About Slowbro
Slowbro is the Water and Psychic-type evolution of Slowpoke, and one of the original 151 Pokémon from Generation I. It is known as the Hermit Crab Pokémon, a fitting title for a creature that walks around with a Shellder clamped onto its tail. In the games, Slowpoke becomes Slowbro at level 37.
For all its sleepy looks, Slowbro is one of the sturdiest Pokémon of its generation. A base Defense of 110 and a deep HP pool let it soak up hits, and its hidden ability, Regenerator, restores some of its health every time it switches out. That combination has kept Slowbro a familiar sight in competitive play for decades, as a defensive pivot that wears opponents down slowly.
Slowbro has also branched out over the years. Mega Slowbro arrived in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire with a giant, armored shell, and Galarian Slowbro in Sword and Shield turned the Shellder into a cannon on its arm. Collectors can find all three on cards, plush and figures: browse Slowbro plush or see its cousin Slowking, which comes from the same Slowpoke line.

Biology
Slowbro is a large, pink, bipedal Pokémon with a cream-colored muzzle and a vacant, contented expression. The striking detail is its tail: a spiral-shelled Shellder is permanently attached to it, biting down.
In Pokémon lore, the Shellder's bite is what triggers the evolution, and the poison it releases is said to make Slowbro even more absent-minded than Slowpoke. If the Shellder ever lets go, Slowbro is said to revert to a Slowpoke. The pair live by the water, and Slowbro is often shown fishing or simply gazing at the sea.
Origin and Name
Slowbro appears to draw on a hermit crab, with the shell-wearing Shellder playing the part of the crab's borrowed home, combined with the dopey, lovable Slowpoke. Its English name blends slow with bro, while its Japanese name, Yadoran, comes from the Japanese word for a hermit crab.
In Battle
Slowbro's strengths are Defense, HP and Special Attack; its weakness is speed, at a base 30. Players usually lean into that, using Regenerator and recovery moves such as Slack Off to stay healthy while switching in and out.
As a Water and Psychic type it takes extra damage from Grass, Electric, Bug, Ghost and Dark attacks, so it pairs well with teammates that cover those threats. Mega Slowbro pushes the formula further with a base Defense of 180.
Cards and Merch
Slowbro has had cards in the Pokémon Trading Card Game since its early years, and newer sets keep reprinting it with fresh artwork, including Galarian Slowbro cards. Away from cards, its round shape makes it a natural fit for plush, and it shows up regularly in figure lines and Pokémon Center ranges.
