Hawlucha Collector's Guide 2026: The TCG-Only Mega, Two Plush Lines, and Kalos Cards Under $5

Hawlucha Sitting Cuties Plush 5.5 inch by Pokémon Center
Hawlucha Sitting Cuties Plush, 5½ in. · $24.99 USD

Hawlucha is the only non-Legendary Fighting/Flying type in the franchise and the only Pokémon whose Mega Evolution exists exclusively as a TCG card.

That combination creates a collecting story that runs in two clear directions. The plush side splits into two distinct Pokémon Center Japan lines: the familiar Sitting Cuties and the rarer "Practice Makes Perfect" posable mascot series tied to Hawlucha's wrestler identity. The TCG side runs from a $2.49 Radiant Rare all the way to a Japanese Mega ex single at around $5 to $6.

With Pokémon Legends: Z-A launching October 16 in Lumiose City, Kalos, collector interest across the entire Kalos roster is picking up. Hawlucha is a native Kalos Pokémon, and this guide maps every entry point in order.

The Type That Defined a Move

According to Serebii's Hawlucha entry, it is a Fighting/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation VI (XY, 2013). That typing is unusually rare.

Galarian Zapdos shares it, but Galarian Zapdos is Legendary. No other non-Legendary Pokémon in the franchise carries that specific combination.

The dual typing produced one of the franchise's most mechanically distinctive moves. Flying Press, Hawlucha's signature, is simultaneously Fighting type and Flying type.

It deals Fighting-type damage while also applying Flying-type effectiveness multipliers, meaning a single move interacts with resistances and weaknesses from both types at once. No other move in the mainline games works this way.

This lore and competitive identity carries directly into the collector market. Hawlucha merchandise references the wrestler theme consistently. The Japanese name is Luchabull (a portmanteau of lucha libre and bull), and the Pokémon Center Japan plush lines lean into that framing explicitly.

The TCG Arc: XY Base to Radiant Rare

Hawlucha has been in the TCG since XY Base Set (2014). The early XY-era prints are common and uncommon, available raw for under a dollar at most card shops.

The notable step up in the English arc is Radiant Hawlucha 081/189 from Sword and Shield: Astral Radiance (2022). Radiant is a rarity mechanic that functions differently from standard V or ex cards: each Radiant Pokémon has an elevated art treatment and a deck limit of one.

Radiant Hawlucha saw use in some competitive builds as a tech card due to its Arena Zero ability, which reduces the opponent's Bench to three Pokémon slots when Hawlucha is active. The competitive window has mostly closed since Astral Radiance rotated, but the card still represents the accessible English ceiling for collectors who want Hawlucha in their binder.

Raw NM copies of Radiant Hawlucha run $2 to $2.49 across multiple sellers right now.

Mega Hawlucha ex: A Design That Only Exists in the TCG

The highest-tier Hawlucha card is Mega Hawlucha ex 229/193 from M2a: High Class Pack MEGA Dream ex, a Japanese set from The Pokémon Company's Mega Evolution card series. The card is currently available as a Japanese import single from several sellers at $4.99 to $6.06.

This card carries a distinction worth understanding. Hawlucha has no Mega Evolution in any mainline Pokémon video game.

The XY and ORAS generations introduced Mega Evolutions for dozens of species, but Hawlucha was not among them. The Mega Hawlucha ex card is a design that originated in the TCG and exists nowhere else in the franchise.

It is the only official Mega Hawlucha artwork in existence.

This puts Mega Hawlucha ex in the same category as Mega Golurk ex and Mega Malamar ex from the ME series: a Mega design with no game-canon anchor, which means the card itself is the only collectible that carries this version of the character at all. At $4.99 to $6 raw, it is priced as an accessible import single rather than a chase card, which gives new collectors a clear ceiling to build toward without a large spend.

Two Pokémon Center Japan Plush Lines

Hawlucha has two distinct official plush lines, and they serve different collector intentions.

Sitting Cuties

The Sitting Cuties 5.5-inch plush is the standard collectible tier. It is widely stocked by US and international Pokémon Center importers in the $24.99 to $52.49 range depending on seller margin. Multiple US-based independent shops carry it with immediate shipping, making it the easiest Hawlucha plush to acquire.

Practice Makes Perfect posable mascot

The Practice Makes Perfect line is more specific to Hawlucha's character. This is a Pokémon Center Japan exclusive themed series designed around Hawlucha in training pose, playing directly on the Luchabull wrestling concept.

The posable mascot plush runs $28 from import specialists. The key chain variant of the same mascot series, also Japan PC exclusive, runs higher at $49.79 because it crosses from import plush into import accessory pricing.

Neither the mascot plush nor the key chain is available through standard retail. Both come from importers who stock Pokémon Center Japan merchandise.

The Legends Z-A Window and a Full Entry Map

Legends Z-A launches October 16, 2026 in Lumiose City, the capital of the Kalos region. Hawlucha is a Kalos native, and every Kalos Pokémon tends to see a collector attention spike during the weeks around a new Kalos game release.

The current product landscape covers a clean price ladder. For buyers who want a Japanese card at budget level, Hawlucha S 282/190 from Scarlet and Violet Japanese sets is available at $4 from specialty card shops. That is a lower price than the Mega ex, so the entry point is genuinely flexible depending on whether a buyer wants the modern Japanese art or the TCG-only Mega design specifically.

Here is the full entry map at current prices, from cheapest to most expensive:

  • Radiant Hawlucha 081/189 Astral Radiance (English): $2.00 to $2.49
  • Hawlucha S 282/190 Japanese SV single: $4.00
  • Mega Hawlucha ex 229/193 M2a MEGA Dream ex (Japanese import): $4.99 to $6.06
  • Hawlucha Sitting Cuties Plush 5.5": $24.99 to $52.49
  • Practice Makes Perfect Posable Mascot Plush (Japan PC exclusive): $28.00
  • Practice Makes Perfect Posable Plush Key Chain (Japan PC exclusive): $49.79

The TCG floor is genuinely accessible: a complete Hawlucha card collection including the Mega ex sits under $15 for most buyers. The plush range requires either a standard PC Japan import budget ($25 to $30) or a higher spend for the key chain. No Hawlucha V, VMAX, VSTAR, or ex card exists in English as of October 2026, so the Mega ex import is the current English-available TCG ceiling for the character.
