violet, N's Zoroark ex shows up in four distinct rarity tiers from a single set, with prices spanning $2 to $55. This guide walks each era with what is actually in stock right now and what makes each one worth considering.

The BW Foundation: Zoroark 71/114 (2011)

Zoroark's debut set appearance is the Black & White Base Set holo rare, card 71/114, released in April 2011.

The card's standout mechanic was Foul Play: for a single Colorless Energy, Zoroark copies any of the Defending Pokémon's attacks. One Colorless to use your opponent's strongest move was genuinely powerful in the BW format, where heavy hitters like Reshiram and Zekrom were already doing 120+ damage. Zoroark found a home in decks that wanted a flexible finisher without committing a specific Energy type.

Raw copies currently trade at $2 to $8 depending on condition, with PSA 9 specimens sitting closer to $20. For collectors who want a first-print BW holo from a Pokémon with active search demand, this is the lowest-friction vintage entry in Zoroark's entire catalogue.

The TAG TEAM Era: Greninja & Zoroark GX (2019)

The Sun & Moon era paired Zoroark with Greninja on a TAG TEAM GX card: Greninja & Zoroark GX 107/214 from Unbroken Bonds, released May 2019.

Both are Dark-type foxes from different generations. Greninja is primarily a Water-type in the main series, but the TCG leans on its shadowy aesthetic for this pairing.

The card's GX attack, Shadowy Hunter-GX, places 7 damage counters on any of your opponent's Pokémon in any way you choose. That kind of targeted damage distribution made it useful in specific control builds.

The standard 107/214 holofoil trades at $55 to $60. The secret rare Full Art 201/214 carries a different illustration and sits at $250 and above. For Greninja collectors as much as Zoroark collectors, this is the obvious crossover target, and Unbroken Bonds is now a closed set with no new supply entering.

The Hisuian Chapter: Ghost Type, Premium Box

Hisuian Zoroark is the version that breaks every assumption.

Standard Zoroark is Dark type. Hisuian Zoroark, from Pokémon Legends: Arceus, is Ghost/Normal.

That type shift made it into the TCG as Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR, the only Zoroark card in TCG history printed as a Ghost-type. It appears as GG56/GG70 in the Crown Zenith Galarian Gallery and as 234/172 in the Japanese S12a VSTAR Universe.

The Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR Premium Collection box includes the VSTAR promo card, a foil VSTAR Universe promo, two Sword & Shield booster packs, and a coin. Sealed copies range from $101 to $145 in current listings.

The box is a SWSH-era product in a market where new SWSH stock no longer exists. Collectors who want the Ghost-type Zoroark in sealed format are working from whatever remains in the secondary market.

N's Zoroark ex: Four Versions from One Set

Journey Together (SV09, 2025) introduced N's Zoroark ex, and the rarity spread inside one set is the most striking thing about it.

The standard double-rare 098/159 version of N's Zoroark ex currently lists at $2. The Special Illustration Rare 185/159 sits at $47 to $55. The Gold hyper rare 189/159 falls in the middle at $18 to $20.

Three distinct versions, one Pokémon, one set, with a $53 price gap between cheapest and most expensive. That spread between the standard and the SIR is wider than any other single-character, single-set rarity ladder in the current SV lineup.

The 185/159 SIR at the top of this article is the collector's target for the Journey Together era. The illustrated art on the SIR places N alongside Zoroark in a full-bleed design that the standard double rare does not have. For the $53 difference, you are paying for the art direction, not a functional card advantage.

The Newest Zoroark Card: White Flare IR

The most recent Zoroark print is the Illustration Rare 143/086 from the Korean SV11W White Flare expansion, currently available through independent shops at $73 to $88 raw.

White Flare is a Korean-market expansion that released in 2025. It carries the same Illustration Rare rarity structure used across current SV sets, where the IR tier puts a full-art character illustration behind the card text.

Zoroark's IR version sits above the set's print total at 143/086, making it a numbered chase card from an expansion with no English equivalent under the White Flare name. English buyers who want this specific art have to go through the import market.

There is also an Art Rare 141/086 from the same expansion at $25 to $39, which is a more budget-accessible option for collectors who want the White Flare Zoroark without committing to the IR price point.

Which Era Is Right for You

The right Zoroark buy depends on what you are collecting toward.

Budget entry with competitive history: the BW Base Set 71/114 at $2 to $8 is the lowest-cost option with a documented tournament legacy. Collectors who want the SV-era standard card at face value pay $2 for the Journey Together double rare.

The mid-market collector with $50 to $60 has a choice between the Journey Together SIR and the Greninja & Zoroark GX TAG TEAM. Both are illustrated collector pieces. The TAG TEAM is from a closed SM-era set; the SIR is current.

The Hisuian VSTAR Premium Collection at $101 to $145 is the only sealed product currently in market for the Ghost-type variant. The White Flare IR at $73 is the newest card in stock for collectors tracking the SV Illustration Rare layer.

Zoroark has not had a gap period. Every major TCG era from BW through SV has at least one Zoroark card worth tracking, and the current SV market has both the most affordable (Journey Together $2) and some of the most illustrated (SIR $55, White Flare IR $73) options simultaneously in stock.
