Ultra PRO Espeon and Umbreon Battle Deck Accessories (2026): Sleeves and Deck Boxes
By Dexhaul Team · October 15, 2026 · 6 min read
Ultra PRO is releasing Apex Sleeves Elite Series packs for both Umbreon and Espeon to coincide with the EN Espeon ex and Umbreon ex Battle Deck launch on October 30, 2026. Both are listed at $16.99 MSRP, hold 105+ cards, and are currently available as pre-orders from independent retailers.
The short answer on fit: use the 105ct packs, not a standard 65ct option.
A 60-card Battle Deck sleeved in a 65ct pack leaves only 5 spare slots. The 105ct Elite Series gives you 45 spares, which matters more than it sounds when you read the "Mistakes" section below.
Sleeve options at a glance
The table below covers the main Ultra PRO Pokémon sleeves in the catalogue. "Deck fit" reflects whether the pack holds a sleeved 60-card Battle Deck with room left over.
| Product | Count | Fits Battle Deck (60 cards) | Spare slots | MSRP | Observed price (Oct 15, 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apex Elite Series - Espeon | 105+ | Yes, with buffer | 45+ | $16.99 | $16.99 (pre-order) |
| Apex Elite Series - Umbreon | 105+ | Yes, with buffer | 45+ | $16.99 | $16.99 (pre-order) |

Why 105ct fits Battle Decks better than 65ct
The Espeon ex and Umbreon ex Battle Decks each contain exactly 60 cards. That number fits cleanly into a 65ct sleeve pack, but only just.
The catch: tournament rules and casual play alike require all sleeves in a deck to match. If one sleeve tears mid-game, you need a replacement from the same pack run. With only 5 spares in a 65ct pack, a single bad shuffle can leave you short.
The 105ct Elite Series packs give you 45 spare sleeves. That buffer is enough to cover damage across multiple play sessions, replace creased sleeves after shuffling in a new card, or start building a second deck from your collection without buying another pack immediately.
The Elite Series also uses a full-art character design printed directly on the back. That means it is harder to match the print run if you try to mix sleeves from a later restock, so buying one complete 105ct pack upfront is the practical move.
Choose by what you are protecting
Playing the deck as-is
Buy one Umbreon or Espeon Elite Series pack to match the deck you open. The 45-sleeve buffer covers normal play wear for at least several months of weekly games. Check the TCG binders guide if you also want to store your spare Energy or prize pulls separately.
Building up from the Battle Deck
Buy both packs. Players who plan to merge cards from both the Espeon ex and Umbreon ex decks into a single 60-card build need matching sleeves for the combined deck. Both packs use the same 105ct Apex construction, so card handling and flex are identical: the only difference is the character art on the sleeve back.
Giving as a gift
The Espeon and Umbreon Elite Series pair naturally with the Battle Decks as a gift bundle. See the Pokémon holiday gift guide for complete Q4 gift ideas across every budget.
The Energy Darkness Type 65ct sleeve is the budget option if you only want basic sleeve protection for the Umbreon deck. It costs $8.99 observed (October 15, 2026) and its solid Darkness Energy motif is a natural match for an Umbreon ex build. The trade-off is the tighter sleeve count.
Mistakes that damage cards in new sleeves
- Sleeving immediately after opening: let sleeves sit flat for a few minutes out of the bag. Cold-pack sleeves can stick slightly at the seam and crease a card edge on the first insert.
- Mixing sleeve brands mid-deck: different manufacturers use slightly different widths. Even a 0.5mm difference is detectable when shuffling, which is a rules concern at sanctioned events.
- Double-sleeving with no inner sleeve: inner sleeves (penny sleeves or perfect-fit sizes) protect the card face from the outer sleeve's interior. Without them, the card can shift and wear against the sleeve back over time.
- Using damaged sleeves past the crease point: a bent sleeve corner creates a mark that is visible from the back and can constitute a marked-card infraction. Replace early.
- Washing hands with soap only: residual soap film transfers to sleeve backs and makes shuffling noisy and slightly sticky. Use hand sanitizer or wash and dry fully before handling sleeved cards.
The Neon Kanto 105ct Charizard Apex pack is the current in-stock benchmark for the same 105ct Apex construction used in the Elite Series. At $23.99 it costs more than the Espeon and Umbreon pre-orders, but it ships now rather than on October 30.
Adding a deck box
A standard 60-card sleeved Battle Deck fits any deck box rated for 100 single-sleeved cards or more. The Pikachu Alcove Tower Deck Box ($41.99) is the current in-stock option from Ultra PRO direct.
The Alcove Tower holds 100 double-sleeved or 100 single-sleeved cards, meaning a 60-card Battle Deck fits without crowding. It includes a top-load magnetic lid and a removable drawer. If you prefer a flip-lid style, see the broader TCG accessories checklist for alternatives.
Frequently asked questions
When do the Espeon and Umbreon Apex Sleeves ship?
They are pre-order items tied to the October 30, 2026 EN Battle Deck release. Shipping dates vary by retailer. Check your order confirmation for an estimated dispatch date.
Are the Apex Elite Series sleeves standard size?
Yes. Ultra PRO's Apex line uses standard Pokémon TCG card dimensions (66mm x 91mm), the same size as all official Pokémon TCG sets released since Base Set. They fit every current Standard and Expanded format card.
Can I use one sleeve pack for both Battle Decks?
Not recommended for competitive play. Tournament rules require all sleeves to be identical.
If you combine cards from the Espeon ex and Umbreon ex decks, you need a full set of matching sleeves for the combined deck from a single pack. Mixing two different Elite Series arts is a marked-sleeve risk.
What is the difference between Apex and standard DECK PROTECTOR sleeves?
The Apex line uses a thicker gauge material with a textured back finish, intended to reduce shuffling drag compared to the standard DECK PROTECTOR line. Both are standard size. The Apex 105ct packs cost roughly $6 to $8 more than a 65ct standard pack at current observed prices.
Do the Battle Decks come with sleeves included?
No. The Espeon ex and Umbreon ex Battle Decks include the 60-card deck, damage counters, a coin, and a rulebook. Sleeves and deck boxes are sold separately.
