Incineroar ex and Torterra ex Special Collection Box: What's Inside and Whether $74 Is Worth It
By Dexhaul Team · September 6, 2026
Two starters. Two generations. One box.
The Pokémon TCG Incineroar ex and Torterra ex Special Collection Box pairs Incineroar, the Alola Dark and Fire starter from Generation 7, with Torterra, the Sinnoh Grass and Ground starter from Generation 4. Both Pokémon have ex cards in Scarlet and Violet: Temporal Forces (SV05), and the stamped promo versions inside this box are exclusive to collection products. At $74 from Cardboard Hero, it is the lowest listed price for this box among independent merchants right now.
If you collect either Pokémon, the promo cards alone justify the price. If you collect neither and are buying purely for booster packs, an Elite Trainer Box gives better pack-to-price efficiency right now.
What This Box Actually Contains
The Special Collection Box includes promo Incineroar ex and Torterra ex cards in standard trading-card size, plus two oversized display versions of the same artwork for each featured Pokémon. Eight Scarlet and Violet series booster packs round out the contents.
The stamped promo ex cards are the distinguishing factor. They do not appear in booster packs. You cannot pull a stamped promo Incineroar ex from any booster product; the only way to get one is through a dedicated Incineroar collection, like this box.
That exclusivity is why collection boxes at this format and price range hold appeal even when the booster pack math looks thin.
Eight booster packs at $74 works out to roughly $9.25 per pack, which is toward the upper end of single-pack pricing. What changes the calculation is the promo content added at no pack-equivalent cost. The oversized display cards also give collectors a display option that does not require sleeves or top-loaders, since oversized cards are not sleeved for competitive play.
Why These Two Pokémon Share a Box
The pairing comes from Temporal Forces.
Both Incineroar and Torterra are featured Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet: Temporal Forces (SV05). Incineroar has a double-rare ex at 034/162 and a Full Art at 187/162. Torterra has a double-rare ex at 012/162 and an Ultra Rare at 185/162.
The Special Collection Box promo cards are stamped variants of these prints, and the shared set is what places them together in one product.
Temporal Forces carries a "travel across time" theme, drawing Pokémon from multiple eras of the franchise. Incineroar represents the modern competitive era. Torterra anchors the Diamond and Pearl nostalgia wave that has accelerated since the Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl remakes.
Pokémon TCG chose these two because both have large enough collector audiences to support a co-headlining product, even though they share no type overlap and come from entirely different regions.
That is actually what makes this box unusual. Most dual-ex Special Collection Boxes pair Pokémon from the same generation or the same type family.
Incineroar and Torterra do not. Collectors of one character get the other included, which means the box lands differently depending on which Pokémon is your primary target.
Incineroar: The Alola Heavyweight
Incineroar is the final evolution of Litten, the Fire-type starter from Pokémon Sun and Moon (Generation 7, 2016). Litten evolves into Torracat at level 17 and then into Incineroar at level 34, gaining the Dark type alongside Fire. The wrestler-themed design was an immediate hit, helping Incineroar become one of the most recognizable Generation 7 Pokémon.
In competitive Pokémon, Incineroar became a Video Game Championship (VGC) staple starting around 2019. Its Intimidate ability lowers the opposing Pokémon's Attack stat on entry, and Parting Shot lets it lower both Attack and Special Attack before switching out. No other Pokémon in the standard format combines both tools, which is why Incineroar has appeared in top-placing VGC teams across multiple World Championship seasons.
The collector demand for Incineroar products follows its competitive profile. Dedicated Incineroar collection boxes and tins are not released every set cycle. When one appears, it tends to move quickly among character collectors who have been waiting for a stamped promo in the current SV era format.
Torterra: The Sinnoh Defender
Torterra is the final evolution of Turtwig, the Grass-type starter from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl (Generation 4, 2006). Grass and Ground is a rare type combination: very few fully-evolved Pokémon share it in the main series games. Torterra's bulk, 95 HP and 105 Defense in the base games, made it the go-to defensive anchor for Grass-type team slots during the Diamond and Pearl competitive era.
Torterra's collector appeal has grown steadily since the 2021 remakes. Diamond and Pearl nostalgia runs deep for a specific age group of collectors, and Torterra specifically benefits from having fewer dedicated SKUs than most Sinnoh-era Pokémon.
Pikachu, Charizard, and the Kanto starters dominate shelf space. Torterra products get made less often, which means the search for Torterra-specific items has longer gaps between release windows.
This collection box is one of the few English-language products currently in stock that centers Torterra as a featured character. The promo ex inside is the most direct way to add a stamped Torterra card to a collection in the Scarlet and Violet format.
Price Spread Across Merchants
The $74 Cardboard Hero listing is the lowest currently visible for this box across independent merchants in the UCP catalogue.
The Ballers Bank carries a sealed listing at $93.69, and that listing specifically calls out ships-sealed-only terms, which matters for collectors planning to grade. Side Kicks prices the same box at $145 USD, which reflects currency conversion and UK import costs rather than a pure market markup. The WQ-X listing at $240 sits well above the rest and targets buyers in markets where lower-cost shipping options are not available.
If $74 is the current floor, the box is priced fairly for what it contains. The reference point is a Destined Rivals (SV10) Elite Trainer Box, which currently runs $115 to $131 across merchants and contains 9 booster packs plus accessories but no promo cards. The Special Collection Box costs less than most ETBs while delivering character-specific promo content that an ETB never includes.
Who Should Buy This Box
Incineroar collectors are the primary audience. The stamped promo ex is the main draw, and dedicated Incineroar products at this price point are uncommon. The Temporal Forces Full Art at $3.99 is readily available as a separate purchase; the promo is not.
Torterra collectors have an equally strong case. Torterra-specific collection products appear infrequently, and this box is one of the few current SKUs built around the character. If your collection tracks the Sinnoh starter line, a Torterra ex promo in SV-era format is worth adding.
Buyers looking only for booster packs should look elsewhere. Eight SV booster packs at $74 is not a standout deal on packs alone, and a Destined Rivals ETB or a Mega Forces Booster Bundle delivers more packs per dollar right now. The box earns its price through promo content, not through pack volume.
Both characters occupy collector niches that rarely get co-headlining products at an accessible price. That combination is what makes the box worth considering this September.
