Polaroid × Pokémon Three Days Out: What's In Stock, What's Overpriced, and What to Order Now

The Pokémon × Polaroid collaboration officially launches October 5. The cameras are already in stock today.

That distinction matters. Oct 5 is Polaroid's marketing moment: the date the collab goes live on their site and across official channels.

Focus Camera and the Polaroid US store have had the Go Gen 3 Pikachu and Sylveon cameras in stock at $99.99 each since early this week. If you want one, there's nothing to gain by waiting three days.

What follows is a product-by-product breakdown of exactly what's available right now, which bundles are worth the price, which ones aren't, and the one category of listings you should scroll past entirely.

Two Cameras, Two Film Formats

The collection has two distinct camera types with different film formats. This is the single most important thing to understand before ordering anything.

The Polaroid Go Gen 3 comes in Pikachu and Sylveon designs at $99.99 each from Focus Camera. It uses Polaroid Go film: credit-card-sized prints at $24.99 for a double pack of 16 exposures. The Go is a palm-sized instant camera and one of the smallest Polaroid formats available.

The Polaroid Now Gen 3 comes in one Pokémon Edition design at $139.99. It uses i-Type film: standard-size Polaroid prints at $22.99 for a pack of 8 exposures. The Now produces larger prints and has more advanced exposure controls.

Go film and i-Type film are incompatible: the cameras use different cartridge sizes. Keep that in mind before you order film.

Go or Now comes down to print size and cost per photo. Go film at $24.99 for 16 shots works out to $1.56 per print. i-Type at $22.99 for 8 shots is $2.87 per print.

The Go format costs 45% less per photo, which adds up over multiple film packs. The Now's larger print size and dual-exposure mode suit deliberate photography; the Go is easier to carry and cheaper to run day-to-day.

The Film You'll Need

Neither camera ships with film included in the standalone listings. You need to order film separately, or choose a bundle.

The Polaroid Go films come in two Pokémon character editions: Pikachu and Sylveon, both at $24.99 per double pack of 16 shots from the official Polaroid US store. Each pack includes a darkslide with an exclusive silhouette design.

The two editions use identical film stock. Only the border design and packaging differ, so Pikachu or Sylveon is purely a character preference, not a quality decision.

For the Now camera, the i-Type Pokémon Edition film at $22.99 from Polaroid US features eight random Pokémon designs per pack. It works only with the Now format cameras.

If you buy a Go camera and attempt to use i-Type film, the cartridge won't seat. They're physically different sizes. Order matching film for the camera you choose.

When Bundles Save You Money (and When They Don't)

Focus Camera offers several bundle configurations for both camera formats. The math is worth running before you add one to your cart.

The Go Gen 3 Pikachu or Sylveon accessories kit bundle ($139.95) includes the camera, a Pokémon film double pack, and an accessories kit. That's camera ($99.99) plus film ($24.99) for $124.98 separately, which means the bundle saves you $14.03 and adds the accessories at effectively $0. Worth it if you were going to buy film anyway.

The Go Gen 3 full kit ($179.95) adds a Pokémon camera case ($24.99) and a Pokémon Go Photo Album ($24.99) on top of the accessories kit components. Camera, film, case, and album purchased individually totals $174.96.

The $179.95 full kit costs $4.99 more than buying every item separately. There's no bundle discount at this tier. You're paying a small premium for a single shipment.

The Now Gen 3 bundle ($179.95 with flat strap) shows a similar result. The Now camera at $139.99 plus i-Type film at $22.99 totals $162.98 separately. Unless you specifically want the flat strap and accessories kit, the standalone camera and film order is cheaper.

The Presale Listings to Skip

Some third-party sellers are running "presale" listings for the Oct 5 launch at notably higher prices: $149.95 for the Go Gen 3 Pikachu and $159.95 for the Sylveon, compared to $99.99 in-stock at Focus Camera today. The Now Gen 3 presale is listed at $219.95 against $139.99 in stock.

These listings carry a $50–80 premium for a product you can order right now and receive before Oct 5. Unless a seller has confirmed a specific limited variant or bonus item not available through other channels (and none of the current presale listings do), the standard in-stock listings are the better option at every price point.

One More Thing: Non-Official Listings in Search Results

A search for "Pokémon Polaroid" returns a mix of official Polaroid × Pokémon products and unrelated items from other sellers. Fan-made art prints labeled "Pokémon Polaroid print" and informal import card packs carrying the word "Polaroid" in their titles are not part of this collaboration and have no connection to the official Polaroid brand.

The official Polaroid × Pokémon products carry the Polaroid logo on packaging, are sold by Polaroid US or authorized retailers, and include only the camera and film formats described above plus the photo accessories. Anything outside that set is either fan-made merchandise or unrelated product.

The Order Checklist

Three days out, here's the fastest path to the right order.

Pick your format first: Go (smaller prints, $1.56/shot, two character designs) or Now (larger prints, $2.87/shot, one design). Buy the camera and matching film as separate items or as the accessories kit bundle, which is the one bundle tier where you save money.

Skip the full-kit bundle unless the $4.99 premium for a consolidated shipment is acceptable to you. Skip all presale listings at above-retail pricing.

The Polaroid Lab ($159.99 from Polaroid US with i-Type film included) is a separate device: it converts digital phone photos to instant prints using i-Type film. It is not a camera and cannot take photos on its own. It's worth considering if you want Pokémon-themed instant prints from your phone rather than a dedicated camera experience.
