Paradox Clash vs Destinies Tins: Johto Beast Comparison
By Dexhaul Team · October 4, 2026
Buy a Paradox Clash tin if you want Walking Wake ex, the foil promo for Suicune's Ancient Paradox form. Buy Paradox Destinies if Raging Bolt ex (Raikou) or Gouging Fire ex (Entei) is your target.
These are two separate product lines, not two waves of the same tin. The Johto Legendary Beasts are split between them. Getting all three as Paradox promo ex cards means buying from both series, and most buyers only discover this after they already own one.

Where Paradox Clash wins
Five packs per tin
Every Paradox Clash tin comes with five Scarlet and Violet series booster packs plus the foil promo card. Paradox Destinies includes four packs. At the same floor price of $26.99 per specific-character tin, Clash gives you 25% more packs per dollar.
If pack volume is the goal and the promo is secondary, Clash is the better pure pack value of the two sealed tin formats.
The only Suicune Paradox promo in a sealed tin
Walking Wake is the Ancient Paradox form of Suicune, reclassified as Water/Dragon rather than Suicune's pure Water type. The Walking Wake ex foil promo exists only in the Paradox Clash product line. No Paradox Destinies variant features it.
For any collector building the full Johto Beast Paradox trio, the Paradox Clash Walking Wake tin is a required purchase. There is no substitute in the current sealed catalogue.
The second Paradox Clash variant is Iron Leaves ex, the Future Paradox form of Virizion (Grass/Psychic). It completes one side of the Swords of Justice split: Iron Leaves in Clash, Iron Crown (Cobalion) and Iron Boulder (Terrakion) in Destinies. Keldeo has no Paradox form in either series.
Where Paradox Destinies wins
Two Johto Beasts in one series
Paradox Destinies covers two of the three Johto Legendary Beasts in a single product line. Raging Bolt is the Ancient Paradox of Raikou, Electric/Dragon and Pokédex #1021. Gouging Fire is the Ancient Paradox of Entei, Fire/Dragon and Pokédex #1020.
Collectors who want two Johto Beast promos at once can accomplish that entirely within the Paradox Destinies lineup, with no need to source from Clash for either of those two characters.
Four character variants
Paradox Destinies offers four distinct tins: two Johto Beasts and two Swords of Justice.
A buyer who wants two different characters from the same series has options within Destinies. Clash limits you to Walking Wake or Iron Leaves, with no further variants.
Random tin as a budget entry
Paradox Destinies has a random-character tin available from $24.99 (observed October 4, 2026), the lowest entry point for either series. The four-character lineup means a 25% chance of landing any specific variant on a random purchase. Paradox Clash has no random option.
The Johto Beast completion path
All three Johto Legendary Beasts received Ancient Paradox forms in the Scarlet and Violet era, and each one gained Dragon as a second type: Raging Bolt is Electric/Dragon, Gouging Fire is Fire/Dragon, Walking Wake is Water/Dragon. No other legendary trio in the Paradox lineup received this systematic Dragon-addition across all three members.
ME07 Aura Seeker (Japanese release confirmed for November 27, 2026) features all three original Johto Beasts as ex-star cards in the Mega Evolution series. Those are different cards from the promo tins: the tins feature the Temporal Forces Paradox forms, while ME07 will feature the classic designs. A Johto Beast collector building across both products will end up with six distinct ex-rarity cards for the same trio of Pokémon.
For collectors who want the promo series complete, the spending path is straightforward. One Paradox Clash Walking Wake tin at $26.99 covers Suicune.
One Paradox Destinies Raging Bolt or Gouging Fire tin at the same price covers either Raikou or Entei. The second Johto Beast from Destinies requires a second tin purchase from that series.
The ME07 Aura Seeker Johto Beast guide covers the original-design ex-star arc. For the Temporal Forces set where these Paradox forms first appeared in the standard set, see the Temporal Forces guide.
Iron Crown ex (Cobalion's Future Paradox) and Iron Boulder ex (Terrakion's Future Paradox) round out the Paradox Destinies lineup for Swords of Justice collectors. Combined with Iron Leaves from Paradox Clash, three of the four Swords of Justice have Paradox promo tins. Keldeo has no Paradox counterpart in any released product as of October 2026.
FAQ
Are Paradox Clash and Paradox Destinies from the same set?
No. They are two separate sealed product lines. Both feature Paradox Pokémon introduced in the Temporal Forces (SV5) era, but they were released as distinct tin waves with different characters, different pack counts, and different release windows.
Which tin series has more booster packs?
Paradox Clash includes five Scarlet and Violet series booster packs per tin. Paradox Destinies includes four. The floor price for a specific-character variant is the same across both series ($26.99 observed October 4, 2026), making Clash the higher pack-per-dollar option.
Do I need both series to collect all three Johto Legendary Beast Paradox promos?
Yes. Walking Wake ex (Suicune's Paradox form) is only available in Paradox Clash.
Raging Bolt ex (Raikou) and Gouging Fire ex (Entei) are only available in Paradox Destinies. There is no single series that covers all three.
What is the cheapest way to get all three Johto Beast promo tins?
Buy one Paradox Clash Walking Wake tin at the current floor, then two Paradox Destinies tins (Raging Bolt and Gouging Fire) at their respective floors. All three specific-character variants are currently available from $26.99 each, for a total of approximately $80.97 at floor prices observed October 4, 2026.
How do these tins connect to the upcoming ME07 Aura Seeker release?
ME07 Aura Seeker (confirmed JP release November 27, 2026) will feature the original Raikou, Entei, and Suicune as ex-star cards in their classic designs. The promo tins feature the Temporal Forces Paradox forms of the same three Pokémon. They are complementary products, not competing ones.
