Articuno Collector's Guide 2026: Two Fossil Cards, the Galarian Psychic-Type, and the Mini Tin That Skipped It

The 30th Celebration Mini Tin lineup, releasing October 2, 2026, features Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo, Mew, Umbreon, Espeon, Greninja, Lapras, and both Pikachu variants. Articuno is not on the list.

That single omission is the sharpest signal in the 2026 Articuno market. It tells you exactly where the demand pressure sits and where it doesn't.

This guide covers Articuno's full collector picture: the Kanto price ladder from $0.50 to $48, the Galarian market anchored by the Chilling Reign Alt Art, what Crown Zenith sealed costs today, and where plush fits in. It is independent and unofficial, not affiliated with The Pokémon Company.

The Kanto Card Ladder

Articuno's TCG history starts in the 1999 Fossil Set with two distinct entries, and that dual presence still confuses collectors.

Card 2/62 is the holo rare. Card 17/62 is the non-holo rare. Both feature the same Articuno illustration, but they are different physical cards with different foil finishes and different prices.

The non-holo 17/62 is available at storefront prices around $10.90. The holo 2/62 commands meaningfully more, and the gap widens sharply in 1st Edition condition.

Searching "Fossil Articuno" without knowing which version you need is the most common Articuno buying mistake.

Check the card number before you buy.

Articuno 025 Holofoil Generations - Holo Rare · $48.25 USD

Above the Fossil floor, XY Generations 25/83 is the premium mid-tier Kanto Articuno card. At $43–$48 raw NM, it sits above most modern SV-era singles for the same Pokémon, and it earns that premium: Generations was a limited distribution set tied to the 20th Anniversary, making print quantities structurally lower than standard XY sets.

The Classic Collection reprint (009 holo, from Celebrations 2021) lands at $16. Same artwork as the original, printed at higher volume, and correctly priced below Generations. It is the right card for display collectors who want the original Articuno holo aesthetic at a sensible buy-in.

At the modern end, Journey Together (SV09, 2025) gave Articuno an Illustration Rare: card 161/159, out-of-set numbered above the set total the way the SV era marks IR and higher-tier cards. At $22–$32 raw, it is the highest-value in-print Kanto Articuno card right now. The same set's 032/159 uncommon floors at $0.50, creating a 64x range within a single set and a single species.

Galarian Articuno: Psychic/Flying and the Chilling Reign Market

Galarian Articuno flips the type entirely. The Kanto form is Ice/Flying; the Galarian form is Psychic/Flying, a change that creates a completely separate collector market with different price anchors, different sets, and different sealed products.

$76.00 USD

The Galarian Articuno V Alternate Full Art 170/198 from Chilling Reign is the highest-value Galarian Articuno single in circulation. Raw NM copies are selling at $68–$76; PSA 10 graded copies are landing around $230. The 3x graded premium is on the lower end for a card of this popularity, suggesting the grading ceiling for this card has more room to develop as population grows.

The Evolving Skies standard Galarian Articuno 063/203 sits at £0.38 at the absolute floor. That contrast, with the Alt Art sitting 150x above it, entirely follows character-based pricing in the SWSH era: tier and artwork drive price, not species demand alone.

Galarian Articuno also has a Chilling Reign Galarian Gallery slot. The Galarian Gallery cards were Crown Zenith's prestige sub-set for Sword and Shield-era Galarian forms, and Articuno's entry is included in the Crown Zenith tin that remains available at sealed prices today.

The Crown Zenith Tin: Sealed at a Premium

Crown Zenith Tin [Galarian Articuno]

$164.75 USD

The Crown Zenith Galarian Articuno Tin is the primary sealed product path for this form. At $110–$164 from current independent sellers, it carries a secondary-market premium above its original retail price, which means buyers are paying for scarcity, not MSRP. Singles remain the more efficient route if you specifically want the Galarian Gallery card for your collection.

There is no dedicated Articuno tin or box in the 30th Celebration lineup. Zapdos and Moltres each received standalone tins in the Oct 2 Mini Tin wave.

Articuno's only 30th Celebration product is a shared one: the Kanto Legendary Birds Trio Poster Collection, where Articuno appears alongside Zapdos and Moltres as one of three foil promos. For collectors targeting a 30th Celebration Articuno card, that Poster Collection promo is the only route in the current product slate.

Plush: Three Formats, Three Price Points

Articuno Pokemon fit plush toy
Articuno Plush Pokémon fit · $21.00 USD

The Pokémon fit plush is the entry point. At $20–$25 depending on seller, the fit series gives you the 6-inch poseable-wing format that makes Articuno look exactly as it does in the games. It is the right choice for shelf display where proportion matters.

The Sanei All Star Collection Articuno runs $39.99. At 9 inches, it is larger and softer than the fit, with a more rounded face sculpt. It targets the same collector market as the Sitting Cuties, which comes in at $52.49 for the 5-inch Pokemon Center version.

The Galarian Articuno Poké Plush at $91.39 is a different product entirely: 26.5 inches, designed as a display piece rather than a shelf companion. That size premium ($91 vs $21 for the fit) is entirely about format, not form. Kanto and Galarian Articuno plush are completely separate collector targets.

Kanto Classic Collection: The Budget-Tier Holo

Articuno 009 Classic Collection holofoil Pokemon Celebrations card
Articuno (009) - Holofoil - Classic Collection · $16.00 USD

The Classic Collection 009 from Celebrations (2021) is the sensible answer to the question "I want the vintage Articuno holo aesthetic without paying vintage prices." At $16 raw NM, it is the Fossil holo look at a fraction of the cost. The Classic Collection reprint was explicitly designed as an accessibility product, and Articuno's copy prices reflect that intent.

One key difference: the Classic Collection card has the Celebrations set symbol, not the Fossil set symbol. For collectors building a Fossil Set run, the reprint does not substitute for the 2/62 original. But for everything else, it is a clean display card at a sensible price point.

How the Price Tiers Stack Up

From floor to apex: Journey Together 032/159 uncommon at $0.50, Fossil 17/62 non-holo at $10.90, Classic Collection 009 holo at $16, Journey Together 161/159 IR at $22–$32, XY Generations 25/83 holo at $43–$48, Galarian V Alt Art raw at $68–$76, Galarian V Alt Art PSA 10 at $230. The spread runs 460x from floor to graded apex on a single species. The entire gap between $68 and $230 is grade and certification, not card scarcity.
