The Day and Night Split Is Not Random
This branding is a deliberate callback to Pokémon Gold and Silver.
Those games, released in 1999 in Japan and 2000 in the US, introduced the franchise's real-time day and night cycle for the first time. Espeon evolves from Eevee by leveling up with high friendship during the daytime. Umbreon does the same, but only at night.
Two conditions, two Eeveelutions, two collector products for the 30th anniversary.
Both UPCs feature Pikachu ex as a shared promo card, then split on the second featured promo: Espeon ex in Day, Umbreon ex in Night. Beyond the promos, each includes premium accessories, a playmat, booster packs from the 30th Anniversary Celebration set, and a code card. The packaging itself carries the Day and Night visual identity throughout.
Both are pre-order only. Wave 1 targets September 16 delivery. A number of sellers are noting Wave 2 stock running into December 2026 at some retailers, so locking in Wave 1 is the cleaner path if the launch date is important to you.
The Day Edition: Espeon ex at the Lower Price

Espeon has a dedicated collector following, but it consistently draws less secondary-market pressure than Umbreon at comparable price points. That typically means more accessible pre-orders and less volatility heading into launch. Current Wave 1 pre-order prices across independent sellers range from roughly $419.99 to $449.95 in USD.
Who should pick Day: collectors who primarily run Psychic-type builds in competitive play, Espeon fans from the Gen 2 era, gift buyers who want the full UPC experience without the Night premium, and anyone for whom the split is genuinely neutral.
The Night Edition: Umbreon ex and the $20 Premium
Night leads with Umbreon ex, the Dark-type Eeveelution that evolves from Eevee at night with high friendship.
Umbreon is among the most popular Eeveelutions in collector circles. Its gold-ring silhouette and Dark-type identity give it a strong visual identity that has held demand across multiple sets and product lines.
That popularity directly affects pre-order pricing: Night runs $20–$40 higher than Day across most sellers at comparable stock levels. MHDEALSPLUS lists Night at $469.95 versus $449.95 for Day.
Some sellers label their Night inventory explicitly as "Pikachu ex and Umbreon ex," which removes any ambiguity about which promo card you're getting.

Who should pick Night: Umbreon collectors, Dark-type fans, display-focused buyers who want the more in-demand of the two, and completionists who are already planning to get both anyway.
Both UPCs are otherwise identical in scope. Same pack count, same accessory tier, same playmat format. The promo cards and the theme are the only meaningful split.
If you have no preference between Espeon and Umbreon, Day is the straightforward call at $20 less.
Should You Get Both?
A handful of sellers offer a Day and Night bundle at a slight saving over buying separately.
TruchaPokeShop lists a Wave 2 set of both at $800.00 USD. Banana Games and Hobby carries a bundle at $1,779.00 CAD for Wave 2, with late December 2026 delivery noted.
If you plan to display both as a matched pair and want to ship from a single seller, the bundle route saves on separate freight. If Wave 1 delivery matters, buying individually from sellers with confirmed September stock is the more reliable path.
The bundle is a collector decision, not a value decision. Buying both is only worth it if you genuinely want both promos on display.
The Rest of the 30th Anniversary Lineup
The UPCs are the centrepiece, but not the only option launching September 16.
The Elite Trainer Box is the most practical opener in the lineup. Pre-orders at Galactic Toys are $184.95 for September 16 delivery. It gives you a solid pack count, protective sleeves, an energy card set, and anniversary packaging, without the $449+ commitment of the UPC tier.
There is also a Pokémon Center Exclusive ETB, which some independent sellers are listing at a significant premium. The Pokémon Center's own direct pre-order is the cleanest way to buy that variant if the PCenter storefront opens it for your region before September.
The Knockout Collection is the lowest-cost entry point in the 30th Anniversary lineup at $25.99. It's a compact format: a small selection of packs and a promo card without the full ETB or UPC footprint. It's the right buy for a gift, a casual collector, or someone who wants a piece of the set without committing to the full-size products.
All four formats ship on the same September 16, 2026 date for Wave 1 pre-orders.
