Pokémon Legends Z-A: Switch, Switch 2, and the Lumiose Steelbook Ranked 14 Days Before Launch
By Dexhaul Team · October 2, 2026
Pokémon Legends Z-A launches October 16, 2026. Right now, the Switch 2 edition is available below the standard Switch edition's price at several import sellers.
Three formats of Legends Z-A are live in the current market: the Nintendo Switch edition, the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, and the Lumiose Edition Steelbook from FantasyBox. Each has a different price floor, a different hardware dependency, and a different collector context. Here is where each lands today, 14 days before launch.
The Standard Switch Edition
The Switch edition is the widest-available format. Multiple sellers list it in the $53–$60 range, with The Video Game Company at $53.00 being the domestic reference price. BrandsMart USA, Stateline Video Games, and payMore locations cluster at $54.99–$60.00.
The used-condition floor is $47.00 at Iceman Video Games, for buyers who prioritize price over new-in-box condition. This is a physical cartridge game, so used condition means a playable cartridge without the retail seal.
One listing to evaluate carefully: Japan Figure Store at $41.96 USD. That price is roughly $11 below the domestic Switch floor.
Japan Figure Store specializes in Japanese goods imports. At this price point, the listing's language region is worth confirming directly with the seller before purchase. A Japanese-version cartridge will display Japanese text by default on most Switch hardware.
For a straightforward new Switch copy at the domestic market floor, $47.95 at The Game Store and More and $53.00 at The Video Game Company are the cleaner reference points.
The Switch 2 Edition: Hardware-Locked, Cheaper at Import
The Switch 2 Edition of Legends Z-A carries a US retail price of $69.99 (Core Gaming, Red Fox Gaming, Stateline Video Games). That is a $10+ premium over the Switch edition's domestic floor.
Import pricing inverts that relationship. Zatu Games (UK) lists the Switch 2 Edition at $47.60 USD equivalent, and Geeked Out Comics at $49.99. Both sit below the Switch edition's domestic floor of $53.00.
The critical constraint: the Switch 2 Edition runs only on Switch 2 hardware. It will not boot on original Switch, Switch Lite, or Switch OLED.
This makes hardware ownership the only deciding variable. The price advantage of import Switch 2 pricing disappears entirely if you are on original Switch hardware.
The game content is identical across both editions. Legends Z-A is a Kalos-region open-world RPG set in a similar real-time battle format to Legends: Arceus, with Mega Evolution as a central mechanic. There is no version-exclusive content between Switch and Switch 2 editions, and the visual output will differ only if you play on a Switch 2 with display features enabled.
For Australian buyers, Lotte Duty Free Melbourne lists the Switch 2 Edition at A$75.00. That is a domestically available Switch 2 option with no international shipping variable.
The Lumiose Edition Steelbook
FantasyBox lists a "Pokémon Legends ZA Lumiose Edition Switch Steelbook" at €33.90 EUR. The naming suggests a collector edition of the game with premium packaging. It is not: this is a premium metal display case sold separately from the game itself.
FantasyBox released the same format for Legends: Arceus at €29.90 EUR. That product is a collector's display case for the Arceus cartridge, not a bundle. The Z-A Lumiose Edition follows that same model at a €4 premium over the prior title.
The name "Lumiose Edition" references Lumiose City, the Kalos region capital modeled on Paris that serves as the primary setting for Legends Z-A. It is a collector's naming decision by FantasyBox, not a designation from Nintendo or The Pokémon Company. The case does not include any exclusive in-game content, bonus cards, or additional items beyond the premium metal casing.
Buyers who want the steelbook display experience need to budget for the case (€33.90) plus the game (Switch or Switch 2 edition, from the prices above) as two separate purchases. The total cost for a steelbook-displayed new copy runs roughly €33.90 plus $47–$69.99 depending on edition and seller.
Which Format to Buy
The decision map is straightforward once you know your hardware situation.
On original Switch, Switch Lite, or Switch OLED: the standard Switch edition is the only path. The $47.95 new floor at The Game Store and More or the $47.00 used copy at Iceman Video Games are the current best prices without import sourcing uncertainty.
On Switch 2: import sourcing unlocks a genuine price advantage. The Switch 2 Edition at $47.60 (Zatu, UK) or $49.99 (Geeked Out Comics) undercuts every US Switch edition listing. The hardware lock is the only caveat, and if you own a Switch 2, that caveat does not apply.
For the steelbook: buy it alongside whichever game edition fits your hardware. The €33.90 FantasyBox case is a collector accessory, not a bundle, and carries no in-game content advantage over the standard release. It is a display object for collectors who want the premium case format, following the same template FantasyBox established with the Legends: Arceus version at €29.90.
The counter-intuitive finding holds regardless of the purchase path: on Switch 2 hardware, the Switch 2 edition via import is now the lowest-price new copy in the Legends Z-A market, not a premium tier.
