Bisharp spent over a decade as one of the most reliable offensive threats in competitive Pokémon, and then its evolution made it obsolete overnight.

That timeline matters for collectors. Bisharp debuted in Generation 5 with a combination of Speed, Attack, and Dark/Steel typing that kept it relevant across multiple competitive generations. When Scarlet and Violet introduced Kingambit as its final evolution, the result was a third-stage evolution line with a legitimate competitive history behind it and a TCG market that had not yet caught up to the line's full scope.

This guide covers every price tier from the Noble Victories era to the Shrouded Fable Illustration Collection, with the plush market included.

The Line's Identity

Dark/Steel is one of the most defensively efficient dual typings in the franchise. It carries nine resistances and two immunities, leaving only Fighting, Ground, and Fire as weaknesses.

Pawniard and Bisharp held that typing exclusively for four generations. Kingambit's arrival in Gen 9 added a third holder, but the typing remained exceptionally rare. No other fully-evolved Dark/Steel Pokémon exists in the mainline series as of September 2026.

Bisharp's competitive run was built on Knock Off, Swords Dance, Sucker Punch, and Iron Head. It sat in OU for most of its career, dropping to UU in later generations as power creep reduced its speed tier. Kingambit corrected that: higher Attack, Supreme Overlord ability, and strong priority coverage pushed it to S-tier in Generation 9 OU.

The Noble Victories Debut: Bisharp's First TCG Era

Bisharp (82/101) Noble Victories Holofoil · $3.00 USD

Bisharp's TCG debut came in Noble Victories, released in November 2011. Two versions appeared in that set: Bisharp 76/101 as an Uncommon and Bisharp 82/101 as a Holo Rare.

The Holo Rare 82/101 is the one worth owning from this era. It trades at $2–$3 raw in NM condition, which is undervalued relative to its age. BW-era Holo Rares from the same set that feature popular characters trade significantly higher; Bisharp benefits from the Dark/Steel typing resonating with collectors who prioritize defensive design over aesthetic popularity.

One note on the Uncommon 76/101: it reads similarly in artist style to the Holo but carries no foil treatment, so it sits at $0.30–$0.50 raw. For a budget introduction to the line's BW origins, it is the cheapest entry.

Bisharp received additional BW-era prints in Dark Explorers and subsequent XY sets. The XY Base Set Bisharp 82/146 Rare trades at $0.80–$2.00 raw. None of the BW or XY era prints achieved premium status; this era of the line is the lowest-cost segment of the collector ladder.

The SV Era: Kingambit's Illustration Rare

Kingambit (220/198) Scarlet & Violet Illustration Rare · $10.10 USD

Kingambit 220/198 is the Illustration Rare from the Scarlet and Violet base set. It is numbered 22 positions above the 198-card set total, placing it in the above-set IR tier.

The current raw price range of $8–$11 stands out. Gardevoir ex from the same set trades above $40 as an IR; Miraidon ex and Koraidon ex IRs from the same set sit at $20–$35. Kingambit IR underperforms that tier significantly, because its collector demand comes from competitive recognition rather than mainstream fan popularity.

That gap is worth noting if you believe collector demand for this line grows as Kingambit's Gen 9 competitive legacy becomes better known. It is currently the least expensive above-set Illustration Rare for a fully-evolved Pokémon in the SV01 base set.

The Shiny Vault Surprise: Pawniard in Paldean Fates

Pawniard 185/091 Paldean Fates Shiny Rare Pokémon card
Pawniard Shiny Rare Holo 185/091 Paldean Fates · $5.38 USD

Pawniard 185/091 from Paldean Fates is a Shiny Rare numbered 94 positions above the 091-card base set. That puts it in the Shiny Vault subset, printed alongside the full Paldean Fates run.

Most Shiny Vault entries in Paldean Fates go to the final evolutionary stage of a line, the one collectors actually search for by name. Pawniard getting Shiny Vault treatment as the pre-evolution is uncommon. The card trades at $4–$5.38 raw, which is reasonable for an above-set Shiny treatment of a Basic Pokémon with no GX, V, VMAX, or ex designation of its own.

For collectors who want every form of Pawniard represented, this is the only above-set English TCG print for the species as of September 2026.

Japanese Imports: The Black Bolt AR Pair

Bisharp AR 148/086 SV11B Black Bolt Japanese · $6.80 USD

SV11B Black Bolt is a Japanese expansion released in 2026. It includes both Bisharp AR 148/086 and Pawniard AR 147/086, making it one of the few sets to give Art Rare treatment to consecutive stages of the same evolutionary line in the same release.

Bisharp AR 148/086 trades at $6.80 raw. Pawniard AR 147/086 trades at $5.26–$7.00 raw. Both carry the full-bleed illustration treatment characteristic of the AR tier, and the consecutive numbering (147 then 148) makes them a natural pair for display.

Neither card has an English equivalent. If you want an Art Rare for either Bisharp or Pawniard, Japanese Black Bolt singles are the only route.

The Shrouded Fable Illustration Collection

The Shrouded Fable Kingambit Illustration Collection is the only English sealed product that features Kingambit as the face card. It includes four Shrouded Fable booster packs and a Kingambit promo, and it came from a mini-set rather than a major expansion.

Current pricing: $49.99–$76.50 USD, with CA$64.95 CAD the most common listing from Canadian retailers. Multiple sellers have stock as of this writing.

The collection makes sense as a sealed entry point if you want the Kingambit-specific product without pulling singles from boosters. The Shrouded Fable set itself focuses on Sinistcha ex and Pecharunt ex as its headliners; the Kingambit collection is a secondary product from the same print run, which typically means steadier long-term supply than a headline product.

Plush: Bisharp in Two Formats

Bisharp No. 625 Pokémon fit plush doll
Bisharp 625 Plush Pokémon fit · $21.00 USD

Bisharp has two plush formats available as of September 2026: the Pokémon fit small plush at $19–$25 USD and the Sitting Cuties format at approximately $41.70 USD. Both are Pokémon Center Japan distribution items imported through independent retailers.

The Pokémon fit is the better value. It captures Bisharp's blade-arm and helmet silhouette accurately in the fit format's characteristic flat-base pose. The Sitting Cuties version is larger at roughly six inches and sits in an upright position rather than the compact fit stance.

Kingambit has no dedicated plush in either format as of this writing. If a Pokémon Center Kingambit plush is released, the precedent from similar competitive-popular Pokémon (Garchomp, Lucario) suggests it would arrive within two to three years of the character's game debut. Bisharp plush is the closest in-stock option for a physical representation of the full line.

What to Buy at Each Budget

Under $10

Bisharp Noble Victories 82/101 Holo Rare ($2–$3) is the best value in this range. It is the line's TCG debut and trades below its long-run floor given the BW-era collector gap.

Pawniard Paldean Fates Shiny 185/091 ($4–$5.38) adds an above-set Shiny Vault entry for the pre-evolution at modest cost. Either purchase covers the historical and modern single tiers without committing to a sealed product.

$10–$30

Kingambit 220/198 SV01 IR at $8–$11 is the standout in this range. It is the most affordable above-set Illustration Rare for a final evolution in the SV base set, and it represents the line's current competitive peak in TCG form. For Japanese collectors, the Bisharp AR 148/086 and Pawniard AR 147/086 from Black Bolt can both be acquired in this range, giving the pre-evolution and mid-stage their Art Rare treatment in a single purchase window.

$50 and above

The Shrouded Fable Kingambit Illustration Collection at $49.99–$76.50 is the only sealed product that puts Kingambit as the headline character in an English release. Multiple sellers have stock currently. It is the logical sealed-product choice for anyone building a Kingambit-focused collection rather than acquiring singles.
