Slowbro Collector's Guide 2026: The $3 to $135 Price Ladder Explained

One character, one price range: $3 to $135.

Slowbro's collector market is wider than almost any Kanto Pokémon that never made it onto Base Set's holo rare list. The gap runs from dollar-bin commons to e-Card era scarcity premiums that rival legendary Pokémon, and the logic behind every tier is different. This guide maps each step so you can spend confidently wherever you land on the ladder.

The Modern Baseline: Where to Start in 2026

The cheapest entry point is the Scarlet & Violet Base Set Slowbro 043/198, available near mint for around $3 at several UCP merchants right now. It's a holo card with clean modern art, and it's a perfectly valid place to anchor a Slowbro collection.

One step up is the Galarian Slowbro from the Sword & Shield era, currently around $4. Galarian Slowbro is a Poison/Psychic type, a different typing from regular Slowbro's Water/Psychic, making it the only version of the Pokémon with a Poison classification in the TCG. At $4, it's still accessible and adds a typing variant most Slowbro collections don't have.

Then there is the 2026 new release: the Slowbro 090/084 Illustration Rare from ME05 Pitch Black. The above-set numbering (090 of a 084-card set) marks it as an Illustration Rare in the Mega Evolution Series.

Alt-art treatment, full-bleed illustration, currently priced at $10 to $19 depending on the seller. It's the only Slowbro card released in 2026 and the cheapest available holo with modern alt-art aesthetics.

The Mega Era: XY Evolutions and a Two-Card Story

XY Evolutions (November 2016) gave Slowbro two cards in the same set: Slowbro EX 26/108 and Mega Slowbro EX 27/108. Both are Ultra Rare treatments, sequential card numbers, same set.

The regular Slowbro EX trades around $6 to $7 Canadian. Mega Slowbro EX runs $30.50 in US dollars at the same retailer, a roughly 4x gap for what is essentially the evolved version of the same card.

The premium is not from gameplay history. Mega Slowbro EX was never a dominant format card during its legal window. The price gap is driven entirely by the full-art Mega treatment and the scarcity of near-mint copies of the Mega version relative to the base EX.

XY Evolutions is the set that reprinted many original Base Set designs with updated holo patterns, which drove sustained collector demand for the entire set well past rotation. That baseline demand lifts even Mega Slowbro EX above its competitive value.

Dark Slowbro: When the Reprint Costs More Than the Original

Dark Slowbro 12/82 from the Team Rocket set (April 2000) is available in Unlimited at around $21 and in 1st Edition at around $60. The 1st Edition premium is the standard WOTC stamp markup.

Here is the unusual part. Dark Slowbro was reprinted in the Legendary Collection as card 8/110, listed as a Holo Rare, and it currently trades around $45. That is more than the non-1st Edition Team Rocket original at $21, despite being the reprint.

The Legendary Collection (May 2002) was a limited-run reprint set designed to give players access to Team Rocket and Gym Heroes cards in a foil-border format. Its total print run was significantly smaller than the original Team Rocket set, and it was discontinued quickly after release. The supply shortage on the reprint is exactly why the Legendary Collection Dark Slowbro outprices the standard Unlimited original: less supply, not more demand.

The e-Card Ceiling: Unseen Forces and Aquapolis

The two most expensive Slowbro singles in the current market come from the e-Card era: Slowbro 13/115 from EX Unseen Forces (August 2005) at $83, and Slowbro 033/147 from Aquapolis (January 2003) at $135.

The Unseen Forces card is a confirmed Holo Rare. Its $83 price is high relative to most non-legendary, non-starter holos from the EX era, but Unseen Forces is one of the few EX sets that included Gold Star Pokémon (the rarest pull in the entire EX Series), which created sustained collector interest in the set and lifted prices for all its holo rares above comparable EX releases.

Aquapolis is the more significant case.

The set launched in January 2003 during the post-Wizards transition period. US retailers dramatically underordered Aquapolis and Skyridge, the two e-Card era sets, because the market had contracted sharply after the craze years of 1999 to 2001.

The print run never recovered. This structural underdistribution created a scarcity floor that applies to the entire set, including cards that would be commons in any other era.

A $135 Slowbro from Aquapolis is not a function of competitive history or character popularity. It is a supply artifact from a moment when the North American Pokémon TCG market nearly collapsed.

Plush and Figures: Three Tiers Worth Knowing

The Pokémon fit Slowbro is the entry plush. It's an official Pokémon Center Japan line using high-pile fabric with articulated limbs to match the character's side-on Pokédex pose.

Ichiba Japan lists it at $20. A second listing from akibashipping for the same design runs $48, reflecting the seller margin differential on discontinued Center stock rather than any product difference.

Sitting Cuties Slowbro (#80 in the generation 1 to 6 lineup) is the mid-tier option at $52.49. Sitting Cuties is a different Pokémon Center line from Pokémon fit: slightly larger, softer fill, uniform seated pose across all 151 original Pokémon. It's the more recognizable format for display collectors.

The ceiling is the Mega Slowbro OA (Original Art) Limited plush from Pokémon Center Japan, which depicted Slowbro in its Mega Evolution form. Secondary market listings currently run around $100. OA Limited releases are produced once and not restocked, which is why the secondary premium exists at all.

Which Tier Makes Sense for You

The $3 to $19 range covers modern cards and the 2026 Pitch Black Illustration Rare. All of them are easy to find, easy to grade if you want to go that route, and have zero hunt friction.

The $21 to $45 range covers Dark Slowbro in multiple printings and Mega Slowbro EX. These are vintage-adjacent cards that require knowing which version you want before you buy, because the price spread between printings is significant.

Above $80 is e-Card era territory. Both Unseen Forces and Aquapolis Slowbro are legitimately hard to find in near-mint condition, and the scarcity behind their prices is structural rather than speculative.

None of these tiers overlap with each other in terms of what they represent. The $3 card and the $135 card are in different collecting conversations entirely.
