Ultra PRO Pokemon Portfolios: Every Licensed Binder in 2026
By Dexhaul Team · October 4, 2026
Not all Ultra PRO Pokemon binders are the same product.
Ultra PRO is the official licensed binder manufacturer for the Pokemon TCG in North America. In 2026, they sell three structurally different portfolio types under the Pokemon license: the basic soft-cover 9-pocket, the strap-closure binder, and the hard-cover zippered PRO-Binder Elite series.
Retailer listings routinely mislabel all three as "portfolio" with no further distinction. The structural difference matters a lot for anyone storing cards long-term.
The basic portfolio has no closure mechanism: the pages are loose inside a soft cover. The strap binder adds a snap-over strap. The zippered Elite PRO-Binder has a hard cover, a full perimeter zipper, and side-loading (not top-loading) pages that prevent cards from falling when the binder is opened flat.
Every Ultra PRO Pokemon portfolio in the line

| Elite Series 9-Pocket Zippered PRO-Binder (Pikachu, Charizard, Gengar, Arceus) | 9 | 360 cards | Full zipper | Side-load, double-sided | $33.00–$49.00 USD (observed October 4, 2026) | Yes |
| Elite Series 12-Pocket Zippered PRO-Binder (Charizard, Gengar, Pikachu) | 12 | 480 cards | Full zipper | Side-load, double-sided | $40.00–$56.99 USD (observed October 4, 2026) | Yes |
All capacity figures are single-loaded (one card per pocket). The Elite PRO-Binders double to 720 or 960 with double-loading, though card grading services like CGC recommend single-loading to avoid surface-to-surface pressure damage on holos and full arts.
Where to start: three picks for different needs
Under $20: Basic 9-Pocket for rotating pulls
The basic Pikachu (2025) 9-pocket is the right starting point for anyone filing booster pack pulls from a set like ME06 Delta Reign. It holds 180 cards, opens flat without a stand, and costs under CA$15 at most importers. The lack of a closure means keeping it spine-up in a box or sleeve, not tossing it in a bag.
Collector interest: Mega Charizard X & Y dual-art basic
This is the only official Ultra PRO binder that shows both Mega Charizard X and Y on the same cover. It is an XY-era design from 2014 and is no longer part of Ultra PRO's active production lineup.
Current listings observe at $22.00 USD versus a standard basic portfolio at CA$12.95. The 70% premium over an equivalent basic is entirely driven by the dual-form artwork, not any structural upgrade: it is still the same soft-cover, top-loading, no-closure format. Collectors building a Mega Charizard-focused binder are the primary audience.
$33 and up: Elite Zippered PRO-Binder for valued pulls
The Elite Series PRO-Binder is the structural upgrade that matters for storing Special Illustration Rares (SIRs) or hyper rares from Mega Evolution sets. The perimeter zipper keeps dust and humidity out.
Side-loading pages mean cards do not fall when the binder is opened horizontally. The hard cover prevents flex pressure on the pages.
The 9-pocket Elite (360 cards single-loaded) covers four full ME06 ETBs worth of pulls with room left. The 12-pocket Elite (480 cards) handles five ETBs and leaves a buffer for promos and restores. See our full binder buyer's guide for a broader comparison across brands.
Telling versions apart
Strap vs. zipper: which matters for your use
The strap binder is safer than the basic in a bag, but the strap sits across the top edge only. A dropped binder can still spill.
The zippered Elite PRO-Binder is fully sealed: the only way cards exit is through the zipper you opened.
If portability matters, pay for the zipper.
9-pocket vs. 12-pocket
Nine-pocket pages hold standard card rows of three across. Twelve-pocket pages hold four across, which requires a slightly wider page and a proportionally larger binder.
Most 12-pocket Pro-Binders in current stock are labeled for 480 cards single-loaded. Check the listing dimensions before buying: a 12-pocket binder built for standard cards will not fit oversized promos flat.
Licensed vs. unlicensed: how to check
Official Ultra PRO Pokemon portfolios carry the Pokemon Company International licensing mark on the back cover. The model name and item number (for example, UP15772 for the Elite Pikachu 9-pocket) appear on the spine or back panel.
Listings without a model number or showing inconsistent cover art are often generic binders resold with Pokemon-themed inserts. For sleeve compatibility guidance, see our Pokemon card sleeves guide.
Care and display
Store all binder types spine-down or flat, never with the card-loaded pages hanging open. Gravity and page flex over time causes micro-scratching on cards in top-loading designs. Elite PRO-Binders with side-loading pages are significantly more tolerant of horizontal storage.
Humidity above 60% warps pages and accelerates PVCP outgassing from the sleeve material. A sealed zippered binder slows the humidity cycle but does not eliminate it. For high-value pulls, a sealed toploader or One-Touch case is a stronger long-term option: see our toploaders and One-Touch guide for the comparison.
A note for Q4 gifting
Ultra PRO portfolios are one of the strongest gift options under $25 for a Pokemon TCG player, particularly paired with a booster pack. A basic 9-pocket and a booster pack together land under $30 and give the recipient somewhere to put their pulls immediately.
The Elite Series zippered binders in the $33 to $57 range are a meaningful upgrade for a collector who already has basics. The character artwork (Gengar, Pikachu, Arceus, Charizard) gives them collector appeal beyond pure function. For a broader range of Pokemon gift options across all budgets, the 2026 holiday gift guide covers every category.
