Crown Zenith vs Charizard UPC: Which SWSH Sealed Product Should You Buy in 2026?
By Dexhaul Team · October 12, 2026 · 6 min read
Buy the Charizard UPC if you want the defining sealed product of the SWSH era. Buy Crown Zenith if you want the final SWSH set's Galarian Gallery subset at a lower entry point.
These are not the same kind of product. No Crown Zenith UPC was ever produced, making this a comparison between the Charizard Ultra Premium Collection and Crown Zenith's ETB and Premium Figure Collection formats. Understanding what each one actually is determines which one belongs in your collection.
At a glance
| Metric | Charizard UPC | Crown Zenith ETB |
|---|---|---|
| Set | SWSH11: Lost Origin | SWSH12.5: Crown Zenith |
| Release date | October 28, 2022 | January 20, 2023 |
| MSRP | $179.99 | $49.99 |
| Booster packs | 16 | 9 |
| MSRP per pack | $11.25 | $5.55 |
| Observed price (October 12, 2026) | from $527 | from $331.99 |
| Current per-pack cost | $32.94 | $36.89 |
| Exclusive promos | 3 Charizard promo cards | 1 Galarian Gallery promo |
| Figure included | No | No (ETB format) |
| UPC version for this set | Yes (this product) | None produced |
The per-pack cost is the surprise. At current observed prices, the Charizard UPC works out to $32.94 per pack versus $36.89 per pack for the Crown Zenith ETB.
The box with the $527 sticker price actually costs less per booster than the one at $331.99. That math holds as long as both remain at their current floors.

Where the Charizard UPC wins
Three exclusive Charizard promo cards
The Charizard UPC, released alongside SWSH11: Lost Origin on October 28, 2022, comes with three Charizard Black Star promos not found in any other product: a Charizard V full-art, a Charizard VMAX, and a Charizard VStar gold-bordered promo. For anyone collecting the Charizard card line, these three promos are the reason the UPC commands a premium.
More packs, lower cost per booster at today's prices
Sixteen Lost Origin packs open to cards from one of the stronger Radiant and Trainer Gallery subsets in the SWSH era. The Charizard VMAX Special Illustration Rare (Lost Origin 154/196) is the chase from the set.
At current pricing, each Lost Origin pack costs less than each Crown Zenith pack when both are bought sealed in their respective products. That efficiency is invisible when you see the price tags side by side.
Where Crown Zenith wins
The Galarian Gallery: 70 full-art cards in one final set
Crown Zenith is not just the last SWSH set. It is a curated collection built around the 70-card Galarian Gallery subset, which features full-art Galarian form cards and fan-favourite Pokémon in an illustrated format not seen in standard SWSH sets.
Every ETB pack pulls from that pool. For collectors focused on art and set completionism rather than Charizard specifically, this subset is the reason to buy Crown Zenith over any other late SWSH product.
Lower sticker price and two Premium Figure Collection formats
The ETB at $331.99 and the Shiny Zacian Premium Figure Collection at $358.75 both sit well below the $527 UPC floor. Crown Zenith also offers two PFC formats, each with a different Shiny Legendary figure, that give collectors a figure format the UPC never had. There is no equivalent Crown Zenith product at the $527 level: the Trainer Box at $545 is the closest, but it is a distinct format with different contents.
No UPC means no premium to absorb
Crown Zenith never had a UPC. TPCi produced Ultra Premium Collections for Brilliant Stars (Espeon VMAX and Umbreon VMAX, February 2022) and for Lost Origin (the Charizard UPC, October 2022), but not for Crown Zenith.
That absence is a structural fact about the product line, not an oversight. Sealed Crown Zenith products carry the "final SWSH set" premium, not a character-IP premium.
Buyers who are indifferent to Charizard as a character are not paying for it when they buy Crown Zenith.
The deciding question
The two products serve different collectors entirely.
Buy the Charizard UPC if you collect Charizard cards specifically
The three promo cards in the UPC are the whole point. Charizard V, VMAX, and VStar promos in their Black Star gold treatment are not available in any other sealed product.
The 16 Lost Origin packs are a bonus, not the draw. If your collection is Charizard-focused, this is the SWSH product you need; Crown Zenith has no Charizard promo content of comparable rarity.
Buy Crown Zenith if you collect the SWSH era or want the Galarian Gallery
If the goal is completing the Sword & Shield series or pulling Galarian Gallery cards, Crown Zenith is the only source. The ETB at $331.99 is the most accessible entry point.
The Shiny Zacian PFC at $358.75 adds the Shiny Legendary figure for just $26.76 more, making it the better value if display is part of your setup. The Pokémon Center ETB Plus format is a separate product for buyers who specifically want the PC-exclusive accessories.
If the budget is the primary constraint
Neither product is cheap at current prices, but Crown Zenith gives you access to the Galarian Gallery for $195 less upfront. The UPC's better per-pack math only applies if you plan to open it.
Sealed collectors absorb the full sticker price, and $527 versus $331.99 is a meaningful gap. For Q4 gift buyers, the Crown Zenith ETB is the more accessible option. See our ETB vs UPC buying guide for a broader look at when to choose each format across sets.
A note on Crown Zenith's Pokémon Center formats
Crown Zenith had two Pokémon Center-exclusive premium products that sit between the ETB and the UPC price point. The PC ETB Plus is a different product from the standard ETB, with a higher pack count and PC-exclusive accessories.
If your interest is in the Shiny Legendary content specifically, the Shiny Zacian or Shiny Zamazenta PFC is the better-targeted choice. It includes the Shiny figure and dedicated Galarian Gallery pack content without paying for a larger ETB you may not need. The ETB comparison guide for SWSH sets covers how this format varied across the era.
FAQ
Is there a Crown Zenith UPC?
No. TPCi produced UPCs for Brilliant Stars and Lost Origin (the Charizard UPC) within the SWSH era, but Crown Zenith did not receive a UPC. The Trainer Box and the two Premium Figure Collections (Shiny Zacian and Shiny Zamazenta) are the premium Crown Zenith formats.
How many packs are in the SWSH Charizard UPC?
The Sword & Shield Ultra Premium Collection: Charizard, released October 28, 2022, contains 16 booster packs from the Lost Origin set, along with three Charizard promo cards and premium accessories.
Does Crown Zenith have the Galarian Gallery subset in every pack?
The Galarian Gallery cards appear as pulls within Crown Zenith booster packs rather than in a separate dedicated pack. Every Crown Zenith pack has a chance at Galarian Gallery cards, but there is no "Galarian Gallery only" pack format in the ETB or PFC.
Which is better for a Q4 holiday gift: the Charizard UPC or a Crown Zenith ETB?
Crown Zenith ETB at $331.99 observed on October 12, 2026, is the better gift at a lower upfront cost. The Charizard UPC at $527 is more appropriate for a serious collector who specifically wants the Charizard promos or the Lost Origin packs.
Are the Charizard promo cards in the UPC worth buying individually?
Individual promo cards from the UPC trade on the secondary market. The VStar gold promo is the most sought-after of the three.
Buying them individually is an option if you want the cards without the box. This guide covers the sealed product comparison only: single-card sourcing is a separate decision.
