Honedge, Doublade, and Aegislash Collector's Guide 2026: The Banned Ghost-Steel Line and Every Price Tier

The Honedge line is the only Ghost/Steel three-stage evolution in the Pokémon franchise, and it earned one of the fastest competitive bans in the XY era.

For collectors in 2026, this line punches above its mainstream recognition. All three stages have Pokémon Fit plushes.

Paradox Rift put Aegislash ex at three distinct rarity tiers within a single set, with the above-set gold-bordered card sitting under $3.00 raw. And Doublade got a Regional Championship stamp promo at a time when most middle-stage evolutions were invisible to tournament organizers.

Here is where every product sits and what is worth picking up.

The Ban That Frames the Collection

Aegislash debuted in Pokémon X and Y in October 2013. Smogon placed it in the Ubers tier by November 2014, less than fourteen months later.

The reason was structural. Ghost/Steel carries three immunities (Normal, Fighting, and Poison) along with nine type resistances.

That left Aegislash with only four real weaknesses: Fire, Ground, Ghost, and Dark. Most competitive teams carried at least one coverage move that could not touch it at all.

King's Shield compounded the problem. When Aegislash uses King's Shield, it drops into Shield Forme. Any physical move that hits Aegislash during Shield Forme cuts the attacker's Attack stat by two stages.

Blade Forme carries 150 base Attack. The cycle was nearly unbreakable without a dedicated counter, and those counters were hard to fit on balanced teams.

The ban makes this line collectible in a specific way. The XY Base Set Aegislash rare holo at CA$2.49 is the card from the exact era of that ban. It is a modest price for a card tied to one of competitive Pokémon's most discussed format decisions.

Honedge: The Starting Point

Pokémon Fit Honedge No.679 Plush (Japanese Pokémon Center Exclusive) · $24.99 USD

Honedge (#679) is a possessed sword wrapped in a blue cloth. The Pokémon Fit line captures that form well, and the plush reads clearly as a sword with a fabric tail. Current listings put the Honedge Fit at $20.00 to $24.99 depending on seller.

Most Honedge collectors focus on the Fit plush and move on. There is a second product that almost no one tracks: the 2014 McDonald's Promo card. Honedge 7/12 was distributed as part of the McDonald's Happy Meal promotion in North America during the initial XY launch window.

It sits at $10.50 raw right now. That is not a cheap card, but it is the only Honedge collectible with a context completely separate from booster packs: this came with a Happy Meal in 2014, which makes it a genuine piece of the early XY launch history.

Doublade: The Middle Stage Worth Knowing

Doublade (#680) is the middle stage: two swords, the same blue cloth doubled. The Fit plush version lists at $22.00 to $24.99. Ichiba Japan and Collector Store LLC both carry it, with the Collector Store edition being a confirmed Pokémon Center Japan exclusive.

Doublade's standout collectible is the Regional Championship stamp promo. Doublade 84/146 from the XY Base Set was selected as a Regional Championship promo during the 2014-2015 competitive season.

Tournament organizers typically chose fully evolved Pokémon or Mega Evolutions for regional stamp promos. Getting a middle-stage evolution that stamp is uncommon, and it means Doublade has a tournament-context collectible that its evolutionary siblings do not.

The raw Regional Championship promo sits at $9.85. A CGC 9 graded copy from the same tournament promo batch runs $49.99, showing a 5x grade premium for this specific variant. That spread is notable because the card has no competitive use, which means the graded premium is entirely about collector demand for the tournament artifact itself.

The Aegislash TCG Ladder in Paradox Rift

$3.00 USD

Paradox Rift (November 2023) placed the full Honedge evolution line in a single set. Aegislash ex appears at three distinct rarity tiers within that set, which makes PAR the most efficient place to build an Aegislash TCG collection.

The Double Rare Aegislash ex 135/182 at $0.99 is the entry point. Same ex designation, same Blade Forme artwork treatment, same card text, but within the 182-card standard count and printed in much higher volume.

Above the set total: Aegislash ex 210/182 sits in the Illustration Rare range at $10.90. The full-art treatment bleeds to the card edges and uses a different illustrated composition than the standard frame. That is where most of the price jump comes from.

At 230/182, Aegislash ex carries the gold-bordered Hyper Rare designation. For most high-demand characters in Paradox Rift, a gold-border card runs $15 to $40 or more raw.

Aegislash gold-border sits at $3.00. This is the demand floor for a competitively historic but non-mainstream character: the rarity tier is real, the print run is identical to every other PAR Hyper Rare, but collector demand has not pushed prices to where the tier normally lands.

For a collector who wants the gold border, this is one of the most accessible Hyper Rares in the set.

Completing the Three-Stage Plush Set

Regional Championship stamp on a middle-stage evolution: Doublade 84/146 Regional Championship Promo · $9.85 USD

All three stages of the Honedge line received Pokémon Fit plushes in the Pokémon Center Japan release schedule. This is not guaranteed for every three-stage line: many have gaps, with a plush for the base stage but nothing for the middle, or a plush for the final form only. The complete Honedge-to-Aegislash Fit set is clean coverage.

Building the full set runs approximately $70 to $75 at current import seller listings: Honedge Fit at $24.99, Doublade Fit at $24.99, and Aegislash Shield Form Fit at $24.99. All three are Pokémon Center Japan exclusives sold through US and Canadian import channels.

Aegislash's Fit plush depicts Shield Forme, not Blade Forme. That is the collecting-canon version of the character: the defensive stance, the sword facing down. Every Aegislash Fit plush made to date shows Shield Forme.
