What's inside the Vivid Voltage Elite Trainer Box
The Vivid Voltage ETB follows the standard Sword & Shield accessories format: eight packs, sleeves, energy, and a dice set in a single box.
| Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Vivid Voltage booster packs | 8 | 10 cards per pack (standard SWSH pack format) |
| Card sleeves | 65 | Gigantamax Pikachu VMAX artwork |
| Basic Energy cards | 45 | Assorted types |
| Damage-counter dice | 6 | Standard SWSH-era damage die set |
| Competition-legal coin flip die | 1 | Used in place of a coin at tournaments |
| Acrylic condition markers | 2 | For Burned and Poisoned status conditions |
| Player's guide | 1 | SWSH04 set guide |
| Online code card | 1 | Redeemable in Pokémon TCG Live |
The 65 sleeves cover a standard 60-card deck with five spares for replacements during play. The Pikachu VMAX sleeve design is one of the more popular SWSH-era ETB sleeves and remains a practical reason to pick up the box beyond just the packs. Full card list for SWSH04 is on Bulbapedia's Vivid Voltage expansion page (bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net).
MSRP and price per pack
At $49.99 launch MSRP, each of the 8 packs worked out to $6.25. That was the standard rate for SWSH-era ETBs through most of 2020 and 2021.
| Format | MSRP | Packs included | MSRP per pack |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vivid Voltage ETB | $49.99 (pokemon.com) | 8 | $6.25 |
| Vivid Voltage booster pack | $4.49 (pokemon.com) | 1 | $4.49 |
| Vivid Voltage booster box | $143.64 (pokemon.com) | 36 | $3.99 |
Secondary-market prices as of October 2026 range from roughly $160 to over $200 USD for sealed ETBs, depending on condition. The booster box sits at $304–$519 USD across current listings, reflecting the set's continued collector demand driven by the Amazing Rares.
Amazing Rares: exclusive to Vivid Voltage in English
Vivid Voltage introduced Amazing Rares for the first time in any English Pokémon TCG set.
There are six Amazing Rares in the set: Celebi, Raikou, Jirachi, Zacian, Rayquaza, and Zamazenta. Each features panoramic landscape art that fills the entire upper half of the card, a foil treatment unlike any other SWSH card type, and no equivalent in any other English Sword & Shield main series expansion. If you want to pull an English Amazing Rare from a booster pack, Vivid Voltage is your only option.
Rayquaza (138/185) is the highest-value Amazing Rare, trading around CA$28–$34 as of October 2026. The other five Amazing Rares are more accessible at CA$6–$10. None are competitively relevant in current formats, but all are standout collector pieces.
The Vivid Voltage Build & Battle Box
Vivid Voltage also released a Build & Battle Box at a lower entry price.
The Build & Battle Box contains a 40-card ready-to-play theme deck drawn from a fixed pool of four possible SWSH04 promos, plus 4 Vivid Voltage booster packs. It was the prerelease product for the set, sold at local game stores before the main retail launch. At $14.99 MSRP it gave you 4 packs for roughly $3.75 each, the cheapest per-pack rate of any Vivid Voltage product at retail.
On the secondary market the Build & Battle Box now sits at $59.99–$100 USD depending on the seller and condition. The fixed-pool promo it contains is one of four possible SWSH-era B&B promos for this set; listings rarely specify which promo is inside, so treat it as a fun sealed product rather than a specific promo hunt.
How Vivid Voltage ETB compares to nearby SWSH boxes
Vivid Voltage sits in the middle of a cluster of SWSH ETBs from 2020 and 2021. Here is how it lines up against its closest neighbors. See also: Darkness Ablaze vs Vivid Voltage ETB (2026) and Chilling Reign ETB (2021): Contents and MSRP.
| Product | Set code | Release date | Packs | MSRP | Notable difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Darkness Ablaze ETB | SWSH03 | Aug 14, 2020 | 8 | $49.99 | Charizard VMAX chase card; no Amazing Rares |
| Vivid Voltage ETB | SWSH04 | Nov 13, 2020 | 8 | $49.99 | Only English SwSh set with Amazing Rares; Pikachu VMAX sleeves |
| Battle Styles ETB | SWSH05 | Mar 19, 2021 | 8 | $49.99 | Two versions; Single/Rapid Strike mechanic introduced |
Darkness Ablaze has the stronger individual pull target (Charizard VMAX) but Vivid Voltage has the only Amazing Rares. Battle Styles introduced the Single Strike and Rapid Strike card markers that defined SWSH competitive play through 2021 and 2022. All three are at the same 8-pack, $49.99 MSRP.
Who should buy the Vivid Voltage ETB
Buy it if you want Amazing Rare cards from packs
This is the only English Sword & Shield main series set where Amazing Rares can be pulled. If completing your Amazing Rare collection or chasing the Rayquaza is the goal, sealed Vivid Voltage is the only pack product that gets you there.
Buy it if you want the Pikachu VMAX sleeve art
The Gigantamax Pikachu VMAX sleeve design is one of the standout SWSH ETB sleeve sets. At 65 sleeves it fits a standard 60-card deck with spares, and the art holds up well for competitive play.
Skip it if you want Charizard or Eeveelution chase cards
Charizard VMAX chasers should look at Darkness Ablaze. Eeveelution VMAX hunters should look at Evolving Skies (SWSH07, August 27, 2021). Vivid Voltage's top pull targets are the Pikachu VMAX (044/185) and the Amazing Rares, not Charizard or Eeveelutions.
Skip it if you just need pack count
A sealed booster box (36 packs, 4.5x the ETB's packs) at current secondary prices gives significantly more chances at Amazing Rares. If the sleeves and accessories are not a priority, the booster box is a better deal on raw pull rate alone.

Frequently asked questions
How many packs are in the Vivid Voltage Elite Trainer Box?
The Vivid Voltage ETB contains 8 booster packs. There was no Pokémon Center exclusive version of this ETB with extra packs, unlike some later SWSH ETBs such as the Chilling Reign PC ETB (11 packs).
What are Amazing Rares in Vivid Voltage?
Amazing Rares are a card type introduced for the first time in Vivid Voltage (SWSH04). They feature panoramic landscape artwork across the upper half of the card and a distinctive foil treatment. Six appear in the set (Celebi, Raikou, Jirachi, Zacian, Rayquaza, and Zamazenta), and Vivid Voltage is the only English Sword & Shield main series expansion to include them.
What was the Vivid Voltage ETB MSRP?
The Vivid Voltage ETB launched at $49.99 USD (pokemon.com). This was the standard MSRP for SWSH-era 8-pack ETBs. The set is now available on the secondary market only, with ETBs typically ranging from $160 to $200 USD.
Is Vivid Voltage worth buying in 2026?
If you want English Amazing Rares from sealed packs, yes. It is the only English SwSh main series expansion where they appear, and the Rayquaza in particular holds consistent value. If you are chasing Charizard or Eeveelution VMAXes, other sets are more efficient.
What is the rarest card in Vivid Voltage?
The Pikachu VMAX Secret Rare (full-art alternate art, 188/185) and Pikachu VMAX Rainbow Rare are among the set's top-value pulls at current secondary prices. Among the Amazing Rares, Rayquaza (138/185) carries the highest value, typically trading at CA$28–$34 for Near Mint copies as of October 2026.
