14 Days Until Pokémon Legends Z-A: The Pre-Launch Checklist

Pokémon Legends: Z-A launches October 16. Fourteen days.

This is not a routine mainline release. Z-A returns to Lumiose City for the first time since X and Y in 2013, making it a 12-year homecoming to Kalos.

It centers Mega Evolution as a primary game mechanic for the first time since ORAS 2014. And it arrives while the Pokémon TCG Mega Evolution series is mid-run, with ME06 Delta Reign set for November 6.

That overlap creates a concentrated set of decisions. Which game edition. Whether to grab the Z-A-exclusive Lucario plush before the PC Japan window closes.

Whether the Kalos legendary plush prices you are seeing right now are pre-launch floors or not. And how to handle a November 6 budget with three competing line items landing on the same date.

This checklist covers five decisions, in urgency order. None of them require action today, but each one has a window that closes.

1. Decide Your Edition

Z-A ships in two card formats: the standard Nintendo Switch version and the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. The game content is identical. What differs is hardware compatibility.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition card is Switch 2 only. It will not boot in an original Switch.

The standard Switch card runs on both systems, including Switch 2, though without the performance enhancements the Switch 2 Edition accesses. If you own a Switch 2 and buy the cheaper Switch card to save money, you are leaving Switch 2 performance on the table for the life of your playthrough.

Current floor prices: Switch at $58.99 (Pixels & Reels Media Emporium) and $59.99 (Game On Games, popmarket). Switch 2 Edition at $63.47 (MediaMarket) and $69.99 (PzDeals, Core Gaming).

The narrowest version gap is under $5. That is the smallest version-price differential in a dual-SKU mainline Pokémon release in recent memory, which means the compatibility question does more work than the price difference.

If you are on original Switch hardware, the decision is simple. Switch 2 owners should take the Switch 2 Edition at the $63.47 floor rather than accept the compatibility trade-off for a $5 saving.

2. The Mega Lucario Z Plush

This is the most time-sensitive item on the list.

The Mega Lucario Z plush is a Pokémon Center Japan exclusive representing the specific Mega Lucario Z design introduced in Legends Z-A.

This design does not appear in any prior mainline game. It is not a reissue of the standard Mega Lucario plush from ME01. It is the Z-A version of the character, made specifically for this title's release window.

Pokémon Center Japan exclusives do not restock once the production window closes. When official PC Japan supply exits through importers, the only remaining path is the secondary market at a premium.

Current importer listings run $59.99 at Collector Store LLC and $62.00 at Ichiba Japan. That range is the pre-launch floor.

If the Z-A Lucario design matters to you as a collector, this is the window to act. After October 16, launch-window demand for character-specific exclusives tied to a new game typically moves both interest and pricing in one direction.

3. Xerneas and Yveltal Before the Launch Curve

Xerneas and Yveltal are the version mascots of Pokémon X and Y, the two prior Kalos games. Z-A returns to Lumiose City, the central hub of those titles, bringing Kalos Pokémon back into the collector conversation for the first time in 12 years.

Both Pokémon fit plush are currently available without allocation pressure. Xerneas sits at $24.00 from Ichiba Japan, with the Japan Figure Store offering the same plush starting at $20.44. Yveltal fit is $24.00 at Ichiba Japan and $24.99 at Collector Store LLC.

Neither is showing stock pressure at the moment. The launch window is fourteen days away.

Version mascot plush for a returning region are not a product type where stock depth holds indefinitely once the game hits shelves and drives casual search traffic. Current pricing reflects the pre-launch floor.

4. Zygarde and the Game's Narrative Center

Zygarde is directly tied to Legends Z-A in a way no other Pokémon is. Zygarde has five distinct forms: Core (1%), Cell, 10% Forme, 50% Forme, and Complete Forme.

The last is its most powerful configuration, reached by absorbing enough Cells and Cores. It is also the form least represented in current merchant listings.

The Pokémon Center fit plush covers the 50% Forme at $24.00 from Ichiba Japan. Complete Forme plush, which Pokémon Center Japan released in 2016 for the Volcanion movie, are secondary-market only. There is no new-condition Complete Forme plush in current merchant listings.

If Zygarde's place in this title drives your collecting instincts, the 50% Forme fit at $24.00 is the only in-stock path right now. Complete Forme collectors are looking at a used-condition import search. A Z-A tie-in restock of the Complete Forme is possible after launch, but not confirmed.

5. Lock In ME06 Before November 6 Creates a Budget Conflict

ME06 Delta Reign pre-orders are open now for a November 6 release. That is the same date as four 30th Celebration Wave products: two Ultra Premium Collections at $649.95 each, two Mew and Mewtwo Figure Collections at $89.95 each, and the Ditto Premium Collection at $54.95. Delta Reign is one additional line item arriving simultaneously.

The Legends Z-A launch on October 16 gives you exactly two weeks of information before the pre-order picture hardens for November. After October 16, you will know your post-game-purchase budget position and whether Delta Reign or the Celebration Wave is the priority call for November 6.

Current Delta Reign ETB floor is $109.99 at Double Infinity Gaming and Many Realms. Earlier-wave allocations are already showing higher pricing on some sellers.

Locking in at the current floor now is the simplest path if Delta Reign is already on your list. Waiting until after October 16 means using the two-week window between Z-A launch and the November 6 deadline as your decision point.

The Two-Week Window

Five decisions, two weeks. The game edition choice is the lowest-urgency item on this list because the Switch and Switch 2 versions will both be in stock on October 16. Everything else has a shorter shelf life.

The Mega Lucario Z plush is the one to watch most closely. It is the only physical product representing a character design that exists only in this title. Once PC Japan importer stock sells through, the secondary market is the only remaining path.

Xerneas, Yveltal, and the Zygarde 50% Forme fit plush are all available today at what appear to be pre-launch floor prices. Z-A is the first Kalos-returning title in 12 years. The collector attention that comes with a mainline Kalos launch has not been priced into these products yet.
