Charmander
Charmander is the Fire-type Lizard Pokemon and one of the three original Kanto starters, chosen by players who want a fast, special-attack-oriented team. Its most recognizable trait is the flame burning at the tip of its tail; lore across the games indicates the flame reflects Charmander's health and mood.
In the anime, Ash rescued an abandoned Charmander in episode 11 of the original series; it later evolved into Charmeleon and then Charizard, becoming one of his most famous companions. Charmander consistently ranks among the most popular starters in franchise-wide fan polls. It has appeared in the TCG continuously since 1996 and is widely available in figure form, plush, and as part of larger Kanto starter gift sets. Its hidden ability, Solar Power, boosts Special Attack in sunlight at the cost of HP each turn.
