Giratina Collector's Guide 2026: VSTAR, Fit Plush, and the Two-Forme Challenge
By Dexhaul Team · September 6, 2026
Giratina is the only main-series Pokémon with two visually distinct formes that each carry full representation across TCG cards, plush, and merchandise, making a complete collection a deliberate two-track project rather than a single target hunt.
The Renegade Pokémon, number 487 in the National Pokédex, is a Ghost/Dragon type from the Sinnoh region. Bulbapedia documents both formes: Altered Forme is the default encounter, a grey armored dragon with spine-like legs and winglike appendages.
Origin Forme, first accessible in Pokémon Platinum (2008 Japan, 2009 US) via the Griseous Orb or the Distortion World, is serpentine and dramatically different in silhouette.
That distinction is what makes collecting Giratina interesting in 2026. The buying decisions are different from most Pokémon characters, because choosing the right card or plush requires picking a forme first.
The Two-Forme Divide
Most collectors know about the two formes in passing. Few realize how consistently they split the product landscape.
In the Pokémon Fit plush line, both Altered Forme and Origin Forme are sold as separate SKUs at the same price. That is unusual: most multi-forme Pokémon (Lycanroc, Oricorio, Rotom) have only one design in the standard Fit range.
Giratina gets both. For a display collector, that means two deliberate purchases to complete the set.
In the TCG, the same split runs through Lost Origin (SWSH11), the set that built its identity around the character. The standard holo VSTAR (131/196) depicts Altered Forme, while the Special Art Rare VSTAR (201/196) depicts Origin Forme in the Distortion World.
They carry the same VSTAR Power mechanic and are functionally identical for play. Together they represent both faces of Giratina at the VSTAR rarity, at very different price points.
Lost Origin: The Definitive Giratina TCG Chapter
Lost Origin, released in English on October 21, 2022, centered its Lost Zone mechanic on Giratina as the set's flagship character. Serebii's SWSH11 card listings show six Giratina-focused entries across V and VSTAR stages.
The Giratina V cards run from 130/196 (standard Rare Holo) to 185/196 (Full Art Ultra Rare) to 186/196 (Alternate Art Ultra Rare). The VSTAR cards are 131/196 (standard Rare Holo), 201/196 (Special Art Rare), and 212/196 (Secret Rare holofoil treatment).
For set completionists, Lost Origin is the most Giratina-dense set in English TCG history. That depth also gives collectors flexibility: there are entry points from under $5 for a raw standard holo up to four-figure PSA 10 graded copies of the most desirable art.
The Cards Worth Targeting in 2026
Buying Giratina cards efficiently means understanding which cards cover which forme.
The 201/196 SAR is the piece most buyers want first. It shows Origin Forme in dramatic, painterly art, and raw copies from independent merchants are available around $35. It is not the cheapest path into Lost Origin Giratina, but it is the most visually impactful single card in the set.
The V Full Art at 185/196 pairs well with the SAR as a budget companion: it shows Altered Forme at Ultra Rare treatment, and raw copies run $17–$20. Together, the V Full Art and the VSTAR SAR give a collector both formes across the two best non-graded art styles in the set, for under $55 combined.
The 212/196 Secret Rare is the third option. It is a holofoil treatment of the VSTAR Altered Forme art, priced around $18 raw. It is not the SAR and does not show Origin Forme, but the gold-border treatment stands out on a display shelf and offers a cost-effective way to add a third Giratina card without repeating a forme.
Raw standard holos (131/196 and 130/196) remain easily affordable: under $5 at most card shops. If you are building a binder page, these fill the base slots while keeping the premium budget for the art-forward cards.
Pokémon Fit Plush: Both Formes at the Same Price
The Pokémon Fit line handles the forme split differently from the TCG: both Giratina designs are equal-priority products at the same retail price.
Altered Forme Fit is the one most collectors find first, since Altered is the more recognizable silhouette. It is available through independent merchants at $21. Origin Forme Fit, with its serpentine profile and fin-spine detailing, is available at $19.99–$21 depending on the merchant.
A two-plush Giratina display costs under $45 total. That is the most affordable way to represent both formes in three-dimensional form.
Larger plush and figures exist, but most depict only one forme. The Fit line is the only standard product family where both designs are equally available at matched prices.
Building Your Giratina Collection: Three Budget Levels
A Giratina collection comes together differently depending on how deep you want to go.
Entry level: under $55
The V Full Art 185/196 at $17.99 and the VSTAR 212/196 Secret Rare at around $18 together cover two cards at distinct rarity tiers, both available raw from independent merchants. Add one Fit plush (your choice of forme) and you have a starter display for under $55 that covers both the TCG and merchandise categories.
Mid-range: $55 to $120
The 201/196 SAR at $34.98 anchors this tier. Pair it with the V Full Art for forme-balanced card coverage, then add both Fit plush at $21 each. Total sits around $95 for four pieces representing every major Lost Origin Giratina card art and both forme designs in plush form.
Chase level: $200 and above
Graded 201/196 SARs start around $200 for PSA or TAG 9 copies and reach $530 or higher for PSA 10.
The Japanese S11 equivalent (the 125/100 Secret Rare in Lost Abyss) commands $1,500 or more in PSA 10, as the Japanese release is a separate card with distinct art framing. These are long-term collector targets. Verify seller reputation and slab authenticity before committing at this tier.
