Sableye Collector's Guide 2026: Plush Tiers, the Junk Hunt Legacy, and the $386 Alt Art

Sableye is one of the few Pokémon to have spent three consecutive generations with no type weaknesses at all.

When it debuted in Ruby and Sapphire, its Ghost/Dark dual typing created a combination that resisted every offensive type in the game. Normal and Fighting moves were entirely ineffective.

Ghost and Dark attacks that might threaten either type alone were neutralized by the other. That status held through Generations III, IV, and V, until Generation VI introduced the Fairy type and closed the loophole by giving Dark-types a new weakness.

For collectors, that history translates into a character with a small but devoted base. The merchandise range is focused and tiered: plush at three price points, figures in two forms, a clear TCG ladder from $2 commons to a $386 alternate art, and a 2003 vintage holo that sits above the modern full-art at the top. Here's how each tier works.

The Plush Line

The Pokémon Fit Sableye is the clearest entry point. It's the Pokémon Center official Fit-line plush: compact proportions, correct color treatment, shelf-display ready at $28-29 from import sellers.

One level up is the standard-size Pokémon Center Poke Plush in the 7.5-inch range, available on the secondary market at $38-50 depending on the seller. It gives you a larger footprint without committing to the Mega form.

The 2026 Mega Sableye Poke Plush from Pokémon Center is the premium tier at $90. It represents the Mega form: the oversized red gem shield, the crystalline body detailing, and the broader silhouette that distinguishes Mega Sableye from its base form. No other licensed plush in the current line takes that form.

The Mofugutto Sableye ($35 from import specialists like Joe's Japan Plushies) sits between the standard Fit and the Mega. The Mofugutto line is a Japan-only product series with a deliberately exaggerated, rounded aesthetic. It's a distinct product from a separate manufacturing line, not a resizing of the Fit plush, which explains why it holds its own price bracket on the import secondary market.

Figures: Standard and Mega, $8-13

Takara Tomy's Moncolle line covers both Sableye forms. The standard Sableye MS-34 runs $13 from import sellers like oshoppu. The Moncolle Mega Sableye comes in lower at $8 from Ichiba Japan, which reflects the import supply dynamic: Mega Sableye figures circulate primarily through Japanese import channels rather than Western domestic retail, giving them a counterintuitive price floor below the smaller base form.

Both are the standard Moncolle 2-inch scale, painted and detailed. They're the easiest way to have both Sableye forms on a shelf for under $25 combined.

The Modern TCG Tier

Sableye's TCG ladder starts at $2 and has two distinct steps before it reaches the 2019 TAG TEAM ceiling.

In the SV era, Sableye appears as uncommons in Temporal Forces (107/162, $2) and Vivid Voltage (105/185, $2). Both are standard set fillers with no alternate art treatment. They're for set completion, not character collecting.

Sableye V 194/202 (Full Art, Holofoil) · Sword & Shield Base Set

$14.50

Sableye V from the Sword & Shield Base Set (SWSH01) is the first V-tier card for the character. The standard Ultra Rare (120/202) lists at $2-3 raw.

The Full Art (194/202) sits at $14-15 raw from most sellers, occasionally reaching $36 in higher-grade copies. That 6-10x spread between the two treatments within the same set is consistent with the SWSH-era pattern: art tier, not gameplay text, sets the price.

One additional data point worth knowing: the XY Black Star Promo XY92 Sableye is a holo promo card that lists at approximately CA$38 from Canadian sellers, which translates to around $28 USD at current rates. It was never a booster pull. Collectors who want a Sableye holo without the $98-200 vintage Sandstorm entry can use XY92 as a mid-tier alternative, noting it's a promotional product with a different distribution history than set singles.

The Junk Hunt Legacy

Sableye 62/108 from Dark Explorers (2012) had an Ability called Junk Hunt: once per turn, put two Item cards from your discard pile into your hand. In the BW-era Standard format from 2012 through early 2014, that Ability powered Item-lock control decks. Paired with Hypnotoxic Laser and Pokémon Catcher loops, Junk Hunt Sableye was a legitimate meta piece at major tournaments.

That card now lists at $1-2 raw.

This is what happens to competitive staples when they rotate without a full-art or premium treatment attached. Dark Explorers Sableye has no alternate art, no Full Art version, and no special border. Its collector floor is a common uncommon's floor.

Buying it is a format-history purchase, not a price-growth position.

That's worth understanding for any collector evaluating whether a competitive card's history adds premium collector value. For Junk Hunt Sableye, it does not.

The TAG TEAM Question: Full Art vs Alternate Art

Mega Sableye & Tyranitar GX appeared in Unified Minds (SM11, 2019) and is the most substantial Sableye TCG product in the modern era. The set contains three distinct treatments for this pairing.

The standard Double Rare (73/236) is the base version. Above it sits the Full Art (225/236) at $57 from sellers like Izzi's, which uses a stylized background with both Pokémon in graphic-art treatment. Above that is the Alternate Art (226/236): a fully illustrated scene showing Sableye gripping its signature red gem while Tyranitar towers behind it, currently listed at $386.

$386.27

The Full Art and the Alternate Art have identical gameplay text. The 6.8x price gap between them exists entirely in the illustration.

For collectors focused on Sableye specifically: the 226/236 Alternate Art is the highest-production English-language TCG card the character has ever received. It's also the single most expensive Sableye card in any current English listing.

The Vintage Ceiling: EX Sandstorm 10/100

The oldest Sableye card in the TCG with meaningful collector value is Sableye 10/100 from EX Sandstorm, released in 2003 as part of the EX Ruby & Sapphire era sets.

Sableye 10/100 EX Sandstorm Holo Rare
Sableye 10/100 EX Sandstorm Holo Rare · $119.03

Raw copies of the Sandstorm holo list in the $50-200 range depending on condition, centering, and surface. EX Sandstorm was an early Ruby/Sapphire-era set from the period when Sableye had just entered the games. The holo treatment is standard WOTC-era foil: not a Full Art, not an alternate illustration, just the character in holo format from a 2003 set with lower print volume than any modern release.

The structural note here is that a 2003 WOTC holo in good condition trades above the 2019 Unified Minds Full Art at $57. Condition scarcity for a 23-year-old card can outweigh the premium of a modern full-art treatment when near-mint copies are genuinely difficult to source. That's worth understanding before assuming the newer, more elaborate card is always the more expensive one.

The Sableye catalogue runs from $2 uncommons to a $386 alternate art with a genuine vintage holo sitting above the modern full-art midpoint.
