30th Celebration Mewtwo Store Promo: How to Get the October 2 GWP at Every Retailer
By Dexhaul Team · September 14, 2026
Starting October 2, 2026, participating retailers across the US, Canada, and Australia will hand out a Mewtwo promo card with any Pokémon TCG purchase of $15 or more.
This is a gift-with-purchase, not a bundle. You spend $15 or more on any qualifying Pokémon TCG product, and the card is yours at no extra cost.
The official announcement from Pokémon confirms the start date, the spend threshold, the participating chains, and the card details. Supply runs while it lasts.
What You Actually Get
The promo card features the Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo and carries both the Pokémon 30 and What's Your Favorite logos.
Those two marks are the official branding from the 30th Celebration expansion itself. That is the notable part: this is not a generic retailer sticker card. The Pokémon 30 and What's Your Favorite insignias appear on the foil promo cards inside 30th Celebration products, so the store promo visually belongs to the same artifact family as the cards inside the set.
Alongside the promo card, you receive a separate card with a QR code. That QR links to information about the Pokémon Night Out experience, which is a parallel 30th anniversary campaign. The card number for the promo has not been publicly confirmed as of this writing.
The card is not pullable from any 30th Celebration booster pack. It is store-exclusive and GWP-only, which puts it in the same category as previous Pokémon retail promos: available at the time, unavailable to secondary-market buyers who miss the window at face value.
October 2 Is the Key Date, and It Stacks with the Mini Tin Launch
The promo start date is not random. The 30th Celebration Mini Tins also launch on October 2.
Four variants exist: Day Pikachu, Night Pikachu, Espeon, and Umbreon. Each contains two 30th Celebration booster packs, a sticker sheet, and a collectible art card. At $26 to $40 depending on merchant, every Mini Tin clears the $15 spend threshold by a significant margin.
The practical implication: buying any Mini Tin at a participating retailer on October 2 triggers the promo card automatically. You get the tin, the two packs, the sticker sheet, the collectible art card, and the Mewtwo promo in a single transaction. The Mewtwo Mini Tin in particular creates a straightforward Mewtwo-themed haul: the tin art, the tin's booster packs, and the Mewtwo promo card all in one visit.
This is the lowest-cost single-purchase path to the promo that also delivers new sealed product.
Where to Get It, by Region
The promo is available in-store and online, valid while supplies last.
United States
GameStop, Best Buy, Hot Topic, Five Below, Barnes & Noble, Macy's, and BoxLunch are all confirmed US participants, per the official Pokémon announcement.
Five Below is worth flagging. Five Below's standard price range tops out below $15 for most individual items, and qualifying requires exactly $15 or more on Pokémon TCG products. If Five Below is your only local option, confirm with your store that they carry a product that meets the threshold before making a trip specifically for the promo.
Canada
EB Games Canada is the confirmed Canadian participant. Online orders through EB Games Canada qualify alongside in-store purchases.
Australia and New Zealand
EB Games Australia, JB Hi-Fi, BIG W, Toymate, and Mr Toys are all confirmed Oceania participants. BIG W and JB Hi-Fi are the widest-distribution options for most Australian collectors given their store counts.
What to Buy to Qualify
Any Pokémon TCG product at $15 or more works. The 30th Celebration line spans every spending level.
The Knockout Collection ($25 to $30) is the most compact qualifying product: two booster packs and an Eevee foil promo for a price that comfortably clears the threshold. A single pack at $14.99 misses the cut; a Knockout Collection does not.
The Mini Tins ($26 to $40 depending on merchant) are the natural double-trigger as described above. The Battle Decks for Espeon ex and Umbreon ex run $29 to $37 and qualify cleanly. Any ex Box ($74 and up), Booster Bundle ($49 to $90), or Elite Trainer Box ($100 and up) qualifies by a wide margin.
For collectors who were already planning an October purchase, the promo is essentially free: budget your October 2 visit around what you would have bought anyway, and the Mewtwo card comes with it.
Higher-Value Purchases That Qualify
The Booster Bundle packs six 30th Celebration boosters into a single product. At $49 to $90 depending on merchant, it is the highest pack-per-purchase option in the sub-ETB range and qualifies easily.
Collectors who held off on Wave 1 ETBs due to the specialty-channel allocation crunch will find October a reasonable restock window. Wave 2 ex Boxes and additional Booster Bundle inventory typically arrive at mass-market retailers in the weeks after launch, and the promo gives an October 2 purchase a built-in bonus.
The ETB at $100 to $179.95 is the highest single-product qualifier in the standard product lineup. Wave 2 ETBs carry a premium over Wave 1 ($179.95 vs $100 at launch for Wave 1 specialty channel), so the promo card is a small but real sweetener if you are buying at the October price floor.
The Mewtwo Collector Angle
Mewtwo is the most-collected Legendary Pokémon in the TCG by card volume, with documented appearances in every major TCG era from Base Set (4/102, holo rare, 1999) through the 30th Celebration expansion itself.
The store promo joins a long list of Mewtwo GWPs, but the Pokémon 30 branding distinguishes it from previous retail promos that used older or standalone art. The 30th Celebration logo on the card marks it as part of the anniversary milestone formally, not just by association. For collectors who track Mewtwo releases across eras, a card that is simultaneously a retail exclusive and a 30th anniversary artifact occupies a distinct slot.
The PokeGuardian breakdown of the reveal notes the QR code element and confirms the card imagery is distinct from the Mewtwo ex cards inside the 30th Celebration packs. The store promo and the in-pack Mewtwo ex versions are separate cards with separate artwork.
"While supplies last" is the condition that matters most for timing. The promo is available in-store and online at each participating retailer, which distributes the pressure across channels. That said, for collectors specifically hunting the promo card: October 2 is the cleanest entry window.
