Scarlet & Violet Booster Bundle (2023): How Many Packs?
By Dexhaul Team · October 5, 2026
The Scarlet & Violet Booster Bundle contains 6 packs of the Pokémon TCG Scarlet & Violet Base Set (SV01). It released alongside the set on March 31, 2023, and is the only factory-sealed multi-pack retail format for SV01 below the 36-pack Booster Display Box.
There are no accessories, promos, or extras inside. The bundle's entire value is in those six booster packs.
What's inside the Scarlet & Violet Booster Bundle
| Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Scarlet & Violet Base Set booster pack | 6 | SV01; 10 cards per pack |
| Promo cards | 0 | Not included in this product |
| Code card or sleeves | 0 | Not included in this product |
Every pack draws from the Scarlet & Violet Base Set, which introduced the Illustration Rare (IR) rarity tier to the English Pokémon TCG. Prior to SV01, no Sword & Shield set carried IRs. That novelty drove early collector demand and has kept secondary prices elevated compared to most newer-set bundles at the same 6-pack count.
Packs contain Commons, Uncommons, Rares, and the full SV rarity ladder: Double Rare, Ultra Rare, Illustration Rare, Special Illustration Rare, and Hyper Rare. Hitting a Special Illustration Rare (two gold stars) or Hyper Rare (three gold stars) requires luck on any individual pack.
MSRP and price per pack
TPCi does not publish a suggested retail price for the Booster Bundle format. The observed floor for the Scarlet & Violet Base Set Booster Bundle on independent storefronts was $94.99 (observed October 5, 2026), which works out to $15.83 per pack.
| Format | Pack count | Observed floor | Per pack | Observed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Booster Bundle | 6 | $94.99 | $15.83 | Oct 5, 2026 |
| Booster Display Box (36 packs) | 36 | $294.99 | $8.19 | Oct 5, 2026 |
| Single sleeved booster pack | 1 | $11.99 | $11.99 | Oct 5, 2026 |
The Booster Display Box delivers a roughly 48% lower per-pack cost compared to the bundle. If your goal is volume cracking rather than a taster, the 36-pack box is the more efficient route. The bundle's advantage is a lower total outlay per purchase.
The newest series Booster Bundle at time of writing, Journey Together (SV09, 2025), lists at $44.95 on the same storefronts. That is $7.49 per pack: less than half the SV01 per-pack rate.
The difference is collector demand on the base set, not a packaging difference. Both products are exactly 6 packs.
How the Scarlet & Violet Booster Bundle compares
The Booster Bundle format is consistent across every Scarlet & Violet release: 6 packs, no extras, sealed in shrink wrap. What changes is the set inside and the secondary-market price.
| Set | Set code | Release | Observed floor | Per pack |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Scarlet & Violet Base Set | SV01 | Mar 31, 2023 | $94.99 | $15.83 |
| Surging Sparks | SV08 | Nov 8, 2024 | $77.00 | $12.83 |
| Journey Together | SV09 | Mar 28, 2025 | $44.95 | $7.49 |
All prices observed October 5, 2026, from independent storefronts. SV01 carries the highest per-pack cost of any standard Scarlet & Violet bundle because it was the first to feature Illustration Rares. That early-series scarcity premium has held up longer than most other base-set products in the SV line.

Release timeline

The Scarlet & Violet Base Set was a clean start for the SV era. Sword & Shield era products (SWSH) use a different rarity and numbering system, so SV01 cards do not carry over play legality or collector equivalents from earlier sets without checking the specific format rules.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
The Scarlet & Violet Booster Bundle makes sense in a narrow set of situations.
Buy it if you want SV01 specifically
If you are chasing a particular SV01 card or completing the base set, six packs gives you a targeted sample without the $295+ outlay of a full Booster Display Box. The IR slot in SV01 is what makes the set worth pursuing for collectors who did not pick it up at launch.
Skip it if budget per pack matters
At $15.83 per pack, the SV01 bundle is expensive relative to anything else currently on the shelf. The Paldea Evolved ETB (SV02) delivers 9 packs with a full-art Pikachu promo and accessories for less per pack than the SV01 bundle. See the Paldea Evolved ETB guide for that breakdown.
Skip it for a gift or casual crack
For casual pack opening, a newer-series bundle like Journey Together costs roughly $7.49/pack at floor. Current-series sets feature the same SV rarity structure: IRs, SIRs, and Hyper Rares are all present in Journey Together packs at a fraction of the per-pack cost.
Note: the Pokémon 151 Booster Bundle (SV3.5) is a special-set bundle with the same 6-pack count but a higher floor price than even SV01. Pokémon 151 has no Booster Display Box, making the bundle the only factory-sealed multi-pack format for that set. It is a different use case than a standard expansion bundle.
Frequently asked questions
How many packs are in the Scarlet & Violet Booster Bundle?
Six packs of the Scarlet & Violet Base Set (SV01).
What is the Scarlet & Violet Booster Bundle release date?
March 31, 2023, alongside the Scarlet & Violet Base Set.
Does the Scarlet & Violet Booster Bundle include a promo card?
No. The bundle contains only the 6 booster packs, with no promo card, sleeves, or accessories. The Scarlet & Violet Elite Trainer Box is the format that includes a promo and accessories.
Is the SV01 Booster Box better value than the Booster Bundle?
For pure per-pack cost, yes. The 36-pack Booster Display Box listed at a floor of $294.99 on October 5, 2026, which is $8.19/pack versus $15.83/pack for the bundle. The bundle's appeal is its lower total purchase price for someone who wants a few packs rather than a full box.
Why is the Scarlet & Violet Booster Bundle more expensive than newer-set bundles?
SV01 was the first Scarlet & Violet set and the first English set to include Illustration Rares. That first-in-class status drives collector demand. Newer-set bundles carry the same rarity structure but lack the scarcity premium on a 2023 set.
