Silver Tempest ETB (2022): Contents and MSRP

The Silver Tempest Elite Trainer Box contains 8 Sword & Shield Silver Tempest booster packs, 65 Alolan Vulpix card sleeves, and a full set of TCG accessories including an acrylic VSTAR marker. It launched on November 11, 2022 at a $49.99 MSRP.

Silver Tempest is SWSH12, the final numbered main set of the Sword & Shield era.

The Scarlet & Violet era began with SV01 in March 2023, so Silver Tempest ETB packs are the last retail product to include pulls from the SWSH Trainer Gallery subset (TG01-TG30) in a standard 8-pack box. A separate Pokémon Center exclusive version added 3 more packs and two full-art Alolan Vulpix promo cards. Both versions are covered below.

Silver Tempest's notable cards include Lugia VSTAR and Regidrago VSTAR. Lugia VSTAR became one of the most-played VSTAR Pokémon in competitive formats through early 2023, pairing with Archeops V to accelerate Special Energy. Its presence kept Silver Tempest pack demand elevated long after launch.

The Silver Tempest Trainer Gallery (TG01-TG30) is a unique feature of this set and the three that came before it (Brilliant Stars, Astral Radiance, Lost Origin). TG cards feature Trainers alongside their Pokémon in full-art illustrated scenes, and Silver Tempest is the last regular-booster SWSH set to include them. That makes these pulls exclusive to four sets, none of which is being reprinted.

The difference reflects both the exclusive promos and the three extra packs, but the promo cards are the primary driver. Collectors who want a sealed PC ETB for the Alolan Vulpix promos are paying a $150-plus gap over the standard box.

Who it's for, and who should skip it

Silver Tempest ETB suits collectors building out the SWSH era or specifically chasing Lugia VSTAR, Regidrago VSTAR, or Trainer Gallery cards. It is the last standard SWSH main-set ETB, which makes it a natural capstone for anyone filling in the SWSH product line.

Players who need Silver Tempest cards for competitive play can find singles from any era more efficiently than opening packs. The Scarlet & Violet format is separate; no Silver Tempest cards are currently Standard-legal.

Budget-conscious collectors looking for a recent ETB with a comparable accessory kit will find the current Scarlet & Violet ETBs widely available at MSRP. Anyone who specifically wants the Alolan Vulpix sleeve art or the final SWSH Trainer Gallery pulls should look at the Silver Tempest ETB specifically.
