October 23 is 22 days out, and the pre-order floor for the Pokémon TCG Deck Crafter's Collection is $9.99.

That floor is lower than it was in August when this product was announced. Most pre-order products price up as launch approaches. This one moved the other direction, and that tells you something specific about how it's distributed and what to expect on launch day.

The short answer: the Deck Crafter's Collection includes 40 curated tournament-staple cards, a foil Meowth ex promo card, and one booster pack. It launches October 23 through mass-market channels, not specialty-channel allocation.

You won't find a $150 resale premium on launch morning. But the $9.99 floor won't last indefinitely either.

What's in the Box

The Deck Crafter's Collection is built for players at a specific transition point: you've gone through a starter deck, you understand the format, and you want 40 cards with actual tournament relevance rather than ten random pulls.

Inside the box: 40 curated tournament-staple cards, trainer cards, one booster pack from a recent SV-era set, and a foil Meowth ex promo. The promo is product-exclusive. It doesn't exist in any booster pack.

The 40 curated cards are the actual value proposition here. A single Journey Together booster pack retails at $6.49 from independent sellers.

At the $9.99 floor, that means the remaining 40 curated tournament cards effectively cost $3.50, or roughly $0.09 per card. No booster pack in any SV-era set delivers tournament-relevant content at that dollar-per-card rate.

Sealed collectors who want randomness should buy booster bundles or ETBs. This product has zero booster-gamble appeal. That's by design.

The Meowth ex Promo

Meowth has been in the Pokémon TCG since the Base Set in 1998, where it appeared as both a Pokémon card (52/102) and as a Trainer card. It spent most of the WOTC era as Team Rocket's signature supporting Pokémon. The ex-era treatment in the SV series marks the first time Meowth has headlined a dedicated stand-alone product at a mass-market price point.

The promo is foil and product-exclusive. You cannot buy it separately on launch day.

For collectors tracking Meowth's full card history, it's worth noting that Meowth ex cards exist across multiple SV-era sets. This Deck Crafter's promo is distinct from all of them: different numbering, different illustration treatment, no pack-pull path.

Three Pre-Order Tiers

The current price range runs $9.99 to $75 across active listings. That $75 ceiling is almost certainly a display case (six units), which works out to $12.50 per unit. The single-unit range is $9.99 to roughly $20.

Tier 1 ($9.99 to $10.00): Floor sellers

Paladin Cards and Cardboard Hero are at the floor. These are smaller independent shops accepting tight margins on a pre-order to build customer relationships.

The risk is minimal: the product is mass-market, not specialty-allocated, so your order won't get cancelled due to a Pokémon Company cap. The floor here is real.

Tier 2 ($12.50 to $14.99): Established mid-range retailers

Trucha Poke Shop ($12.50), The Poke Hive ($12.99), and Rip N Ship Arena ($14.99) fall here. These are established specialty retailers with clear in-stock and cancellation policies. The $2.50 to $5 premium over the floor buys clearer accountability if something goes wrong.

Tier 3 ($17.99 to $19.99): Standard retail pricing

Moonlight SLS ($17.99) and Flipside Gaming ($19.95) are at standard local game store pricing. The $8 to $10 premium over the floor is normal for established retailers absorbing full shipping and handling costs in their listed price. If you're already a customer of these shops, the pricing is consistent with everything else they sell.

Why the Floor Price Dropped Since August

In August, the pre-order floor was $11 to $18. It's now $9.99. That's unusual behavior.

ETB pre-orders almost always price up as launch approaches: the Wave 1 allocation closes, Wave 2 carries a secondary premium, and by launch day you're paying 20% to 50% above MSRP. The Deck Crafter's Collection has done the opposite.

The reason is distribution. Products like ETBs and Pokémon Center exclusives route through specialty-channel allocation, which caps total available units.

Once that allocation window closes, secondary market demand replaces primary market supply. The Deck Crafter's Collection routes through mass-market channels, the same path as Battle Decks and Booster Bundles.

There is no Pokémon Company-level allocation cap. Retailers can order more units when they run low. The floor price is stable precisely because there is no artificial supply constraint.

The $75 listing from Gold River Distributors breaks this pattern because it's almost certainly a display case (six units at $12.50 per unit). Buying a full display is the only format in the current Deck Crafter's lineup where bulk purchasing produces a per-unit cost below the single-unit floor of $9.99, assuming that case figure is accurate. That's a retail store or collector buy, not a personal pre-order.

Buy Now or Wait for Launch Day

The mass-market distribution answer is: you probably don't need to pre-order.

This isn't a Hidden Fates ETB. The Deck Crafter's Collection won't be stripped from shelves on launch morning by a wave of scalpers. It will be at local game stores, hobby shops, and major retailers on October 23 and for weeks after.

Pre-order makes sense in specific situations. If you want guaranteed delivery on October 23 from a specific seller you trust, or if the $9.99 floor is genuinely 20% to 40% cheaper than your nearest local game store will charge, the pre-order is worth completing now. The official Journey Together product page confirms the October 23 release date is fixed.

Wait for launch day if you're within easy distance of an LGS that will have it in stock. You'll be able to inspect the product before buying, and you won't be waiting 22 days for something you could pick up at the same price on October 23 without a pre-order.

One nuance: the $9.99 floor may not hold through launch. Some floor sellers will adjust their prices once they've confirmed their own allocation is filled. If you want the $9.99 pre-order specifically, acting before those sellers cap their orders is the only way to guarantee it.

The October Context

The Deck Crafter's Collection launches the same week as the second wave of 30th Celebration Knockout Collections and Delta Reign ME06's prerelease window (October 24 through November 1). October 23 itself is a busy release date.

For players focused on competitive format, the Deck Crafter's Collection is the priority purchase that week. For collectors focused on sealed value, Delta Reign is the higher-stakes product. The two audiences barely overlap.

The foil Meowth ex promo is the only thing that crosses both camps. Meowth has one of the longest continuous presences in the TCG of any non-starter Pokémon, with cards in every expansion era from Base Set through the current SV series. A product-exclusive foil ex promo at under $10 all-in is a genuinely unusual position for that character in the modern market.
