By Dexhaul Team · October 19, 2026 · 5 min read
The Pokémon TCG Sword & Shield: Chilling Reign Booster Display Box contains 36 booster packs, with 10 cards in each pack, drawn from a 233-card set (198 standard cards plus 35 secret rares). Pokémon released the set June 18, 2021. No official MSRP was published for the booster box by TPCi: prices today reflect the secondary market.
This is SwSh06, the sixth expansion of the Sword & Shield era. It follows Battle Styles (SwSh05) and precedes Evolving Skies (SwSh07). If you want the full Chilling Reign set guide, including card list and rarity breakdown, see our Chilling Reign set guide.

What's inside a Chilling Reign Booster Box
A sealed Booster Display Box is the largest standard retail format for any main Sword & Shield set. Every box is factory-sealed and contains the same fixed count.
| Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Booster packs | 36 | 10 cards per pack |
| Cards per box (max) | 360 | Mix of commons, uncommons, rares, and holos |
| Set | Sword & Shield: Chilling Reign (SwSh06) | 198 standard cards + 35 secret rares |
| Release date | June 18, 2021 | pokemon.com |
| Accessories | None | Booster box only; no dice, sleeves, or code cards |
The box includes no accessories. If you want the sleeves, Energy cards, and a promo, the Chilling Reign Elite Trainer Box is the product to look at instead. That contains 8 packs, so the booster box gives you 4.5 times the pack count.
MSRP and price per pack
TPCi did not publish an official MSRP for the Chilling Reign Booster Display Box, which was standard practice for booster boxes at the time. Prices in the table below are observed secondary-market listings across independent shops on October 19, 2026.
| Price (observed Oct 19, 2026) | Per pack | Currency |
|---|---|---|
| $175.00 | $4.86 | USD (low end, secondary market) |
| $299.60 | $8.32 | USD (mid range) |
| $439.99 | $12.22 | USD (established shop listing) |
| $650.00 | $18.06 | USD (higher end) |
| 2,550.00 | 70.83 | AED (United Arab Emirates dirham) |
Per-pack cost varies widely. The spread reflects seller condition descriptions, geography, and whether the box carries any authenticity guarantee. A sealed box bought at the lower end of the market carries more buyer risk; always check seller ratings and the signs of a resealed or counterfeit box before buying.
How it compares to the ETB and other SwSh boxes
Chilling Reign sits mid-era in Sword & Shield, between the highly sought Battle Styles and the Eeveelution-driven Evolving Skies. Here is how the booster box stacks up against the two closest Chilling Reign products and the next set.
| Product | Packs | Release | Extras | MSRP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chilling Reign ETB | 8 | Jun 18, 2021 | Promo, sleeves, 45 Energy, dice | $49.99 at launch |
| Chilling Reign Booster Box (this page) | 36 | Jun 18, 2021 | None | Not announced |
| Evolving Skies Booster Box | 36 | Aug 27, 2021 | None | Not announced |
Five distinct chase targets in one box
Most Sword & Shield main sets have a single primary chase VMAX.
Chilling Reign is the exception.
The set includes two Calyrex VMAX headliners: Ice Rider Calyrex VMAX (the Ice/Psychic variant, card 46 and SIR 205) and Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX (the Psychic variant, card 75 and SIR 214). These are separate cards with different mechanics. Beyond that, the set introduces full-art Galarian Articuno V, Galarian Zapdos V, and Galarian Moltres V, all of which have their own collector following.
Five distinct high-value targets spread across 36 packs means the box tends to feel more rewarding per pack than a single-headliner set. You are not pulling the same card repeatedly; each pack could produce a different chase hit. That spread, combined with the Galarian bird trio being confirmed in the set from launch, is the main reason collectors still seek Chilling Reign boxes in 2026.

Who it's for, and who should skip it
The booster box suits three types of buyers.
Collectors building the Galarian bird trio
Galarian Articuno V, Zapdos V, and Moltres V all debut in Chilling Reign. Buying a full box is more economical than buying all three singles separately if secondary-market prices for the individual cards are high. Check current single prices before deciding.
Players who want Calyrex VMAX in quantity
Both Ice Rider and Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX are competitive cards. A booster box is a reasonable way to try for multiple copies, though singles are always the more predictable path. For player-grade copies, check the buyer safety guide before purchasing from unfamiliar shops.
Gift buyers looking for maximum packs
A sealed booster box is a recognized collector gift. At 36 packs, it is more impactful than the ETB for someone who wants to open a lot of cards. Pair it with protective card sleeves from the Chilling Reign set guide for context on what they might pull.
Skip it if
You only want the Ice Rider or Shadow Rider Calyrex sleeve designs: those come with the ETB, not the booster box. Skip the booster box if your primary goal is the promo card or accessories. The ETB is the right product for that intent.
