Espurr and Meowstic Collector's Guide 2026: Two Forms, the Radiant Collection Sleeper, and the Legends Z-A Window
By Dexhaul Team · September 30, 2026
The defining fact about Meowstic is the gender split. Male and Female Meowstic are not a standard palette swap: they have different appearances, different moveset access in the main series games, and different competitive roles. The Pokémon Fit line treats them as two separate SKUs. Completing the physical Meowstic set requires two separate $22 purchases.
That structure shapes the collecting case for this Kalos Psychic pair. Espurr (#677) evolves into Meowstic (#678) at level 25, and the form it becomes is determined by its gender.
There is a timing factor here too. Both Espurr and Meowstic appear in Lumiose City in Pokémon X and Y, the 2013 Kalos games. Legends: Z-A is set in Lumiose City. It launches October 16, 2026, sixteen days from today.
Espurr: The Pre-Evolution Entry
Espurr is a pure Psychic-type introduced in Pokémon X and Y. According to the Serebii Espurr entry, its psychic energy is powerful enough to injure the Pokémon itself, requiring its folded ears to contain the overflow. The Pokédex entries across multiple games consistently characterize it as a creature suppressing something much larger than its small frame suggests.
In the TCG, Espurr's earliest in-stock English print is the XY: Flashfire Common (42/106, 2014) at $1.00 across multiple sellers. The next notable print is Espurr 095/088 from Mega Evolution series ME03: Perfect Order, an Illustration Rare format card at $4.76 to $6.00.
The Sitting Cuties (Pokémon fit in Japan) format for Espurr sits at $30.00 at Joe's Japan Plushies. It is the small seated plush design used for every numbered Pokémon in the Pokémon Center Japan Fit line. The Espurr design captures the wide-eyed, frozen-expression look that defines the character's silhouette.
Espurr has a wider plush variety than Meowstic. The Banpresto lineup adds a Type Invasion design at $26, a Starry Night Pokepeace at $32, and a Mellow Heart Pokepeace Mascot at $30, all through Joe's Japan Plushies. The Sanei All Star Collection PP13 at $36.99 is a larger 7.5-inch format from Myolie Shop, with a more detailed face sculpt than the Fit line.
The RC14 Sleeper: Espurr in the Radiant Collection
The most interesting Espurr card in the current catalogue is not from the XY base era. It is RC14/RC32 from XY: Generations.
XY Generations was a 20th anniversary special set released in February 2016, available exclusively through products and blister packs. It contained a 32-card bonus subset called the Radiant Collection, printed with a distinctive pink sparkle foil treatment not used in any other English Pokémon set before or since. Espurr was assigned slot RC14 in that subset.
Espurr RC14/RC32 trades at $17 to $24 across current listings. The XY: Flashfire Espurr Common is $1.00. The RC foiling treatment accounts for approximately a 17-24x premium over an otherwise equivalent Common-rarity Espurr print. This is not a supply scarcity premium: the Generations set had an extended print run across 2016 products. The premium reflects collector demand for the Radiant Collection foiling specifically, a format that has never been reprinted in any subsequent English release.
Meowstic RC15/RC32 accompanies Espurr in the same subset. It trades lower: $11.00 at Danireon Cards & Games. The asymmetry between RC14 Espurr ($22) and RC15 Meowstic ($11) reflects a pattern across the Radiant Collection where pre-evolution entries consistently command higher premiums than their evolutions, likely driven by the character's direct popularity with the subset's target audience.
The Gender-Form Split at Level 25
Meowstic is one of a small number of Pokémon where gender determines not just appearance but mechanical function. Male Meowstic learns support moves through level-up: Miracle Eye, Helping Hand, and Heal Pulse. Female Meowstic learns offensive Psychic-type moves: Extrasensory, Psybeam, and Psychic. Both forms share the same base stat total, but the distribution differs, with the male leaning toward Speed and the female toward Special Attack.
The Bulbapedia Meowstic entry notes that the female form is the only Pokémon in the main series games to have both Prankster and Competitive as potential abilities. That mechanical combination is unusual and has no equivalent in the male form's ability pool. The two are, effectively, two different Pokémon sharing a species name.
The Pokémon Fit plush mirrors that split. Male Meowstic is a primarily white plush with blue inner ear markings and the more reserved expression characteristic of the support form. Female Meowstic is predominantly dark blue, with a sharper, more assertive face. Both are $22.00 at Ichiba Japan. Both are Pokémon Center Japan exclusives reaching international buyers through import channels.
If you collect Meowstic by plush, the full-set cost is $44 for both forms. No single combined plush covering both variants exists in the current catalogue. The dual-SKU structure is the only available path.
Meowstic EX: The Accessible XY Entry
Meowstic EX (37/83) from XY: Generations is the highest-tier English Meowstic card with active secondary market stock. It is an EX card from the same 2016 set as the Radiant Collection, and one of the relatively few EX designations given to a non-legendary, non-starter, non-pseudo-legendary in the XY era.
Floor pricing is $3.55 at Arclight Gaming. Danireon Cards & Games lists it at $7.00. The $3.45 gap between those two listings is pure seller-margin differential on an identical holo EX card, with no product difference.
For a non-legendary EX card with active stock, the $3.55 floor is one of the more accessible entry points in the entire XY EX era. Meowstic EX never received a Full Art or Mega Evolution follow-up in English, making it the definitive TCG ceiling for the character outside of the Radiant Collection RC15 ($11).
The Espurr Plush Range and the October Window
Espurr has more plush format variety than any single stage of the Meowstic line. The All Star Collection PP13 from Sanei at $36.99 (Myolie Shop) is a 7.5-inch format with a seated pose and a more structured build than the Fit line. The Fragmented Nostalgia listing for the same All Star Collection mold runs $50.
The Pokepeace mascot line from Takara Tomy gives Espurr three separate designs: Mellow Heart ($30), Starry Night ($32), and a smaller mascot keychain format at $9.40 (ToyCraze). The Sitting Cuties at $30 sits between the Banpresto entry ($26) and the Pokepeace designs. The Ichiban Kuji Peaceful Place E Prize Espurr at $63 is the premium ceiling for the plush range.
For Meowstic, the plush catalog is deliberately narrower in standard retail channels. Beyond the two Pokémon Fit SKUs at $22 each, the Mechamofugutto format at $30.43 (Kuma Collective) is the main alternative, with a larger body and a more relaxed pose. A Female Meowstic Sitting Cuties at $30 is available through Poke Merch Market.
The Legends: Z-A window opens October 16. Both Espurr and Meowstic are catchable in Lumiose City and the surrounding Kalos region in the original XY games. The game returns to that city directly, making the pair specifically relevant to the game's launch period in a way that most Kalos Pokémon share as a category, but few have complete dual-form plush availability to support.
The Entry Map
The accessible path through this line looks like this: Espurr Flashfire Common at $1 for the era anchor, Espurr ME03 IR at $5 for the modern print, Espurr RC14 at $22 for the premium foil. That is a complete TCG Espurr set for under $30.
For Meowstic: Meowstic EX at $3.55 floor, RC15 at $11, RC15 and EX together under $15. Both forms of the Pokémon Fit plush at $44 combined. None of these price points require a premium collection budget.
The gender-form mechanic is the specific angle that makes this pair worth tracking as a pair rather than as two separate characters. A collection that represents Male Meowstic, Female Meowstic, and Espurr across both plush and TCG covers one of the more structurally interesting Kalos lines without requiring a single card above $22.
