Pokémon Winds and Waves Release Date: 2027, No Exact Day Yet
By Dexhaul Team · October 7, 2026 · 4 min read
Pokémon Winds and Waves has no confirmed release date. Game Freak and The Pokémon Company announced both titles during the Pokémon Presents on February 27, 2026, with one clear promise: 2027, global simultaneous launch. No month, no day, no specific window.
That makes today's short answer easy: you cannot pre-order Pokémon Winds or Pokémon Waves yet, and no retailer has an official listing to point you to.
Here is everything officially confirmed, what is still unannounced, and three Nintendo Switch 2 Pokémon games available right now while the wait continues.

What changed since the last update: no new announcements have been made between the February 27, 2026 reveal and this article's date of October 7, 2026.
Confirmed vs not announced: what that means for buyers
The 2027 window is confirmed at the highest level: a dedicated new pokemon.com news page and the official Pokémon Presents broadcast. That is solid footing.
Everything else is speculation at this point. No starter Pokémon have been shown, no region name has been given, and no game mechanic details have been revealed. The cinematic trailer gave no gameplay footage.
One detail worth noting: Winds and Waves is Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive from day one, with no Switch (original) version planned. Pokémon Legends: Z-A launched on both platforms in October 2025. The decision to skip the original Switch entirely is a first for the mainline series and signals the full transition to Switch 2 hardware for Generation 10 onward.
That also means anyone without a Nintendo Switch 2 will need the hardware upgrade before playing Winds or Waves.

How you'll know when the date drops
Pokémon release dates come through two official channels: the pokemon.com news feed and the Pokémon Presents broadcast series, which runs roughly twice a year.
The February 2026 Presents showed a cinematic trailer only. A second Presents later in 2026 or early 2027 is where a starter reveal, gameplay footage, and a firm date would typically be announced. There is no guarantee of timing on that second broadcast.
Bookmark the official Winds and Waves announcement page on pokemon.com. When the release date is confirmed, that page and the main pokemon.com news section will carry it first.
Pre-orders from retailers will typically open after the official date announcement, not before. Any retailer listing a specific release date for Winds or Waves right now is guessing.
