Dark Phantasma (S10a, 2022): Which Cards Went to English Lost Origin
By Dexhaul Team · October 12, 2026 · 6 min read
Japanese Dark Phantasma (S10a) released May 13, 2022, and most of its 99 main-set cards appeared in English Lost Origin (SWSH11) on September 9, 2022. About a dozen S10a cards were held back and first appeared in Silver Tempest on November 11, 2022 instead.
This is a High Class Pack, not a standard expansion. That difference changes the box math, the pull rates, and what buyers importing from Japan actually receive.

Lost Origin draws from two Japanese sets, not one. Dark Phantasma (S10a) supplied the Hisuian-form Pokémon and additional Radiant Pokémon. Lost Abyss (S11) provided the Giratina line and the Lost Zone mechanics that give the English set its name.

What is inside the Japanese box
Dark Phantasma is sold in Japan as a High Class Pack: a sealed display box containing 20 booster packs, with 6 cards per pack. That is 120 cards total per box.
| Feature | Dark Phantasma JP box | Lost Origin EN booster box |
|---|---|---|
| Packs per box | 20 | 36 |
| Cards per pack | 6 | 10 |
| Total cards per box | 120 | 360 |
| Trainer Gallery cards | Not included (JP-only format) | Included (TG01-TG30, EN-only) |
| Secret rares above set number | Yes (Japanese Gold cards) | Yes (including Radiant rares, Gold cards) |
| Observed price per box (October 2026) | $189.99-$193.88 USD | Varies by seller |
The box-size gap is the single most important thing importers overlook.
You get one-third the total cards from a Japanese box at roughly comparable per-box cost. Japanese boxes make sense for targeted pulls, not volume cracking.
Individual packs are available from import sellers for around $13.70 USD each (observed October 2026). At that rate a full 20-pack box costs roughly $274, which is above most sealed-box listings: buying the full box is typically the better deal.
Key cards and where they landed in English
Dark Phantasma centers on Hisuian Pokémon from Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The headline card is Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR, which appears as a V, a VSTAR, and a standard evolutionary line in the same set. That rarely happens: most VSTAR sets only print the final stage and its V.
The set also introduced additional Radiant Pokémon following their debut in Battle Region (S9a). Radiant Jolteon and Radiant Steelix are the two most searched, both of which appeared in English Lost Origin. Character Rare Full Art cards in S10a depict Hisuian characters and locations from Legends: Arceus, giving the set a distinctive visual identity separate from the mainline Scarlet and Violet era.
For the complete card-by-card crosswalk, the Limitless TCG S10a page is the authoritative reference. Each entry shows both its Japanese number and its English counterpart.
The Serebii Lost Origin page lists the full English card set alongside the Japanese source set for each entry. Cards from S10a carry the Dark Phantasma notation; cards from S11 carry a separate notation. That side-by-side view confirms whether a specific card you want exists in the S10a product.
The cards that went to Silver Tempest instead
Around 13 cards from Dark Phantasma (S10a) did not appear in Lost Origin. The Pokémon Company held them back and released them in English Silver Tempest (SWSH12) on November 11, 2022.
This catches importers off guard. If you bought S10a boxes expecting every pull to show up in Lost Origin, a handful of your hits were Silver Tempest cards first appearing in English two months later.
The holdback typically affects Trainer cards and a selection of Character Rare Full Arts. The headline V and VSTAR cards transferred cleanly to Lost Origin. The full list is on Limitless TCG: filter S10a cards where the English set column reads SWSH12 rather than SWSH11.
Japanese or English: which should you buy?
Price per pack
Individual Dark Phantasma packs run around $13.70 USD (observed October 2026). A full 20-pack box at $189-$194 works out closer to $9.50-$9.75 per pack. The Lost Origin ETB remains the most accessible English entry point for casual buyers.
Play legality
Dark Phantasma cards are legal at sanctioned events when used with a printed English translation. English Lost Origin cards are the cleaner choice for competitive play: no reference sheet required.
Language and collecting appeal
Japanese Sword and Shield printing is widely regarded as cleaner: sharper holofoil and more consistent centering. Collectors targeting Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR for display often prefer the Japanese print. The Character Rare Full Arts in S10a use framing that does not carry over to the English versions.
Grading considerations
PSA and CGC both grade Japanese cards. S10a cards sometimes average higher grades simply because fewer were opened in played condition. Account for the smaller pack count per box when estimating pull odds.
Frequently asked questions
Is Dark Phantasma the same set as Lost Origin?
No. Dark Phantasma (S10a) is one of two Japanese source sets for English Lost Origin. The other is Lost Abyss (S11), which supplied Giratina VSTAR and the core Lost Zone cards.
Dark Phantasma contributed the Hisuian-form Pokémon and Radiant Pokémon.
What is the card count in Dark Phantasma versus Lost Origin?
Dark Phantasma has 99 cards in the main numbered set, plus additional secret rares. English Lost Origin has 196 cards total, including the Trainer Gallery subset (TG01-TG30) and full-art secret rares above 171 that have no direct Japanese equivalent in S10a.
Which Dark Phantasma cards did not go to Lost Origin?
Around 13 S10a cards were held back and released in English Silver Tempest (November 11, 2022) instead. These are mostly Trainer cards and a selection of Character Rares. The Limitless TCG S10a card list identifies each card's English set, so you can filter for SWSH12 entries to see the holdback list precisely.
Are Dark Phantasma cards still worth buying?
For targeted collecting of Hisuian Pokémon or Radiant Pokémon in Japanese print, yes. The set is out of Standard rotation but permanently legal in Expanded. Sealed box prices have settled, making individual purchases more predictable than at launch.
Can I use Japanese Dark Phantasma cards at English tournaments?
Yes, with a printed English translation available on request. Cards must have an English equivalent to be legal in sanctioned play; cards without one cannot be played regardless of language.
