Pokémon ETB Sleeves: Size Guide and Compatible Brands (2026)
By Dexhaul Team · October 15, 2026 · 5 min read
Every Pokémon Elite Trainer Box ships with 65 sleeves, and all of them are standard size.
The official ETB sleeve fits a standard 63×88mm Pokémon TCG card, making it a direct match for aftermarket standard sleeves from Dragon Shield, Ultra PRO and KMC. You do not need a special ETB-only size; the standard-size shelf is the right shelf.
The 65-count is not a coincidence. A tournament-legal 60-card deck fills exactly 60 slots, leaving 5 spares for mid-game replacements.
That buffer was deliberate. One aftermarket 65-count pack covers a full deck swap with no sleeves wasted.

ETB Sleeve Specifications
The specs below apply to every Elite Trainer Box released by The Pokémon Company, regardless of set. The artwork changes with each expansion; the dimensions and count stay the same.
| Specification | Detail | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Count per pack | 65 sleeves | 60-card deck + 5 spares |
| Card size they fit | 63×88mm (Pokémon standard) | All standard Pokémon TCG cards |
| Sleeve type | Standard outer sleeve | Not an inner/perfect-fit slip |
| Design | Set-specific artwork | Changes every expansion |
| Double-sleeve compatible | Yes, as the outer layer | Pair with inner/perfect-fit slips |
The sleeve design is exclusive to that set's ETB. You cannot buy the Prismatic Evolutions artwork on its own in a standard aftermarket pack.
Which Aftermarket Brands Fit
Standard Pokémon cards are 63×88mm, per the official Pokémon TCG card specifications. Standard outer sleeves from every major brand are built to fit that footprint.
Dragon Shield's Classic and Matte standard sleeves measure 66×91mm outer dimensions, giving the card 1.5mm of clearance on each side. Ultra PRO's PRO-Matte and PRO-Gloss lines match those outer dimensions exactly. KMC's Hyper Mat standard sits in the same 66×91mm format.
All three are drop-in replacements. The difference between brands comes down to shuffle feel and pack size, not card fit.
Brand-by-Brand Price and Spec Comparison
The table below uses prices observed on October 15, 2026, from listings available through DexHaul. Pack counts vary by series; the per-sleeve cost is the more useful comparison if you are replacing a 65-count ETB pack.
| Brand / Series | Outer size | Pack count | Observed price | Price per sleeve |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ultra PRO PRO-Matte Standard | 66×91mm | 50ct | $4.99 USD | ~$0.10 |
| Ultra PRO PRO-Gloss Standard | 66×91mm | 100ct | $8.99 USD | ~$0.09 |
| Ultra PRO Gallery Series (Pokémon art, 65ct) | 66×91mm | 65ct | $10.99 USD | ~$0.17 |
| Ultra PRO Energy Type 65ct | 66×91mm | 65ct | $8.99 USD | ~$0.14 |
| Dragon Shield Classic / Matte Standard | 66×91mm | 100ct | Varies by seller | Varies |
| KMC Hyper Mat Standard | 66×91mm | 80ct | Varies by seller | Varies |
Dragon Shield packs ship in 100-count sizes. That is enough for one and a half 60-card decks, which works well if you are sleeving two decks at once or want a deep spare supply.
How ETB Sleeves Compare to Aftermarket
The practical differences are aesthetic and structural, not dimensional. Both types fit the same cards in the same deck box.
| ETB (included) | Ultra PRO PRO-Matte | Dragon Shield Matte | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Outer size | 66×91mm | 66×91mm | 66×91mm |
| Design | Set-specific artwork | Solid colour | Matte solid colour |
| Pack count | 65 | 50ct | 100ct |
| Shuffle feel | Smooth, lightly textured | Lightly textured | Very smooth matte |
| Works as outer for double-sleeving | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Exclusive artwork | Yes | No | No |
ETB sleeves are fully functional for tournament play. Many collectors keep the included pack intact and buy a matching solid-colour aftermarket pack for their actual play deck.
For deck box selection, note that double-sleeved cards with an inner plus an ETB outer run about 2mm thicker per card: a standard 80-card-capacity deck box will hold a 60-card double-sleeved deck comfortably.
When to Replace Your ETB Sleeves
Players replace sleeves when a pack becomes marked: scratched, scuffed, or visibly different from the rest. Tournament rules require all sleeves in a deck to be identical, and a single marked sleeve can result in a game loss during a sanctioned event.
The 5 spare sleeves in the ETB pack cover one or two mid-round replacements. Once those are gone, a fresh aftermarket pack is the fastest fix. Store the spares loose in your deck box rather than in the ETB insert so they are easy to grab.
Collectors who preserve the ETB pack sealed for display do not need to replace anything. If you opened the box but want to keep the original sleeves uncreased, store them flat in a card sleeve bag and buy an aftermarket pack for play. The same logic applies to toploaders: use working copies for handling and preserve display copies separately.
Frequently Asked Questions
What size are Pokémon ETB sleeves?
ETB sleeves are standard outer sleeves designed to fit the standard Pokémon TCG card size of 63×88mm. The sleeve outer dimensions are 66×91mm, consistent with all major aftermarket standard sleeves.
How many sleeves are in a Pokémon ETB?
Every Pokémon Elite Trainer Box contains 65 sleeves. That covers a 60-card deck with 5 spares, which is intentional: the extra sleeves are there for mid-game replacements during tournament play.
Are ETB sleeves good quality?
ETB sleeves are serviceable for casual play and short tournament runs. Long-term competitive players often switch to Dragon Shield or Ultra PRO PRO-Matte after a few months, as those lines are rated for higher shuffle counts and hold up better over multiple events.
Can I replace ETB sleeves with Dragon Shield?
Yes. Dragon Shield Classic and Matte standard sleeves are the same outer dimensions as ETB sleeves and fit every standard Pokémon TCG card. Dragon Shield ships in 100-count packs, so one pack replaces one ETB deck with 40 spares left over.
Do ETB sleeves work for double-sleeving?
Yes, as the outer layer. Use a separate inner sleeve (perfect-fit) first, then place the ETB sleeve on top.
See the KMC vs Ultra PRO inner sleeve comparison for guidance on which inner sleeve to pair them with.
