By Dexhaul Team · October 19, 2026 · 7 min read
Four booster packs. One playable deck. One promo card that you cannot pull from a standard pack.
The Chaos Rising Build & Battle Box ships with four ME04 booster packs, a 40-card ready-to-play deck (one of four configurations tied to the set's featured Pokémon), one alternate-art foil promo card, and a deck-building guide. The full set, listed in the official May 2026 product calendar, launched on May 22, 2026. Prices observed in October 2026 range from $29.99 to $55 USD at independent sellers.
This page covers exactly what is in the box, which promo variants exist, and when the Build & Battle Box is the right Chaos Rising product to buy over the ETB or the booster bundle.

|---|---|---|

The foil promo card sits inside the ready-to-play deck. It is an alternate-art version with a set stamp, not available in standard ME04 booster packs. The configuration printed on the outer sleeve tells you which promo is inside before you open it.
The four promo card variants
Chaos Rising centers on four featured Mega Evolution Pokémon. Each Build & Battle Box deck configuration is built around one of them, and each comes with that Pokémon's alternate-art foil promo.
The four promo variants are: Mega Floette ex, Mega Greninja ex, Mega Pyroar ex, and Mega Dragalge ex. These are stamped alternate-art foil cards. The same Pokémon appear in standard ME04 booster packs, but the alternate-art promo version with the stamp is only available through the Build & Battle Box.
You cannot choose your deck configuration at a prerelease event. The store assigns boxes to players. If you want a specific promo, buying individual retail boxes is more reliable than attending a prerelease and hoping for the right variant.
To collect all four promos, you need four separate Build & Battle Boxes, one of each configuration. Storing them sealed preserves the stamp's collector appeal, though the promo's value as a playable card comes from opening and playing it.
MSRP and observed price
| Format | MSRP | Observed price (Oct 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Build & Battle Box (ME04) | Not officially announced for ME04 | $29.99–$55 USD |
No official MSRP for the ME04 Build & Battle Box appears in sources available at time of writing. Recent Build & Battle Boxes from the Scarlet and Violet series carried an MSRP of $14.99. The floor price observed in October 2026 at independent sellers is $29.99.
How the Build & Battle Box compares to other Chaos Rising formats
| Format | Packs | Promo | Deck included | Accessories |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Build & Battle Box | 4 | 1 of 4 alternate-art foil | Yes (40 cards) | Deck-building guide only |
| Elite Trainer Box | 9 | Mega Greninja ex full-art foil | No | 65 sleeves, 45 Energy, dice, coin, box |
| Booster Bundle | 6 | None | No | None |
The Build & Battle Box is the only Chaos Rising format that gives you a playable deck on day one. It is also the only format with exclusive alternate-art promos. The ETB has more packs and a different Mega Greninja ex promo, but no deck and no way to play immediately.
The Booster Bundle gives six packs at roughly the same cost as the B&B Box, with no promo and no deck. If your goal is pure pack volume, the bundle is the better value. If your goal is to play or to collect the stamped promos, the Build & Battle Box is the only product that delivers both.
The Chaos Rising set
Chaos Rising (ME04) is the fourth entry in the Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution series, released on May 22, 2026. The story centers on Mega Floette ex disrupting the city, with Mega Greninja ex leading Mega Pyroar ex and Mega Dragalge ex to counter the threat. These four Mega Evolution Pokémon ex drive the set's artwork and the Build & Battle Box deck variants.

Prerelease events and Build & Battle Box play
Build & Battle Boxes are the official product for Pokémon TCG prerelease events. At a prerelease, each registered player receives a box at the door. You open it on site, build a 40-card deck from the ready-to-play deck plus your four booster packs, then play in a small tournament-format event.
The prerelease format uses 40 cards and four Prize cards instead of the standard 60-card and six-Prize configuration, as Pokémon's organized-play guidelines describe. This makes prereleases accessible for players who are new to competitive play.
Prerelease entry typically runs $25–$45, depending on the store. That entry fee covers the Build & Battle Box itself. Even if you skip the games and just want the sealed product, attending a prerelease is often the fastest way to get a Build & Battle Box the moment a set launches.
ME04 Chaos Rising prereleases ran ahead of the May 22, 2026 full retail launch. At this point, the set is fully released and boxes are available through independent sellers at retail.
Who should buy the Chaos Rising Build & Battle Box
Players who want to play immediately
The 40-card ready-to-play deck is the only Chaos Rising format that lets you sit down and start playing right out of the box. No deck-building knowledge required. The included guide explains how to upgrade the deck over time.
Collectors targeting the stamped promos
The four alternate-art foil promos are only available through the Build & Battle Box. They carry a set stamp that distinguishes them from the same Pokémon in standard booster packs. If you want the Mega Floette ex, Mega Greninja ex, Mega Pyroar ex, or Mega Dragalge ex in their promo alternate-art form, this box is the only way to get one sealed.
Who should skip it
The Build & Battle Box carries fewer packs than the ETB and no collector accessories. If your goal is pack volume, sleeves, or energy cards, the Chaos Rising ETB is the better fit. If you only want packs and no deck, a Booster Bundle is more efficient per pack.
