Delphox Collector's Guide 2026: Fire/Psychic Starter, BREAK Era, and the Mega Evolution TCG Form
By Dexhaul Team · September 28, 2026
Delphox is the Kalos fire starter with the widest TCG spread in 2026.
Chesnaught and Greninja each have their collector arcs, but Delphox is the only one of the three to have a Black Star Promo EX, a BREAK extension, a V card from the modern era, and now a TCG-exclusive Mega form in ME05: Pitch Black. Its Fire/Psychic dual typing is unique among starter final evolutions across all nine generations: no other starter reaches the final evolution stage carrying both types. That dual identity runs through every era of its card history, from the XY Flashfire EX through to the ME05 Mega form that the games never actually gave it.
Each tier of that history sits at a very different price point: the entry is $0.50 and the ceiling is $149.99.
Here is how to read the spread.
The XY Era: Flashfire and the Black Star Promo
Delphox EX debuted in Flashfire (May 2014) as card 13/106. Flashfire was the English set that introduced the first wave of Mega EX mechanics, and Gardevoir, Aggron, and Heracross all received M EX forms in that window. Delphox did not.
The games never gave Delphox a Mega Evolution, which left the XY EX line without a counterpart for the fire starter through the entire XY era.
The XY19 Black Star Promo followed as a separate promotional release with different artwork from the Flashfire version.
The XY19 promo is currently the most accessible English EX card for the character, with copies available at CA$14 at 401 Games and $10 at Gamers Emporium. The Flashfire 13/106 full art trades higher. Both versions predate the Mega form and represent the EX era before the ME TCG series filled in the Mega gap.
The BREAK Era: Fates Collide Collection
The BREAK era gave Delphox a second XY card tier. A Delphox BREAK was distributed through the Delphox BREAK Collection during the Fates Collide window in 2016.
BREAK cards used a horizontal orientation and a new border style to signal the mechanic extension above the standard EX tier. Delphox's was distributed as a collection-exclusive promotional card rather than a standard booster pull.
Sealed products from this window now carry secondary premiums driven by XY sealed scarcity, not individual card demand. The collector angle on Delphox BREAK is the sealed collection box and associated booster packs, which currently trade at $65 to $96 for authenticated near-mint copies.
Mega Delphox ex: The TCG-Exclusive Mega Form
The Mega Evolution TCG gave Delphox the Mega form the games never did.
Mega Delphox ex appears in ME05: Pitch Black as 008/084. Unlike most Mega Evolution TCG headliners, Delphox has no canonical Mega Evolution in any mainline Pokémon game from Gen 6 through Gen 9. ME05 is the only official Mega Delphox design in the franchise.
An early series slot at 008 of 84 places it among the first Double Rares in the set, consistent with a secondary headliner role rather than a deep-set chase card.
The base Double Rare sits at $0.50 to $1.45 across multiple sellers. That floor makes Mega Delphox ex one of the more accessible entry points in the ME series for a character with no prior canonical Mega coverage.
Delphox also appeared as a supporting card in ME04: Chaos Rising as 013/086. Stamped tournament versions of that Chaos Rising card circulate from official ME event distributions, with the tournament stamp adding a collector premium above the base card price.
The Staff Promo Gap
The same Mega form exists at a completely different price point when it carries a tournament staff stamp.
MEP074 is a sealed Mega Evolution Holo Staff Promo: a card distributed to tournament staff at official Mega Evolution TCG events, not to participating players. A sealed, near-mint copy is listed at $149.99 at Key Items Collectibles.
That is roughly a 100x gap above the Pitch Black base Double Rare for a card featuring the same Mega form. The spread is driven entirely by the exclusivity of the staff distribution channel: card text, art, and Pokémon are identical to the event-floor versions, only the access mechanism is different.
The MEP074 sealed listing is the ceiling for the Mega Delphox ex collector tier. Below it sits the Chaos Rising stamped version at $17, and below that is the base Double Rare at $1.45.
Each step is a different distribution channel, not a different card concept.
Delphox V and the Modern Era
Lost Origin (SWSH12, 2022) added Delphox V as 173/196 at the Ultra Rare tier.
Lost Origin introduced the Lost Zone mechanic at scale across the format, and Delphox V carried a Psychic-type attack package that fit the energy-manipulation themes of that set's competitive window. At $4 from SV Sports and Trading Cards, it is the current entry point for a modern above-common Delphox card.
No Delphox ex card exists in the English SV main-series sets through September 2026. The V from Lost Origin is the current modern ceiling for the character. The same set contains a standard non-holo Delphox rare (027/195) at CA$0.49, giving collectors two distinct art tiers within a single recent set: a CA$0.49 floor and a $4 V, separated entirely by rarity tier treatment rather than any change in card role.
The Plush Tier
The collector merch tier for Delphox has one clear anchor: the Pokémon Center Delphox Poké Plush at 15.25 inches.
This is the large-format display piece for the character, distinct from the standard 5-inch Pokémon Fit format. At $87.34 via ToyCartUSA, it sits at the premium end of the official plush range for Kalos starters and is the collector-display option when shelf presence is the goal. The standard Pokémon Fit format plush exists for Delphox through Japanese importers at significantly lower price points, giving collectors two entry tiers with a material size difference between them.
There is no All Star Collection or Fuwafuwa Daki plush for Delphox. The Fit and the Poké Plush are the full merch range.
Before Legends Z-A
Legends Z-A arrives October 16.
The game is set in Lumiose City, the capital of Kalos and the region where Delphox originates. It is the first mainline game to return to the Kalos setting since XY launched in 2013. As one of the three Kalos starter evolutions, Delphox will appear in its home region for the first time in over a decade of mainline releases.
Whether that drives a new TCG card, a dedicated sealed product, or expanded plush coverage depends on The Pokémon Company's product wave for the launch. The buying window for existing Delphox products sits now: before Legends Z-A launch searches lift secondary prices on the back catalog.
