Scarlet & Violet ETB (2023): Contents, MSRP and Release Date
By Dexhaul Team · October 4, 2026
The Scarlet & Violet base set ETB contains 9 booster packs from the SV01 set, one full-art foil promo card (Koraidon ex or Miraidon ex depending on which version you buy), 65 themed card sleeves, damage counters, condition markers, a collector's coin, 6 reference cards, and a storage tin. The US MSRP at launch was $49.99. The set released March 31, 2023, making it the first English-language Elite Trainer Box of the Scarlet & Violet era.
Both the Koraidon and Miraidon versions are still available from independent sellers at current market prices well above MSRP, observed at $100–$165 USD in October 2026. There was also a Pokémon Center exclusive edition with a different promo, covered below.
What's inside the SV01 Elite Trainer Box
Every Scarlet & Violet ETB shipped with the same accessory kit regardless of version. The only item that changes between Koraidon and Miraidon is the promo card and sleeve art.
| Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Scarlet & Violet (SV01) booster packs | 9 | 10 cards per pack; 268-card set |
| Full-art foil promo card | 1 | Koraidon ex (Koraidon version) or Miraidon ex (Miraidon version); exclusive ETB promo not found in booster packs |
| Card sleeves | 65 | Koraidon or Miraidon art matching the box; fits standard-size cards |
| Damage counter dice | 45 | Mixed denominations for tracking HP |
| Condition markers | 6 | Asleep, Burned, Confused, Paralyzed, Poisoned, Fainted |
| Collector's coin | 1 | Koraidon or Miraidon flip coin |
| Reference cards | 6 | Quick-reference gameplay cards |
| Storage box (tin) | 1 | Holds approximately 300 sleeved cards or 400 unsleeved |
The Koraidon ex promo and Miraidon ex promo are not printed in any SV01 booster pack. If your goal is one of those promos specifically, the ETB is the main way to get it sealed, short of hunting singles.
MSRP and price per pack
At launch, the SV01 ETB carried a US MSRP of $49.99, matching The Pokémon Company's standard pricing for Elite Trainer Boxes entering the Scarlet & Violet era. That works out to roughly $5.56 per pack at MSRP.
| Version | Launch MSRP | Observed price (Oct 2026) | Per-pack at MSRP | Per-pack at observed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Koraidon ETB | $49.99 | $100–$141 | $5.56 | $11.11–$15.67 |
| Miraidon ETB | $49.99 | $131–$165 | $5.56 | $14.56–$18.33 |
| Pokémon Center exclusive ETB | $49.99 | $300–$357 | $5.56 | $33.33–$39.67 |
SV01 is no longer in retail print at MSRP. The observed prices above are from independent sellers in October 2026 and will move with market demand. The Pokémon Center exclusive version carries its premium because the promo card in that version had alternate art not included in any other product.
How it compares to other SV-era ETBs
The SV01 ETB set the standard for the box format that carried through the rest of the Scarlet & Violet era. Nine packs with a full-art exclusive promo became the template. Here is how it stacks against two of the most-searched SV ETBs.
| Product | Release date | Packs | Promo | Launch MSRP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Scarlet & Violet ETB (SV01) | March 31, 2023 | 9 × SV01 | Koraidon ex or Miraidon ex full-art | $49.99 |
| Pokémon 151 ETB (SV3.5) | September 22, 2023 | 9 × 151 | Mew ex full-art | $49.99 |
| Pokémon GO ETB | July 1, 2022 | 10 × Pokémon GO | Radiant Eevee alt art | $49.99 |
The SV01 box is the only one among these that came in two simultaneous versions with different promos. That dual-release approach was new for ETBs at the time.

Release timeline
SV01 was a global simultaneous release, which was uncommon in earlier eras. The English set launched on the same day as Japan's first SV-era set, Scarlet ex / Violet ex, which had released January 20, 2023. The English set combined cards from both Japanese sets and added 70 Secret Rare cards beyond the Japanese base print.
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| January 20, 2023 | Japanese Scarlet ex / Violet ex releases (the source sets for SV01) |
| March 31, 2023 | English SV01 Scarlet & Violet launches worldwide, including both ETB versions |
| March 31, 2023 | Pokémon Center exclusive ETBs with alternate-art promos available same day (US only, sold out rapidly) |
| Post-launch | Set exits standard print run; secondary market prices rise above MSRP |
Who should buy the SV01 ETB, and who should skip it
Buy the Koraidon ETB if
You want the ETB-exclusive Koraidon ex promo and plan to play Scarlet & Violet-era decks. The 9-pack haul is also a reasonable entry point for opening sealed SV01 product, which no longer sells at MSRP but is still more predictable cost-per-pack than singles.
Buy the Miraidon ETB if
You prefer Miraidon, or if you want to display both Legendary Cycle covers as a matched set. The Miraidon ex promo consistently surfaces at slightly higher observed prices than Koraidon ex, so collectors who want both may want to lock in the Miraidon version first.
Skip the SV01 ETB if
You are primarily chasing SV01 Illustration Rares or Special Illustration Rares for your collection. At current per-pack prices of $11–$18, opening 9 packs is an expensive way to hunt pulls. Buying the specific singles you want is almost always cheaper.
The ETB makes more sense if you specifically want the sealed promo card, or you enjoy the complete set-in-a-box experience.
Frequently asked questions
How many packs are in a Scarlet & Violet ETB?
Nine booster packs, each containing 10 cards from the SV01 Scarlet & Violet base set (268 cards total, including 70 Secret Rares).
What is the Pokémon Center exclusive Scarlet & Violet ETB?
Pokémon Center sold a separate exclusive version on March 31, 2023 that included a different promo card with alternate art. It had the same 9-pack configuration but is a distinct product. Observed prices on the secondary market are significantly higher than the standard version.
Are the Koraidon ex and Miraidon ex ETB promos in any booster packs?
No. The full-art ETB promos are exclusive to this product and are not printed in SV01 booster packs. They are listed in the SV Promo series and do not appear in the main SV01 set list.
Is the SV01 ETB still available at MSRP?
No. The SV01 set is no longer printed at retail and MSRP pricing from major chains is generally unavailable. All current listings come from independent sellers at secondary market prices.
Which version should I buy, Koraidon or Miraidon?
If you want both promos, you need both boxes. Otherwise it comes down to which cover Legendary you prefer. The contents and pack count are identical across both versions.
