Pokémon Ghost Chateau 2026: Cyndaquil, Pikachu, and Every Format Explained

Cyndaquil is a Fire-type Pokémon, not a Ghost type. It cannot learn a single Ghost-type move in any main-series game. And in 2026, it is the co-star of Pokémon Center Japan's Ghost Chateau Halloween seasonal lineup.

That pairing is deliberate. Ghost Chateau is an annual Pokémon Center Japan release that changes its featured character every year. The series pairs Pikachu in ghost-themed cosplay with a second Pokémon chosen for that year's theme.

For 2025 the companion was Drifloon, an actual Ghost-type balloon. For 2026, Pokémon Center Japan selected Cyndaquil, the Johto Fire Starter, during the same calendar year the 30th Anniversary TCG arc has put Johto starters front and center.

The result is a lineup with more formats than most buyers realize: a mascot, a standard Poké Plush in two sizes, a sealed pair bundle, and an LED diorama figure that is not a plush at all. The price spread runs from $29.99 at the floor to $95.98 for the pair, with significant importer-margin variation in the middle.

Why Cyndaquil This Year

Cyndaquil (#155) is the Johto Fire Starter introduced in Gold and Silver. It is not spooky by design. Its Pokédex entries describe a timid Pokémon that curls into a ball when startled, shooting fire from the quills on its back as a defense.

The Ghost Chateau connection comes from timing and brand strategy, not typing. The 30th Celebration TCG set launched in September 2026 with heavy Johto representation alongside Kanto. Cyndaquil appeared as a promo insert in specific formats.

Selecting Cyndaquil for the 2026 Ghost Chateau run threads both audiences: Halloween seasonal buyers and collectors following the 30th Anniversary arc.

This also means the 2026 Ghost Chateau lineup is the first in the series where the secondary character is a Fire-type Starter with no Ghost or Dark typing at any evolution stage. That is unusual. It will not repeat.

Once the 2026 stock clears, that specific Cyndaquil design is done.

The Four Formats in This Lineup

The 2026 Ghost Chateau lineup is not a single product. Four distinct product types are currently in stock across multiple importers, and they are not interchangeable.

The Mascot

The smallest format in the lineup is the mascot plush. Joe's Japan Plushies carries the Cyndaquil Ghost Chateau Mascot at $32.00: a compact keychain-adjacent plush designed for bags and shelves rather than cuddling. This is the entry-level format for buyers who want the character without committing to the full plush size.

The Standard Poké Plush

The main format for both Cyndaquil and Pikachu is the Pokémon Center Poké Plush, sized at roughly 8.75 to 9.5 inches depending on character. Aopaoe carries both the Cyndaquil (8¾ in., $29.99) and the Pikachu (9½ in., $29.99) at the same floor price, making this the best per-character value in the lineup.

Mid-tier listings for the same plush run from $39.99 (Kayfabe Online, Pikachu) to $50.58 (Japan Figure Store, Pikachu). The difference is importer margin, not product quality.

All sellers are sourcing from the same Pokémon Center Japan production run. No seller in this range is offering a physically distinct product.

Galaxy Base Japan lists the same Cyndaquil plush at $69.98, explicitly noting it is Japan-sourced and sealed in original packaging. The sealed Japan tag is the primary justification for the premium over the $29.99 floor. Whether that premium matters to a buyer depends on whether they plan to display it unopened or use it.

The Pair Bundle

Galaxy Base Japan also lists the Cyndaquil and Pikachu together as a single bundle at $95.98.

The math here is simple. The Aopaoe floor is $29.99 per character. Buying both individually at floor prices costs $59.98 total, which is $36.00 less than the $95.98 pair bundle.

The bundle is not a discount. It is a convenience option for buyers who want both plush in a single transaction with matched Japan-import sourcing.

The LED Diorama Figure

This is the format most buyers searching "Ghost Chateau plush" will not find.

Mochi Ribbon lists the Cyndaquil Halloween Ghost Chateau Diorama LED Figure at $51.89. It is an official Pokémon Center Japan release, but it is not a plush.

It is a display figure housed in a diorama-style acrylic base with LED lighting built in. The character is molded, not soft-filled. The product is designed for shelf display, not handling.

At $51.89, the LED diorama costs more than the standard plush floor but sits below the sealed individual Japan import. It occupies a different display category entirely: buyers choosing between the LED diorama and the plush are not comparing like products. They solve different collector needs.

The Price Spread in One Table

Here is the full format range as it stands on October 4, 2026.

  • Cyndaquil Mascot (Joe's Japan): $32.00
  • Cyndaquil Poké Plush, floor (Aopaoe): $29.99
  • Pikachu Poké Plush, floor (Aopaoe): $29.99
  • Cyndaquil Ghost Chateau mid-tier (Galaxy Base): $37.98
  • Pikachu Poké Plush mid-tier (Kayfabe Online): $39.99
  • Cyndaquil Poké Plush, standard (Joe's Japan): $45.00
  • Pikachu Poké Plush (Japan Figure Store): $50.58
  • Cyndaquil LED Diorama Figure (Mochi Ribbon): $51.89
  • Pikachu Poké Plush (Cyndercake): $54.99
  • Pikachu Poké Plush, sealed Japan (Galaxy Base): $63.98
  • Cyndaquil Poké Plush, sealed Japan (Galaxy Base): $69.98
  • Pikachu Poké Plush premium import (ToyCartUSA): $83.29
  • Cyndaquil + Pikachu pair bundle (Galaxy Base): $95.98

The same standard Cyndaquil plush spans from $29.99 to $69.98 across active listings. That is a 2.3x spread on an identical product driven entirely by seller sourcing and margin, not by any quality difference. The $29.99 floor and the $69.98 ceiling are the same Pokémon Center Japan plush.

Which Format to Buy

If you want to put both characters on a shelf for under $70, the Aopaoe floor prices are the rational choice: $29.99 Cyndaquil plus $29.99 Pikachu equals $59.98, which is $36 less than the Galaxy Base pair bundle.

If sealed Japan-import presentation matters to you, Galaxy Base's individual sealed listings at $69.98 (Cyndaquil) or $63.98 (Pikachu) deliver that. Expect to pay $133.96 for both that way, versus $95.98 for the bundle. The bundle wins on price when you are committed to the sealed Japan tier for both characters.

The LED diorama is for buyers who want a lit display piece rather than a plush. It shares the Cyndaquil Ghost Chateau theme but is a fundamentally different object. Do not buy it expecting soft-fill plush construction.

One more thing worth noting: the 2025 carry-over stock is still present. Galaxy Base lists the 2025 Mascot Pikachu and Drifloon pair from last year's lineup at $25.98.

If you prefer the Drifloon coloring or want to diversify across years, that option exists at the low end of the range. But it is not a 2026 product.

Why These Sell Out When They Do

Ghost Chateau is not a mainline Pokémon Center product. It is a seasonal, limited-run Japan exclusive.

Pokémon Center Japan does not restock depleted units of prior-year designs. Once the importer pipeline for 2026 Ghost Chateau clears, the Cyndaquil Ghost Chateau plush and LED diorama do not come back.

Drifloon's 2025 version still has some remaining stock right now. The 2024 lineup and earlier have largely cleared. The pattern is consistent: mid-October through late November is when the current-year stock compresses fastest as Halloween passes and collectors stop looking.

That is where this lineup sits: October 4, twenty-seven days before Halloween.

The floor prices are still at import-arrival levels, not secondary-market premiums.
