Pokémon Collector Chest Tins: Every Season in Stock, Ranked

The Pokémon Collector Chest Tin is one of The Pokémon Company's quietest product lines: released a few times a year, rarely talked about by the TCG community, and consistently decent value. It opens like a hinged treasure chest, includes booster packs from current or recent sets, and ships a foil promo card. The chest itself is the thing nobody mentions, because it is genuinely re-usable storage after the packs are gone.

Right now, independent shops list Chest Tins from 2017 through 2025. Some are worth buying at current prices. Others are priced well above what the pack content justifies.

This guide covers every seasonal edition in circulation, with a clear verdict on each.

What the Chest Tin Format Actually Is

The Collector Chest Tin is not a standard tin.

Standard Pokémon tins are cylinders or flat rectangles: one promo card, a few packs, a fixed graphic. The Collector Chest is a hinged box shaped like a treasure chest. The lid lifts, the interior is compartmentalized, and the whole unit is sized to hold cards, dice, or accessories after the original contents are removed.

The typical Chest Tin contains five booster packs from current-era sets, a foil promo card, and in most editions sticker sheets or a coin-style item. As noted on Bulbapedia's Collector's Chest page, the product has shipped in Spring, Summer (Back-to-School), and Fall windows since at least 2017.

Each edition's packs reflect the sets that were current at release. A Fall 2025 chest gives you current Scarlet and Violet-era packs; a Fall 2020 chest gives you Sword and Shield-era packs.

If you want to open current-era content, buy the most recent edition. Older editions are sealed-collectible plays tied to a specific era.

Fall 2025: The One to Buy Right Now

At $67 USD, the Fall 2025 Collector Chest Tin is the clearest recommendation on this list.

It contains packs from the current Scarlet and Violet era, meaning the booster content is relevant to today's Standard format and still widely traded. Rémi Card Trader lists it at $67 USD with stock available, and Kantocards has it in Mexico at MX$790 for regional buyers. These prices sit comfortably below what five individual SV-era packs would cost from most sellers, so the chest format is essentially free.

The Fall 2025 edition is also the one most likely to include a promo card featuring a recent Pokémon with current art-direction treatment. Earlier Chest Tins sometimes shipped promos for Pokémon that were also heavy in standard set print runs, making the promo feel redundant. Fall 2025 avoids that problem simply by being current.

Fall 2023 and Fall 2024: Recent-Era Editions at Mixed Prices

The Fall 2023 Collector Chest Tin is the most interesting value play in the current market.

It listed at $42.90 USD from Ravli: meaningfully below the $67 Fall 2025 price. The pack content covers early Scarlet and Violet-era sets (SV01 through roughly SV03). If you are building a full SV-era collection, $42.90 is a reasonable entry for the older portion.

For pure pulls, the Fall 2025 is better.

The Fall 2024 edition is CA$109.95 from 401 Games (approximately $80 USD). That sits above the Fall 2025 at $67 with only marginally newer packs.

If 401 Games is your preferred Canadian shop, it works. Otherwise Fall 2025 wins on value.

Spring and Back-to-School Editions: The Off-Season Format

The Spring and Back-to-School windows produce slightly different Chest Tins with different pack selections and sometimes different promo cards than the Fall editions.

Spring 2022 is listed at CA$99.95 from 401 Games. It is a Sword and Shield-era product; the packs came from SWSH sets.

For sealed collectors building an era-complete Chest Tin shelf, Spring 2022 fills the SWSH portion. For everyone else, SWSH packs are long-rotated and the price is elevated for what you get.

The Back-to-School 2024 edition at $47–$62 USD is an outlier worth flagging. It sits below the Fall 2023 price at some sellers, and the pack content is SV-era. If you find it at $47 USD (Mobros TC), that is the lowest price on any SV-era Chest Tin currently listed and represents solid value for a gift or casual purchase.

Vintage Editions: 2020 and Earlier

The Fall 2020 Chest Tin is where the calculation changes.

At $99.99–$149.95 CAD, you are paying a sealed-collectible premium for a SWSH-era product.

The packs have long-rotated out of Standard. East Coast Card Collector lists it at $99.99 USD; 401 Games holds the Canadian listing at CA$149.95. The appeal is a sealed, undisturbed unit from 2020 on your shelf.

The Spring 2017 edition at $275 USD is a different conversation entirely.

It would contain Sun and Moon-era packs, sealed for nine years. That price is a sealed-collectible bet, not an opening-value calculation.

It makes sense only if you are building a complete Chest Tin run from 2017 forward, at which point $275 is the cost of the oldest entry. As a gift or casual purchase, it has no argument at that price.

The Part Nobody Talks About: The Chest Itself

The Collector Chest Tin is the only standard-production Pokémon TCG product with a hinged lid designed for reuse.

After you open the packs, the box does not collapse into flat packaging. The chest format holds cards upright, slides onto a shelf without tipping, and stays shut on its own.

The interior cavity fits sleeved cards with room for dice or a divider. Collectors who repurpose it as desk storage tend to keep buying the format for exactly that reason.

The standard Elite Trainer Box at $45–$60 gives you more packs and better accessories but ships in cardboard that wears with handling. The Chest Tin's metal construction holds up to shelf use for years. For someone who wants a Pokémon product that doubles as ongoing storage, it is the only standard-line option that actually works that way.

Which Edition Should You Buy?

For most buyers, the answer is Fall 2025 at $67 USD, and it is not close.

Current-era packs, current promo, current collector relevance. If you want to spend less, the Fall 2023 at $42.90 USD from Ravli is the value pick: early SV-era packs at well below the Fall 2025 price, and the chest itself is identical in format. The Back-to-School 2024 at $47 is a similar case if you can source it at that price.

Avoid paying Fall 2024 (CA$109.95) when Fall 2025 is available at $67. The pack content is only one set generation newer in the Fall 2025, and the price gap does not justify the Fall 2024 at Canadian-to-USD conversion rates. Vintage editions from 2022 and earlier are sealed-collectible plays, not opening-value plays, and should only be considered if you are building an era-specific shelf.
