Dialga and Palkia in 2026: A Sinnoh Collector's Guide to the Time and Space Legends
By Dexhaul Team · September 2, 2026
Dialga and Palkia defined the Sinnoh era of the Pokémon TCG, and nearly two decades later, both are still worth collecting.
The two legendaries debuted as mascots of Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl in 2006, released internationally in 2007. Their TCG cards followed immediately, anchoring the Diamond and Pearl base set. Since then, they have appeared in every major era of the game, from Level X mechanics to VSTAR and beyond.
This guide covers their card history by era, the products available in 2026, and the one packaging detail that makes Dialga and Palkia collectors unique.
The Diamond and Pearl Era (2007–2010)
The original Dialga (1/130) from the Diamond and Pearl base set is the foundation for any Sinnoh collector.
It is a Metal-type holo rare featuring Dialga in its classic standing pose against the deep blue artwork typical of the DP era. Raw copies in near-mint condition sit around $53 from singles sellers, making it an accessible but historically significant pick.
Dialga also appeared in Majestic Dawn (4/100) at a similar price point, and in the Great Encounters set as a Level X card. The LV.X mechanic was the era's chase format: Dialga LV.X from the DP Black Star Promo series (DP17) runs around $127 raw, while a CGC 9 copy of the Great Encounters LV.X reaches over $1,000. These are specialist targets, not entry cards.
Palkia's DP-era cards track roughly parallel. The original (1/130) is slightly less common in singles supply but commands similar prices. Collectors building a complete Sinnoh set typically target both the Dialga and Palkia holos from the DP base as a starting pair.
The XY Era: EX Cards and a Surprise Secret Rare
The XY era brought EX mechanics, and both legendaries got full-art treatments.
Palkia EX (31/122) from XY BREAKpoint is the most accessible EX-era entry for either character. Raw copies are available around $7.50, which is unusually affordable for a full-art Pokémon EX. The card has genuine collector value without a high barrier to entry.
Dialga EX reached a different tier entirely. The secret rare Dialga EX (122/119) from XY Phantom Forces is a $300 card in raw near-mint condition.
It is printed beyond the set's numbered total and features the gold-bordered secret rare treatment. Most collectors treat it as a long-term goal rather than a first purchase.
The VSTAR Era: The Most Collectible Versions of Both
Astral Radiance (2022) changed everything for Dialga and Palkia collectors.
The set introduced Origin Forme versions of both legendaries, based on their alternate designs from the Pokémon Legends: Arceus game. Origin Forme Dialga and Origin Forme Palkia look nothing like their original DP appearances. Their forms are more elemental, angular, and dramatic, and the Astral Radiance set gave each a full V and VSTAR card.
Origin Forme Dialga VSTAR became one of the strongest Standard-format competitive decks of the 2022 season, paired with Arceus VSTAR. The pairing was fast, tanky, and capable of searching out virtually any card in the deck. Collectors who follow competitive history treat the Dialga VSTAR as a milestone card from the VSTAR era, not just a character piece.
Both Origin Formes received Gold Galarian Gallery versions in Crown Zenith (GG68 and GG69). These gold-border secret rares sit at $123–$140 for raw near-mint copies and are the chase singles most Sinnoh collectors prioritize. The Crown Zenith Galarian Gallery is a short run, and these cards tend to hold attention from collectors who tracked either Pokémon through the competitive era.
Palkia VSTAR also saw serious Standard play with its Subspace Aqua Vstar Power, enabling dramatic energy acceleration. The Origin Forme Palkia VSTAR Premium Collection is still available from sealed-product sellers at a range of prices depending on condition and seller.
The Detail That Sets These Two Apart
Dialga and Palkia are the only Sinnoh legendary pair to receive a co-titled Premium Collection at the VSTAR rarity level.
The Origin Forme VSTAR Premium Collection bundles both characters together in a single box. Most Premium Collections focus on one Pokémon.
This one packages Origin Forme Dialga VSTAR and Origin Forme Palkia VSTAR oversize cards, promo cards, pins, and booster packs from Astral Radiance and other Sword and Shield sets. That pairing makes it unusual in the TCG product line and gives collectors a single purchase that covers both legends at once.
Currently available from independent sellers at $124–$130 for the combined edition, it is the most efficient way to add sealed Sinnoh content to a collection without committing to two separate boxes.
The Accessible Entry: Azure Legends Tins
For collectors who want current sealed product at a lower price, the Azure Legends Tin is the practical pick.
The Dialga ex Azure Legends Tin includes a foil promo Dialga ex card and five Scarlet and Violet booster packs. Multiple sellers carry it in a $30–$55 range depending on condition and shipping region. It is the most widely available sealed Dialga format right now, and the entry price is low enough to work as a casual gift or a shelf piece without significant commitment.
A Palkia equivalent in the Azure Legends line is less common in current UCP listings, which pushes Palkia collectors toward singles or the combined Premium Collection if they want sealed content.
Beyond Cards: Plush and Model Kits
Both Pokémon have strong merchandise lines for collectors who build displays rather than binders.
The Pokémon Fit line from Pokémon Center Japan produced small weighted plush of Dialga and Palkia, currently available through importers at around $20 each. These are the standard choice for anyone who wants a simple shelf presence for both legendaries at low cost.
Nanoblock DX construction kits for Dialga and Palkia run $44–$55 and are a well-regarded alternative to plush for display-oriented collectors. Bandai model kits exist for Dialga as well, with the Gundam Planet listing priced around $32.
A Dialga 13.5-inch plush from Kawaii Gifts ($65) is the larger format option if you want either character as a prominent shelf centerpiece rather than a small accent piece.
Where to Start in 2026
The choice depends on what kind of collector you are.
If singles are the goal, start with the Palkia EX (31/122) from XY BREAKpoint at around $7.50: it is genuinely affordable, genuine format history, and the right first card for a Sinnoh singles collection. From there, the Dialga DP base holo ($53) and the Crown Zenith Galarian Gallery VSTAR ($123–$140) are the two milestones most collectors set their sights on.
If sealed product is the goal, the Azure Legends Tin is the obvious starting point for Dialga. For a product that covers both legendaries at once, the combined Origin Forme VSTAR Premium Collection at $124–$130 is the most efficient option currently available.
For display without TCG, a Pokémon Fit plush for each at $20 apiece gives you both legends on a shelf for $40 total.
