Venusaur is the cheapest path into the Kanto OG triumvirate, and the gap between it and Charizard keeps widening.
Pokémon number 003 on the National Pokédex, Venusaur completed the original starter trio alongside Charmander and Squirtle's final evolutions. It shipped in the same WOTC print runs as Charizard.
It anchors the current Mega Evolution product wave in sealed form. The product depth is real, spanning vintage TCG singles, plush, and Premium Collections.

The WOTC era also produced a Legendary Collection print of Venusaur in 2002, with reverse-holo and holo variants. Spankys Card Shop lists a Legendary Collection holo at $108. One distinction worth noting: the current Mega Forces Tins wave, which launched August 28, features Darkrai ex, Zeraora ex, and Dragonite ex as the three featured Pokémon. There is no Mega Venusaur ex Tin in the 2026 Mega Forces release. Beyond Cards: Plush and Figures
