Why Mega Lucario Z and Mega Zeraora Are Different
This is the detail most buyers miss.
Mega Greninja and Mega Starmie both debuted in the Pokémon Legends: Z-A base game (October 16, 2025). Both are listed among the 26 new Mega forms confirmed by Serebii's Legends Z-A Mega Evolution page. Collectors already familiar with the game will recognize them immediately.
Mega Lucario Z and Mega Zeraora are a different story. Both arrived in the Mega Dimension DLC, which released December 10, 2025.
The "Z" designation on Lucario Z marks it as a new silver-and-blue form, entirely separate from the classic 2014 Mega Lucario from Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. They share a name, but not a design.
Zeraora is the more remarkable case. Before Legends: Z-A, Zeraora had no Mega Evolution in any main-series game. The Mega Zeraora plush is the first official merchandise to feature a form that simply did not exist until the DLC.
Where to Buy and Observed Prices
None of these plush are sold directly through Pokémon Center US or the official website in most Western markets. They reach collectors via Japanese import shops, which source from Pokémon Center Japan and reflect the yen-to-USD exchange rate plus shipping.

How They Compare to Other Mega Plush
Pokémon Center Japan has released Mega Evolution plush before, mostly tied to the classic 2013–2014 Mega forms. Here is how the 2026 wave stacks up in size and price against those earlier releases, based on current observed storefront prices.
| Plush | Approx. Size | Observed Price | Origin Era |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mega Greninja (2026 wave) | 53 cm | $55.00 USD | Legends: Z-A (Oct 2025) |
| Mega Lucario Z (2026 wave) | 42 cm | $62.00 USD | Mega Dimension DLC (Dec 2025) |
| Mega Tyranitar (Sanei ALL STAR) | Not disclosed | $47.00 USD | ORAS (2014) |
| Mega Charizard Y (Sanei PP301) | 11 in. | $50.00 USD | X&Y (2013) |
The 2026 plush are larger than most Sanei ALL STAR Mega releases. The 53 cm Mega Greninja is one of the biggest Mega plush available from Pokémon Center Japan in this price tier.
Release Timeline
The wave did not release all at once. Mega Zeraora arrived first, followed by the main group several months later.
| Date | Product | Status |
|---|---|---|
| July 18, 2026 | Mega Zeraora Plush | Released, in stock |
| September 25, 2026 | Mega Greninja, Mega Starmie, Mega Lucario Z Plush | Released, in stock |
The September announcement covered the three plush simultaneously, per the official Pokémon news post. All four are currently available through import shops as of this writing.
Who Should Buy These, and Who Should Skip
These plush are a strong fit for three types of buyers.
Legends: Z-A players who completed the Mega Dimension DLC will recognize Mega Lucario Z and Mega Zeraora immediately. These are the only plush representing those forms anywhere in the current market. For players who bonded with those designs, that's a clear reason to pick them up.
Plush collectors focused on Mega Evolutions will find the 2026 wave fills genuine gaps. The Sanei ALL STAR line covered most ORAS Megas (2014), but Mega forms introduced in Legends: Z-A had very limited merch.
This wave starts to fill that. Check the Pokémon plush buying guide for more context on identifying official Pokémon Center releases versus unlicensed alternatives.
Greninja fans specifically have an obvious reason to consider the 53 cm Mega Greninja. At $55, it is larger than most official Greninja plush at comparable prices.
Skip these if you are buying for a young child. The plush are display-grade, Pokémon Center Japan quality, and the import prices reflect that. For a gift under $30, there are better starting points in the standard Sitting Cuties or Poké Plush line.
