Pokémon Mega Lucario Ex Figure Collection: Is the $106 Pre-Order Worth It?

Yes, for Lucario character collectors and anyone building a physical Mega Evolution collection, the pre-order at $106 makes sense.

The Pokémon Mega Lucario Ex Figure Collection was revealed at Pokémon Worlds 2026 and is now available to pre-order from independent merchants. It sits in the mid-range of current Mega Evolution premium products: above a single tin, well below the Ascended Heroes Poster Collection. The contents and price point are distinct enough that it isn't competing with anything already on shelves.

Here is what the box contains and how it stacks up against comparable products in the current market.

What's in the Box

The confirmed contents are: a Mega Lucario ex promo card, an oversized card, a Lucario figure, and booster packs.

The figure is the differentiator. Most Mega Evolution releases are tins or flat cardboard boxes.

Tins give you a foil promo and four boosters. Poster collections give you ten boosters and a large printed poster. The Figure Collection adds a three-dimensional physical collectible that has no pack equivalent.

You cannot pull a figure from boosters, and no other current English Mega Evolution product includes one.

The oversized card is format-exclusive. Oversized cards are display pieces rather than playable cards, produced at roughly twice the standard card size.

For a display shelf, the figure and the oversized card together give you two three-dimensional objects to show alongside your binder or case.

Two Lucario Cards, One Window

This is the detail worth knowing before you decide.

The Figure Collection features "Mega Lucario ex," the promo card in this box.

Separately, Bill's Archive reports that Aura Seeker (M7, Japanese release November 27, 2026) will introduce "Mega Lucario Z ex" as its set mascot. That is a different card with a different mechanic.

Mega Lucario Z ex is the first Z Mega Evolution in the TCG. It carries 330 HP and an ability called Aura Seeker that lets you search your deck for any Supporter once per turn while it is active.

These are two separate cards in the same arc. The Figure Collection promo secures a Lucario product now, in the current English window.

Aura Seeker, including Mega Lucario Z ex, has no confirmed English release date. The localization window for previous Mega Evolution sets has run three to four months after Japan, putting early 2027 as the working estimate.

Collectors building a complete Lucario TCG product timeline will eventually want both. The Figure Collection pre-order is the one with a live purchase path today.

Lucario's Premium Collection Track Record

Lucario is Pokémon #448, a Fighting and Steel type introduced in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. It has headlined premium sealed products since at least the Sword and Shield era. The Lucario VSTAR Premium Collection (above) remains available through independent sellers in the $99 to $110 range, a sign that demand for Lucario character products stays consistent even years after a product's initial release window.

That price persistence matters for a pre-order decision. Figure Collections with physical figures tend to hold collector interest because the figure is a one-time production run.

Tins get reprinted. Figures generally do not.

The Mega Evolution arc has been releasing since mid-2025 and is now in its fifth English set (Ascended Heroes, ME05). Lucario as the set mascot of the upcoming Japanese set means the character is positioned at a high point of visibility inside the block, not at the end of a cycle. That affects how these products are likely to perform.

$106 Against Three Benchmarks

The Ascended Heroes Premium Poster Collection (Mega Lucario) sits at $170 from Trading Card Market. It includes ten booster packs and a large format Mega Lucario ex poster.

No figure, no oversized card. If your priority is pack count, the Poster Collection offers more packs per dollar.

The 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box, shipping September 16, runs $164.95 at Galactic Toys. It includes nine boosters, sleeves, dice, and accessories.

No Lucario focus. No figure.

The two products are not competing for the same buyer.

The Lucario VSTAR Premium Collection (above) is in the $99 to $110 range depending on seller. It features VSTAR-era promo cards and boosters from that block.

For collectors who specifically want the Mega Evolution format rather than the VSTAR era, the Figure Collection is the correct current product. For those who don't care about era and want the lowest price point, the VSTAR collection is the alternative.

At $106, the Figure Collection is priced below the Poster Collection and the 30th Celebration ETB, while delivering something neither offers: a physical figure plus an oversized display card.

Who Should Pre-Order Now

Three distinct collector types have a clear reason to act on the Figure Collection pre-order today.

The first is the Lucario character collector. Lucario figures in this format are not common. If you display character-specific merchandise alongside your cards, the figure plus oversized card combination is a better display piece than a tin.

The second is the Mega Evolution arc completionist. The Figure Collection sits in the ME05 (Ascended Heroes) English release window.

Collectors building the arc in release order have a gap if they skip it. Later availability is not guaranteed at current prices.

The third is the buyer who wants shipping certainty. Pre-orders at independent merchants often ship at or just before the in-store date. Waiting for retail availability on a figure-format product carries more risk than waiting on a standard booster box, because the production run for a figure is typically smaller.

One note for Lucario collectors watching the September 16 window: the 30th Celebration Tech Sticker Collection (Lucario variant, above) is a separate, lower-price entry point at $34.95.

The two are not the same product. The Figure Collection is a Mega Evolution arc item with a figure; the Sticker Collection is a 30th Anniversary product with sticker sheets and a promo card.

They serve different parts of a Lucario-focused collection.
