Pokémon Keychains and Lanyards (2026): Every Design
By Dexhaul Team · October 12, 2026 · 6 min read
There are seven distinct types of official Pokémon keychains and lanyards in stock in 2026, running from $3 Bioworld fabric lanyards to $24 All Star Collection plush imports. The type you want depends on how you plan to use it: mascot clip-ons for bags, quicksand card keychains for desk display, acrylic panels for a light gift, or a lanyard that doubles as an ID holder at an event.
All products in this guide are officially licensed by The Pokémon Company International or Pokémon Center Japan. DexHaul is independent and not affiliated with The Pokémon Company.

Plush and mascot keychains
The All Star Collection is Sanei Boeki's flagship Japanese import keychain line: a reduced-size version of their full plush designs, about 5–8 cm, with a metal ring and clip loop at the top. Characters in stock include Gengar, Pikachu, Slowpoke, Mew and Dedenne, all at around $24 per character via import sellers. These are the same quality as the standing plush from the same line, just sized for a bag or zip pull.
Carabiner mascot plush are the rugged version of the same idea. Japan Figure Store and Ichiba Japan carry Pokémon Center Japan carabiner keychains for characters including Pikachu, Eevee, Charmander, Glaceon and Rowlet, typically $13–$24. The carabiner is a functional spring clip rather than a decorative loop, which holds significantly better on a bag strap under daily use.
For a budget alternative, the Bandai Pinch & Connect Mascot series (volumes 12 and 13 are Eeveelution-focused) runs $5.50–$9 per figure from specialist shops. These are soft rubber rather than plush, with a pinch-to-clip mechanism. They are a licensed Bandai product, not counterfeit, but the material quality is a step below the Sanei Boeki plush.
Quicksand card keychains
This is the most unusual Pokémon keychain type currently in stock.
KeychainMonster produces acrylic panels that seal card artwork inside a clear chamber filled with fine floating sand. The sand drifts across the artwork when you move the keychain, then settles into a new pattern. It does not obscure the image because the sand flows over a printed inlay rather than over the actual card.
The practical result: hang one vertically from a bag and the sand shifts with movement. Set it flat on a desk and it acts as a small display piece.
Characters in stock include Charizard EX, Charizard VSTAR, Charizard VMAX, Surfing Pikachu, Umbreon EX, Dragonite V, Cubone and Bulbasaur, all at $22–$23 observed October 12, 2026.
Pokémon lanyards: more than a neck strap
Bioworld's Kanto First Partner Series (Pikachu, Squirtle, Bulbasaur) is the clearest value in the lanyard category at $3–$4 per unit from Bioworld directly. Each one comes with two functional extras: a molded rubber charm of the character attached to the strap, and a clear ID card sleeve. The rubber charm clips off the lanyard so it also works as a standalone bag charm or zip pull.
That separation of parts is not typical of fan-made or generic lanyards, and it is worth knowing about if you are buying for a convention, school lanyard, or event where you need to display an ID badge. The ID sleeve on these sits at a 90-degree offset from the strap, making the badge readable when worn.
Official vs unofficial: what to check
The Pokémon keychain market has a high volume of unlicensed product alongside the official lines. Three checks help quickly sort them.
Packaging and copyright mark
Official keychains ship in sealed retail packaging with The Pokémon Company International or Pokémon Center Japan branding, a copyright line, and the manufacturer's name: Jazwares for Funism, Sanei Boeki for All Star Collection, Bandai for Pinch & Connect, Bioworld for lanyards.
No packaging, no mark, no manufacturer name: not official. See the full guide to spotting unofficial Pokémon products for more detailed checks.
Japanese import vs domestic release
All Star Collection plush keychains and carabiner mascot plush from Pokémon Center Japan were not sold through US or Australian retail channels. They are genuine licensed products, but the packaging is in Japanese.
Import sellers on DexHaul stock these legitimately. The price premium (roughly $20–$24 vs $8–$15 for domestic options) reflects import costs, not a quality anomaly.
Funism vinyl
Funism is a Jazwares licensed line and is sold through major US retailers as well as independent shops. If a listing describes a "Funism" keychain but the Poké Ball packaging is absent or the figure looks softer and less detailed than the seller photos, that listing is likely counterfeit. The licensed product has a defined seam line, a matching paint application, and Jazwares branding visible on the bottom of the figure.
Pokémon keychains as gifts this Q4
Keychains and lanyards are one of the most practical low-budget Pokémon gift categories for Q4: they are small, easy to ship, clearly licensed, and available under $15 from multiple sellers.
For a gift under $25, the Pokémon Center Japan Timeless Adventure acrylic keychain series works particularly well. Each panel features generation-specific Pokémon from one region (Unova, Sinnoh, Galar, Johto) in a single flat acrylic piece, which photographs clearly and does not require the recipient to already know a character.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a Pokémon mascot keychain and a plush keychain?
A plush keychain (like All Star Collection) uses the same soft fabric construction as a standing plush, just at a much smaller size with a clip. A mascot keychain is a general term that covers both the plush style and the rubber Pinch & Connect style. The carabiner mascot versions specifically use a functional spring clip attachment for more secure bag carry.
Are Funism Pokémon keychains official?
Yes. Funism is an officially licensed Jazwares product line. Each keychain comes packaged in a mini Poké Ball with Jazwares and The Pokémon Company International branding visible.
Characters available include Pikachu, Snorlax, Mimikyu, Morpeko and Cubone, among others.
What is a quicksand Pokémon keychain?
A quicksand keychain seals card artwork inside a clear acrylic panel with fine floating sand. The sand drifts across the artwork when you tilt the panel, then settles into a new pattern.
It works both as a bag keychain hung vertically and as a flat desk display piece. KeychainMonster makes the most widely stocked version, with designs based on Charizard, Umbreon and Pikachu card illustrations.
