Clefairy Collector's Guide 2026: WOTC Prints, the Doll Trainer Card, and Lillie's ex

Clefairy was originally planned as the Pokémon franchise mascot before Pikachu took the role in the animated series.

That bit of franchise history makes Clefairy's TCG presence easy to underestimate. Four different print variants of the original Base Set holo, a Trainer card that puts Clefairy's face on a non-Pokémon card, and two distinct Special Illustration Rares from 2025 and 2026 make this one of Kanto's more layered collecting targets. With the 30th Celebration set launching September 16 and driving renewed interest in the original 151, Clefairy is worth understanding in full.

Here is what each version costs right now.

The Base Set Holo: Four Prints, Four Prices

The Base Set Clefairy Holo (5/102) looks like a single card, but four legally distinct prints exist with meaningfully different values.

The 1st Edition print carries the "Edition 1" globe stamp on the lower-left corner. A PSA 6 Clefairy Holo 1st Edition lists at $526 from NOLA TCG. The Shadowless edition followed: same art, same number, but with the drop shadow removed from the card image frame and no stamp.

Shadowless copies appear at $39 raw. The standard Unlimited print restored the shadow and is the most commonly available version at $45 raw. Base Set 2, a 2000 reprint with the card renumbered as 6/130, is the most accessible entry at $13 from TCGaming.

All four versions are the same Moonblast-wielding Fairy-type Pokémon illustrated by Mitsuhiro Arita. The price difference is entirely about production era and print run, not card content.

A PSA 8 Unlimited copy, like the one pictured above, sits around $86.91 and represents a good middle tier: graded protection without the 1st Edition premium.

The Clefairy Doll: A Trainer Card Wearing a Pokémon's Face

Few Kanto Pokémon appear in Base Set twice. Clefairy does.

Card 70/102 is the Clefairy Doll, a Trainer card that places a Clefairy-shaped token on the Bench as the Active Pokémon. The Doll could not attack, retreat, or use abilities.

Any damage knocked it out immediately. It was a situational stall card in the original WOTC competitive environment, never a staple.

The Clefairy Doll's collectible value comes from that dual presence: a single 102-card set contains Clefairy's artwork on both a Holo Pokémon card and a Trainer card, a distinction almost no other original-set Pokémon shares. Raw copies list for around $10. The card is inexpensive, specific, and something casual collectors often overlook entirely.

The Generations Gap: Why One Rare Print Is Expensive

XY: Generations (2016) reprinted a Clefairy Holofoil as card 50/83, and it created one of the sharpest raw-to-graded price splits in the character's history.

Raw copies sit at $3 to $57 depending on condition. A PSA 10 Gem Mint copy has been independently listed at $5,000. The reason is distribution: Generations packs were never sold as standalone booster boxes.

They shipped exclusively inside the 20th Anniversary Collector's Albums and a small number of premium gift sets in 2016, which capped the total number of packs ever opened. The low population of PSA 10-eligible copies drives the grade premium far above what the raw price suggests.

The same Generations set also reissued a Clefairy from XY Evolutions as 63/108. If you want the Clefairy Holofoil without the scarcity premium, the 151 (SV3.5, 2023) reverse holo at 35/165 lists at $3 raw and is widely available.

Grading a Generations Clefairy is a high-variance bet. Condition discipline matters more than usual.

Lillie's Clefairy ex: Two Sets, Two Illustrations, One Character

The 2025 and 2026 TCG sets introduced a new angle on Clefairy: a Trainer-linked card featuring Lillie and Clefairy together.

Lillie's Clefairy ex first appeared in Journey Together (2025) as card 184/159, a Special Illustration Rare currently listing at $105 near-mint raw. The artwork shows Lillie in a sunlit outdoor scene.

The same card concept returned in Ascended Heroes (2026) as 280/217, a different SIR with a distinct full-art illustration. That version lists at $156.91 to $217.27 depending on condition and seller.

Both versions are legal in current Standard format. Both are numbered above their set total, which is the standard SIR numbering convention in the Scarlet and Violet era. Collectors who want the full Lillie's Clefairy ex set need both cards: the artwork, set symbol, and card number are all different.

The Journey Together version is the easier entry for most collectors right now. The Ascended Heroes SIR carries the newer print date and the higher price floor of the two.

Plush and Merchandise: $20 to $90

Clefairy's merchandise range is narrower than Pikachu's or Eevee's, which keeps prices accessible.

The Pokémon Fit line offers a compact seated Clefairy pose at $20 from Ichiba Japan. The Sanei All Star Collection PP21 Clefairy is a 6-inch soft plush at $24.99 through L.T.'s Hobbies. Both are officially licensed and currently in stock.

The highest-ticket Clefairy merchandise item is the Loungefly Pokemon Clefairy Cosplay Mini Backpack at $90, a 707 Street store-exclusive. It is a small faux-leather bag styled after Clefairy's silhouette in pink, one of the few Clefairy-specific accessory items from the Loungefly x Pokemon collaboration range.

A 9-inch Clefairy plush from St. Mark's Comics lists at $24.99 as well, for collectors who want a larger display size.

Where Clefairy Sits in a Kanto Collection

Most Kanto collector guides focus on Charizard, Pikachu, or Mewtwo. Clefairy rewards a different kind of attention.

The Base Set four-print ladder covers a genuine range: $13 raw (Base Set 2) to $526 graded (1st Edition PSA 6), with the PSA 8 Unlimited at $86.91 representing the practical midpoint for most collectors. The Clefairy Doll at $10 is a unique structural footnote: a Trainer card that shares a Pokémon's face in the same set.

The Generations Holo is a grading exercise with extreme grade sensitivity. Lillie's Clefairy ex in two SIR versions is the modern character arc, and the plush range stays under $30 for standard options.

With the 30th Celebration set arriving September 16 and renewed collector interest in the original Kanto roster, Clefairy's Base Set entries are worth checking now. The card that almost became the franchise mascot tends to get overlooked in the Charizard-first market, and that underexposure has kept prices more accessible than the historical significance of the 5/102 Holo would otherwise allow.
